Wow what a pizza, it was huge! They only offer 1 size but man was it good. It was a traditional NY Style pizza. It is inside the mall but it's the first location in the food court. This was my second time eating at Italian Express. The first time I went, the pizza was great and made fresh to order. I ordered a whole pizza and fettuccine and it was delicious. This time when I went 7:00 PM on a Thursday, which I didn't think was too late, their entire pizza case was full of premade pizzas from the day. I started by asking if I could get a spinach calzone and they proceeded to tell me that they were out of them which implied they weren't gonna make any fresh. OK fine, so I got a premade pepperoni and sausage calzone. Then I ordered a whole pizza with half cheese and half supreme. I thought, since I was ordering a whole pizza, that it would be made fresh to order, which is what I got the first time, but boy was I wrong. I ordered my food, walked away for about 10 minutes, and came back and it was already ready in the box. This was already much faster than the previous time. I thought it was odd, but maybe they were just that quick. I also noticed that in the 10 minutes I've gone to walk around, that they had sold half of the cheese, pizza and half of the pepperoni pizza from inside their case. Pretty shocking to me since the mall was dead at this point. However, once I got home, I realized what they had done. They took 1/2 of the cheese pizza that was in the case and 1/2 of a pepperoni pizza that was in the case and combined them together and put them back in the oven and then directly into my pizza box. The only thing they did differently it was at a couple of vegetables for the supreme half of my pizza. I could tell by how the pizza was cut that it wasn't fresh and it had already been cut hours before. It also had a very strange taste that I can only describe as metallicy. Probably from sitting on the pan in the case all day. This is really disappointing because the first experience was great, but I can't say I'll be back if this is what they try to do to cut costs. It's one thing to not wanna have food waste, but when somebody is paying $26 for a pizza, they should expect it to be made fresh to order and not just taking the leftovers from the unsold pizza and putting in a box. read more

Italian from NY here. Here in Texas it is hard to find great pizza. Who would have thought that in a Denton Tx mall I would come across this phenomenal pizza place. Hidden in the half empty mall I was hungry while I had an emergency phone repair. WOW, I ordered a slice of the stuffed pizza. I was speechless it was so authentic in every way. The next day I had to return to the phone store and I went home with a whole stuffed pizza. IT reminds me of the NY calzones with the little cups of pizza sauce to dip in. Though it seems just a bit pricey, when you are handed the box you will realize that this is the equivalent of at least 2 pizzas in total content. I will be going back A LOT as long as they do not change anything. I have to attribute this review to Richard S. because I was intrigued when I read his review earlier this year. It was because of that review that I recognized the name of this place when passing by a couple of weeks ago and becoming entranced by the pictures they had up! Since then it's been on my mind, and since my husband could eat pizza every day, I knew it was just a matter of time before I returned to try the food. That day has arrived! Considering they are in the mall, I was expecting mostly pizza and apps. They certainly have pizza, the line was full of it and they were varied and huge! However, the pasta on the menu really got my attention, the ravioli and tortellini were both things I wanted to try and the prices were so good! Short of ordering an entire pizza, everything is $7 or less. We took advantage of the lunch special they told us about- 2 slices of pizza and a medium drink for $8.69. I went with the beef and my husband went with some sort of stuffed-like-a-sandwich concoction that I was surprised they allowed to be included in the deal. It was a pepperoni pizza stuffed with pepperoni, ham and sausage. This thing was huge and so thick! It was at least 3 times as heavy as my slice! Anyone who has read my other reviews knows I'm not a huge pizza fan. I generally rate my pizza reviews from general expectations since I'm so picky. This is a review that I can honestly do from my own opinion and taste buds- it's good!! I was REALLY digging their crust, sooo good and crunchy, it was way better than any of the other places in town! The toppings were pretty good, but that cheese would be my second favorite thing about it. I also liked that my slice wasn't greasy, nicely done! Though I believe these slices are well worth $3.69, I am very interested in trying other items on their menu. They have salads, sandwiches, strombolis and calzones too, but I am locked on to their pastas- ALL of them. Can't wait for the next time I'm in the area, definitely going to get a pasta next. There were three orders in front of us and we still got our food in 5-6 minutes. At one point, I tried to take pics of the menu, but it's posted high and I'm short so I was bummed I couldn't get a closer shot. When I went to retrieve our order, the gentleman who had rung us up said he noticed I was trying to take pictures and I might want a to go menu. Not only is that observant and thoughtful and really cool, he took the time to tell me they take call in orders and that the pizzas are 20 inches and come with up to 4 free toppings! I was loving the level of service and attention I got, and not just for a food court, for any restaurant! They were really kind and friendly and attentive and I was surprised to learn they actually offer the first refill free! The only thing that might be confusing is since they have other locations that do offer delivery, the cups may seem misleading. The cups say 'We cater * We deliver' and also lists out all their locations. Delivery applies to the stand alone locations, not here. I just wanted to clarify that before someone gets on here and gives them a bad review for 'false advertising' or something. They were very quick to explain when I asked them about it. When we first arrived, there were only a couple of people finishing up. However, it didn't take long for other people to arrive and swarm. This required some multi-tasking on their part and I think they did a really good job of managing the crowd. I saw another crowd form as we were leaving the food court (okay, I admit it, I was going to Le Macaron) but everyone was served by the time we returned. I was personally impressed. So pleased with our first visit- the pizza, the options, the service and the price- all fantastic! I would absolutely recommend! I had lunch here for the first time in many months and every time I eat here I always realize that I should come here more often. It's the best pizza in the Denton area hands-down. Seriously. I don't know why I don't think of it more often - perhaps because it is in the mall food court so I falsly categorize it as cheap mediocre food. I don't know why but this place doesn't get the attention it deserves. There are other pizzerias in the area that get loads of reviews but yet this place has only a few. The staff members are always extremely welcoming and very energetic, almost excited, to serve their customers. It's fantastic. They always have a wide range of pizza selections available, from the typical cheese pepperoni to double-crust spinach ricotta. They also have incredibly good calzones and stromboli, pastas, and salads. The pizza is typically served by the slice but you can order a whole pizza if you want. The slices are huge but they are thin crust so they are not overly filling and they are not greasy at all. They take your slice and throw it into a hot oven right behind the counter for a minute or two and it comes out perfectly hot with the absolute perfect amount of crisp on the crust but yet its still soft. It's amazing how they do the crust that way - it's almost the texture of a croissant in that it has a slightly crispy outter layer but yet still soft inside. The pizza folds very nicely and holds its shape making it so easy to hold in one hand. Their pastas are great too because their red sauce is among the best I've ever had. They have a side salad and large salads of Greek and Italian varieties. The Greek salad comes with tomato slices, cucumbers, kalamata olives, feta, and romaine. They offer a range of dressings served on the side but I always ask for a bit of their red tomato sauce to use as dressing. They have some fountain sodas behind the counter and a few bottled options. Give this place a try if you are in the area. Don't be fooled by the food court reputation - this place is a top-notch authentic pizzeria. If you eat there and you enjoy it, drop them a review on Yelp to give them some rep because they certainly deserve it. read more

Holy shit ok first of all the only reason I was in this god awful mall in the first place because I got in a car wreck on the 35 on my way to Oklahoma because some idiot didn't tie down his cargo and sent a bunch of doors and shit flying in the road. The "food court" in this mall is two restaurants- Italia Express, and a place called Chow Joe Cuisine. I thought that this couldn't be all the restaurants in this mall. How many restaurants constitute a "court"? Apparently, Golden Triangle Mall believes the answer is: more than one. As an Asian person, the idea of eating at a place called Chow Joe Cuisine made me, to say the least, supremely depressed. Italia Express it was. I'll take my meal between the Buckle and the Sear's As I turned the corner from Chow Joes to Italia Express, the first thing that caught my eye was a lightly bearded man with the eyes of a doe and the gait of an alpha giraffe. This baby faced panty dropper is about to serve me pizza? But then I had the calzone, and, well holy shit. Perfect amount of cheese, pepperoni is amazing, and he used different layers of at least two types of cheese (mozz + goat? Or feta? Unsure). Let's just say, after my first bite, the calzone wasn't the only thing that had white goo inside of it.
