Yummy pizza and warm squishy delicious pretzels with delicious toppings.

This place is awesome! I tried it for the first time about two weeks ago with the boyfriend. I was craving pizza and I hadn't heard of this place before, so off we went! There was a bit of a wait- on a Wednesday. Weird, but okay b/c it didn't take too long! Once we got served, everything was totally great. Our server was attentive but not annoying, a little slow on water refills but they were pretty busy. OMG-- the bruschetta was the best thing ever. Seriously. I talked about it for hours afterwards. It had goat cheese, balsamic and tomatoes on top. So good. We got the Buffalo Chicken pizza- very well made, but not our favorite. I would totally go again to try another pizza! Just a heads up though, it takes about 30 min per pizza. read more

The waiter and staff were great and attentive. Unfortunately, the pizza was sub-par- has been the past three visits (2 carry out and one in restaurant); the crust was burned. We scrapped off the toppings which were fine. Since this has happened the past three visits we are wondering if the chef(s)/kitchen staff have changed. Sadly we won't be returning. read more

Been coming here since it opened. What happened? New management? Waited over an hour and the place was half empty. Waitress only checked on us once to tell us it was coming soon. That was 30 minutes in. Pizza finally arrived and was so badly burned we had to tear off the crust. When waitress saw us taking a picture of it she came over and offered to make another one. We declined, not wanting to wait another hour. She gave us half off because it was burned but never even mentioned the long wait. So disappointing. This used to be our fav place. read more

I love the idea of Mellow Mushroom so much. I love the atmosphere. I love the beer selection. I love the range of toppings. I even love the pretzels. But I don't love the pizza here. Some people do and I don't blame them, because it's not "bad" per se. It's just really expensive for only decent pizza. I think they do so many things right here as far as ambiance, that when they deliver a very average tasting pizza, it's a huge disappointment. For me, their dough is perfect for the pretzels, but tastes under seasoned as pizza dough. I have eaten at two different locations including this one, and the reason I eat here is to get vegan pizza when I have the $$ (I'm not vegan but I try, haha) and I'll order their pretzels when I'm at Oak St. Drafthouse. read more

Great ambiance & food - win/win. It's a unique place (huge lava lamps @ the bar, walls made of beer bottles, etc) with incredible selection - the salads we had were fresh, the pizzas were top notch. My son is somewhat of a beer connoisseur & he was happy w their selection. I enjoyed the pizza w such a great combo of crust, sauce & toppings - yummy! So far we have tried the pizzas, hot meatball hogie and the spinach and artichoke dip. The food is tasty and worth the price you pay. We have mostly ordered our meals to go so the time quoted (20-25 min) is basically a random guess. Once it was closer to 50 min but the atmosphere was good so that was OK. Another time we were quoted the usual 20-25 min and they called 15 min later saying it was ready for pick up. Some of the staff seemed like they may have had some "mellow mushrooms" before work as they moved at a snail's pace and when asked for a sack for my carry out, which was previously handed to me in 4 separate containers, the girl simply reached behind the counter and pulled out a sack and handed it to me. Pizza is good. Staffs are friendly. Wait is the worst and this is our second time here. 20 minutes wait for soup and salad, almost an hour for pizza. Looks like they forgot to deliver the pizza, the server had to check on it only after our request. Main dishes came out lukewarm. They need to have the server bring food or the server must be responsible for checking on food arrival. Looks like they have a separate crew delivering the food and this is by far subpar. Won't be back for awhile. Was planning for a large Xmas office party there in a week, will host it somewhere else. read more

If you love beer and pizza, this is the place to go. They have a maaaassssive collection of draft and bottled beers and some of the most original, tasty pizzas and salads you can find in town. The pizza crust alone is worth the visit. As a beer connoisseur I can assure you that you'll find a range of beers to sate any pallet, from your average light beer to your industrial strength IPA. This place shouldn't be passed up. read more

The pizza is amazing! I love the crust! They hand toss the dough, and if you have kids this is fun to watch. I have loved all the pizza we have tried, but my favorite is the mega veggie with extra pepperchini. The manager is friendly, and checks to see if you are happy. We sat out on the patio one night and the fireplace was cozy. It is pretty busy since it is new, and everyone working there is still new as well. Really awesome pizza! I have been wanting to try this place for a while, but for the longest time, they only had one in Fort Worth. I'm more of a Dallas girl and prefer not to venture out to Fort Worth, so I just never did. But then they opened one in Denton. So excited that they did. The pizza was delicious. We had the House Special pizza. It was so tasty. We did a 14", and it was a heck of a lot of pizza for two people. Pretty big slices, so be prepared. We also ordered the cheese bread as an appetizer, and let me say, it was absolutely great. The customer service was very good too. Our server was very attentive and friendly. I was contacted by MM Director of Operations and offered a gift card. I responded by letting them know that we would come back if our children's allergies subsided. But for now we have no plans of returning. We can't risk a topical reaction of hives or an anaphylactic reaction resulting in a trip to the hospital. read more

I honestly didn't even want to write this review, but my boyfriend and I dined in at Mellow Mushroom around 8pm this last Saturday, the 25th. Things were weird as we walked in, asked for a table for two and the hostess and a server were standing at the front, as the hostess chose a table for a us, the server standing at the front gave her a "look" and we were shown to our table. When we sat down, we were greeted by the same server who was at the front, Alex. She was extremely monotone with us, seemed like she was annoyed and didn't want to take care of us. Which is fine, I myself work in the service industry and understand working late evenings, working double shifts, etc and just being exhausted by the end of the night,this is not what bothered me. When a table of about eight, a white family, sat down next to us and her demeanor completely changed. She was suddenly happy and loved her job and was so excited to get them anything they wanted. My boyfriend is black, and when you walk over to our table looking as if you would like us to leave, but are super excited to take care of another table, things like this do not go unnoticed. When you treat everyone the same and with the same demeanor, you'll be surprised by your results. We actually tipped our server more than 20% to make a point. The food was great, and things got out to us quickly, i was just disappointed by how the server acted. One servers actions do not account for the entire staff, but It was just disappointing. We'll most likely do takeout for now on. read more

The pizza at Mellow Mushroom is amazing, but what I really love is the service, the atmosphere and the Spinach Artichoke dip and the hot wings. I have had 5 different types of their specialty pizzas and each one has delighted me. This is the only pizza I eat now. read more

Stopped by Friday night for a REALTOR gathering on the back patio. MOST pleasant and enjoyable. Had a couple of different flavor pizzas - MOST excellent. Very well prepared and tasty. Wow - what a list of varieties of wines and coldbeers to choose from. Many beers on tap too. And a good variety of desert dishes too. If you like good pizza - coldbeers / wines, casual atmosphere.... this is a good place for you to try out. read more

The food is pretty good, the best pizza I've had in this area. The service I had last time I went a week ago was awful. It was a Monday night and fairly busy. We ordered an appetizer and waited an hour for her to come back to tell us our pizza was ready, never even checked back with us. When I asked if we were ever gonna get our appetizer she said she forgot then kept making the excuse that is was busy. After that I just wanted to have my pizza and leave. Good pizza, but to spend 36.99 for a sausage, mushroom, black olive and Pepperoni pizza is a pretty steep price. Actually, there really wasn't an abundance of ingredients either. To complicate things even more, we sat there for over 30 minutes waiting on our food, finally someone came over and said, they were sorry, but the bad news was they had ruined our pizza in the oven, so they had to start all over with our order,,,it took a total hour just to get our Pizza. I visited this place a few weeks back. Although I can understand being short staffed and struggling to get orders out in a timely manner, my order was made wrong not once but twice. I ordered a cocktail assuming that my food would be ready by the time I finished sipping on it (20ish mins. I wanted a philly calzone with no mushrooms. Both times i sent it back asking for no mushrooms. After the second time and waiting close to two hours at this point I asked for it to go. I've never had such bad customer service. The manager never even came to speak with me, my waitress applied a 20% discount to the ticket but I was never addressed by management. It wasn't like I asked, they just never came around to my table or couldn't be bothered. I honestly won't be coming back. The waitresses were great despite the shortages and struggles in the kitchen with new employees. The lack of appropriate and accountable management is pathetic for such a popular place. The staff was obviously frustrated by the lack of management addressing the kitchen issues and I felt so bad I tipped this girl 30%. After hearing some things about this place I hope management didn't withhold her tip, because frankly management didn't deserve the tip. read more

So good!! I've been here twice to eat ~ it has a really neat moroccan-esque atmosphere inside with lots of colorful decor. Both times ordered an appetizer and pizza & both times have had really great service. I love that the pizza dough is made fresh {the white pizza is to die for.} They also have a pretty decent array of bottled & draft beers to choose from... Allergies Allergies Be aware... DO NOT GO if you have allergies... to be honest the pizza tasted good but unfortunately my baby and I have allergies ( dairy and soy) and the waiters couldn't care enough nor did the people in the kitchen care about it either I called the next day to let them know that my food had either soy or dairy in it and both my baby and I suffered from an allergic reaction.. the Lady I spoke with was nice enough to offer me a gift card and told me a manager will contact me to apologize... its been weeks and they just did not care enough to call me back!!! I really did not call for the gift card I just called because they could have killed someone and they should pay more attention !!!!! Went in for the pizza, delighted by the bruschetta. It was AWESOME! Beautiful presentation and wonderful bright flavor. We had a 1/2 & 1/2 pizza House Special and Kosmic Karma. The House was a meat lovers delight, while the Kosmic was a vegetarian treat. I'm not a beer drinker but my husband loved the extensive selection. The Mellow Margarita was fantastic. We were a part of the Sunday after church crowd. The establishment was not completely full. They were completely overwhelmed by the the amount of customers. We were a table of eleven and two of our table received their meal fully forty five minutes before the last of our table. Some of us waited an hour and 15 minutes to be served. The pizza was dry , not a great pizza for the price. The atmosphere is ok the staff all wearing tye dies was cool but didn't make up for the corporate feeling to the place. If I wanna pay that much for a pizza I will go local and hit J&J's on the square at least it's local , and the right kinda atmosphere . parking was non existent had to park a block over in front of 2 other local restaurants that would have been much better time and money spent. read more

Currently my favorite stop for pizza in Denton. I'm a big fan of the thin crust. It reminds me of Shakey's (yes, I'm old); I can't deny there's probably a nostalgic component in effect. it's floury, lightly dusted with cornmeal, and just the right yielding firmness somewhere between Pizza Hut cardboard and Domino's flab. i get onions/double italian sausage on one and black olive/double pepperoni on the other. I usually order it there so I can sit at the bar and have a couple of Yeti stouts, a brew that demands your full attention, and occasionally a bowl of mushroom soup, which was nothing like I expected. I was looking for a mushroom-heavy onion soup, and instead got a rich, cheesy, savory treat that I wasn't sure about initially (had to completely change taste bud direction), but of which I am now a disciple. Goes great with a Yeti, but so would a root canal. I think I'll go there tonight. I found the service good even for a college town, friendly and prompt. After sampling the rest of the menu I may change my review to five stars. read more

Had the pizza with steak, olives, artichokes, mushrooms and extra cheese... Very good. Took it home to reheat in the oven and it was just as good as it was fresh!! Got a couple drinks and their vegan pizza, both pretty good! The only downside is that it's on the expensive side.

I've always been taken fantastic care of here. They've never messed up my order. They burned my pizza once, but they didn't let that pizza get to my table. They apologized and gave me a discount for having to wait. I definitely didn't leave unhappy. Also, their gluten free crust is vegan!! read more
