Everywhere I go Mellow Mushroom tends to follow. I actually ate at the one in Athens GA, this afternoon. Although it can be a bit pricy for a pizza joint, this chain is probably my favorite chain of pizza places ever. The pizza is simple put.... amazing. Even the crust. With an iconic mellow mushroom (a mushroom that looks like its stoned), no matter where this place is located, its always good. As for this particular location I had to give it 4 stars instead of 5 simply for the fact that this place is very generic. It lacks the luster and magic that most of these places have. Basically brand new this place has been open for less than a year, and it feels like it. The atmosphere needs... well something. Located in a suburb, it feels kind of like a suburban house. Cookie cutter style. Yet, the pizza is still good, and it's a great atmosphere where you can bring your kids, and not have to worry. One of the major problems is that they stop selling pizza by the slice past 2. So you need to go with a friend, otherwise you'll be taking a lot of pizza home. ***Advice on Serving Size:*** Slice= 1 slice. It's quite large, and since you'll only be going there for lunch, it's a filling lunch that won't break your budget. Small= 1-2 people. We visit this location fairly frequently, and usually love it, but lately the service has been horrible. Today, we have been here over an hour, with 2 very hungry toddlers, and we still have yet to get our food. (We have had appetizers but those are long gone by now). When we arrived over an hour ago, we were seated quickly but after 15+ minutes of waiting for a server and watching other tables get seated and have their drink orders taken, I finally just got up, went to the hostess stand, and asked for a server to visit our table. We love Mellow Mushroom but with 2 little kids, we can't sit and wait over an hour for food. It looks like we will be going to the one in downtown Augusta from now on. read more

Easily Vegan Friendly Reticent to go to a restaurant with limited vegan options of pizza, calzones and a sandwich, we went as part of a group and was MOST PLEASANTLY surprised. The server was VERY FAMILIAR with what items on the menu were vegan. She promptly took our varied order and refilled beverage glasses, brought extra napkins, answered questions with ease. ONLY complaint is that they do not have vegan mayo and we had asked to substitute a sauce to give the sandwiches we had some moisture and they charged us for this. They reversed it when I told them I thought it was a substitution, but BE SURE you ask if there is a charge for any substitution. Friends got the veggie calzones, veggie pizza, I got the tofu sandwich, husband and friend got the tempeh sandwich. EVERYONE enjoyed their meal. Good size portions for the price. I will no longer avoid Mellow Mushroom and will make it a regular stop when I need lunch in a new town. read more

I placed a call ahead with a day or two notice for 10 pizzas for a party. The person that took the order was very helpful and asked all the right prompts like what time I needed them etc. When I arrived to pick them up I could see them ready to go on top of the pizza ovens. The pizzas were hot and fresh and had clearly been baked very shortly before my pickup time which was awesome. The negative, hence 4/5 stars, was the pick up process. The woman working the main register said I needed to talk to the hostess to get them, the hostess took me back to the main registers and then couldn't seem to find my order. She spoke to another woman and then they went "looking again". The hostess came back and looking slightly confused then she said I needed to go to the bar. The bartender was a rockstar and between pouring to keep the bar and waitresses needing table drinks happy she quickly got me settled up and out the door with my order. If pick ups are handled at the bar, which is not uncommon, please do a better job conveying it to the rest of the staff and maybe some signs for customers would help. I'm glad they have a Mellow Mushroom here. We used to love going to the Greensboro location. I used to always get pesto bread (it's not on the menu anymore but they will still make it- imagine cheesy garlic bread but with pesto instead and side of marinara) and the lil' caesar salad add chicken. I've also tried their steak & cheese and the meatball subs and both were delicious. The philosopher's pie pizza is delicious, however, I tend to not get pizzas from here. Price is part of it, but I also never want to commit to a full pizza. I would like to try all of their pizzas, but wish they had slices available all the time instead of just at lunch. I am a fan of this particular Mellow Mushroom and the one in Augusta. I have been to many of them throughout the south and many are a hit and miss. I have to say their bartenders are the best in the area. Yes the pizzas can get a bit pricey but if you want cheap or no crowds then stay with Papa Johns, Dominos, or some store bought pizza (@Shawn M.). I have only been to the bar for drinks and usually have a few as I wait for my food but in that short amount of time I do enjoy the atmosphere. read more

The calzones are fairly large. My kids love the cheese pizza. Casual atmosphere and drink menu would make a nice place to hang out.

A great place for groups, kids, or groups of kids :) The pizza is pretty decent, but I always opt for the calzone. Pineapple and ham is my favorite, and it's HUGE so be prepared to take some home. The initial service was a little slow when we went, but it was right after church on Sunday and they were pretty crowded. Decent prices and convenient location make it a local favorite for lunch or dinner. read more

I am going to ignore the obvious 60's drug theme of the restaurant's decor and focus on the fact that the food was actually pretty good, if not a bit pricey for a pizza joint. There are a lot of specialty pizzas available as well as nearly 40 or 50 different types of beer, which doesn't interest me personally because I don't drink alcohol for health reasons. The place is super crowded after everyone gets off work and there are a crap load of kids yelling and running around unattended, which is more of the parent's fault than the restaurants. However, it does bring down the dining experience so perhaps the management should look into enforcing some form of noise ordinance inside the restaurant itself. I had a hawaiian style pizza and it was good. The dough was soft/fresh and the sauce was tangy, just the way I like it. The quick and dirty: Food is great, the restaurant atmosphere and noise level is hideous and the drug theme needs to go away. read more

Mellow Mushroom really does know pizza. The pizza at a restaurant does not taste like the pizza we get from the delivery chains. It's better, much better. I ordered a 10" Kosmic Karma:: Red Sauce base pizza with Mozzarella, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Spinach, Feta, Roma Tomatoes and a Pesto swirl. And a drink for under twenty dollars. The pizza tasted great. The 10" is a great size for one person or two. The vibe is funky, the music is loud but you do not have to shout to talk to the person with you. read more

I had my first experience w MM in GA in March 2020. It was my daughter's 30 b'day and she wanted a pizza party. There were 7 in our party including 2 young children. We were seated quickly and the service was great. I ordered a house salad but was a little disappointed w the lack of veggies included. I ordered a sausage and onion pizza. Our favorite go to place in Evans for pizza, apps, and subs. Love the hummus, pretzels, and the salads are always fresh. I've never had a bad specialty pizza here.. recently tried the Pacific Rim and it was very good. Love the Italian and Meatball subs as well. We have always encountered a friendly staff. So...I love Mellow Mushroom! Yes, it's a chain, but their potato pizza is to die for! (It's not on the menu anymore, but definitely can be requested) occasionally I'll get someone that's new or in some cases, lazy, and will say that it's no longer available. Went at the end of lunch time (on a Thursday) around 2 and the windows were dirty (children's hand prints and smudges) and the floors hadn't been swept. Although their regular pizza is like eating cafeteria pizza their specialty pizzas are awesome! We liked The Cesar and the one that had potatoes on it. The marinara sauce that comes with the garlic bread is amazing. It is a bit higher priced than I would like to pay but it is good. The staff is to casual saw waitstaff sitting with a customer/friend chatting away in our section of the restaurant. They weren't very attentive after we had paid our check, would've liked another glass of water but she was a little busy chatting with her friend in our section. Also when we came in wasn't sure what to do because there was no sign to wait or seat myself and there was no host at the host stand. They make a great capresi salad, and their pretzels are awesome. The service is friendly and quick. The atmosphere is bright, bubbly and fun. This is an excellent place to take a group of people, regardless of age. Kids love the murals and the menu, and the crayons and coloring-book page placemats help to keep them busy. We've eaten here so many times. We are loyal customers and have spent lots of money on family events. The other day wer gout a pizza and it was like eating shoe leather. The hamburger was so over done. There was a few olives, a couple onions. HORRIBLE! I asked my husband to call as it was my birthday meal. It shows rushed lack of concern for quality product. Girl taking order didnt know what hamburger was on pizza. Obviously new. Ok but sign of poor customer quality and service. I've ordered Mellow Mushroom pizza for many years. It's great! They do a wonderful job. Tonight I ordered by phone. The young lady took my card number after my order so it would be paid for when my daughter came to pick it up. I ended up going to pick up the order, which they said would take an hour. When I got there they asked for my card again. I explained that I had already paid by phone. They said that whoever is took my order by phone must have written my card number down but not entered it into the computer. So I asked for the piece of paper where my card number was written down. They could not find it and said she may have thrown it in the trash can. I was very upset that my card number was taken and not respected. No one should take your card number and write it down then lose it or throw it away. It should have been entered into the computer system as I gave it to her. They would not tell me who took my order and she did not give her name by phone. I had to go back out to my car and get the card again and pay for it again, hoping that I would not be charged $50 twice. This is very unprofessional and I will not be ordering with a card number by phone again. This was not handled in a Safe way at all. I feel like I need to cancel my card now. I'm very disappointed in Mellow Mushroom staff & have lost my trust in them to keep payment methods secure. read more
