Oh my goodness. This pizza is the Bomb. It came to our table hot and fresh, absolutely delicious. We had the Great White and the Funky Q. Chicken. The Great White has an olive oil and garlic base. It's topped with four fresh cheeses, Roma tomatoes, sweet onions and fresh basil. It melts in your mouth. The Funky Q. Chicken has a BBQ sauce base. It's topped with onions, chicken, and bacon. Both of these pizzas were SO good. This is a must try. It's now going to be a "must" when I visit Alabama. It's that good. read more

I'm a huge lover of mellow mushroom pizza. We stop anytime we see one when traveling. We went with some family for lunch on a Friday afternoon. Our waiter didn't write down any of our drinks and came back 3 times to ask again because he couldn't get it right. We then waited an hour and 15 minutes for our pizza! We were getting ready to leave because that's ridiculous. Then I asked to speak to a manager and our waited told me he would have her come over. I had to ask him 2 more times. The manager was not phased or apologetic for our wait or bad experience. So disappointing. read more

One of the only chain pizza places that always has consistent food. Service was good, pizza was great, and the wings (first time that I tried them) were almost better than the pizza! We had a pleasant experience at Mellow Mushroom. The staff was very friendly and sat us quickly. We order the Pretzel Bites with the beer cheese dip. The pretzel bites tasted more like standard bread bites and had hardly any pretzel taste. They were still good. I wish the beer cheese dip would have been hot instead of cold. We are awaiting Hurricane Michael. We're trying to ride out the narly waves and considering it hits tomorrow, we needed one last good meal in case this may be our last. What better place to come chill and have some stone baked pizza and some roasted wings than the best pizza joint on the coast, Mellow Mushroom. We were also feeling kinda mellow due to the pouring rain drenching our supposed to be sunny vacay, so mellow mushroom seemed to fit the mood. The atmosphere here is great, service is better. Our server Emily ensured us we won't die, but worse case, said she would send us packing with free to-go drinks and a to-go order of pretzel bites for writing this review. I've been to several Mellow Mushrooms around the Southeast and this one is at the bottom of the list. Our waitress seemed annoyed at our party of nine. When my father-in-law asked for a coke and rum, the waitress told him (complete with an eye roll) that they didn't have rum. We were sitting right by the bar and saw three different kinds of rum sitting behind the bar. Odd. Two out of three pizzas were cold by the time they got out to us and when we asked for warmer pizzas, we got another eye roll from the waitress, so we decided to drop it and just eat the cold pizza. I would take advantage of the unique, seafood centered restaurants in Foley or Gulf Shores instead of coming here. read more

What can I say - I have loved MM since my days in college (13 years ago)! I was skeptical that the Foley location could not recreate the yummy goodness of my Auburn memories but I was pleasanlty surprised! I have tried the Cosmic Karma, MeatLovers, Hawaiian and a few different calzones - no complaints here just good food. If you are a beer fan you should know that they have the biggest beer selection in the area which makes this a weekly ritual for me. I love good food and great beer. You can also join the beer club in which you try different types of beer and then are able to buy beer at a discount once you have fulfilled the required beverages on the beer list. Typical Mellow Mushroom pizza, which is great for chain pizza joints. Our favorites are the Thai-Dye and Bayou Blue. The bbq chicken isn't bad either. I love that you can do half & half. What I didn't love about this location that earned it a two whole stars: the service. It was pretty horrible, which is saying something coming from me because I'm usually super easy going about service and very low maintenance. The waitress, who was a total dingbat, spent 10 minutes talking to the men at the table about what beers she likes, but completely forgot my tea. Hello! Half-way through our meal, my husband pointed it out to her, she did a child-like dance with her hands on her face all embarrassed, apologized and brought it out. A simple "I'm sorry" would have been fine. There were three groups of two at the table and it never occurred to her to ask if we wanted the checks separated. We put it on one card and gave cash to the person using their card. We finished eating and sat and talked for a few minutes, with empty glasses in front of us. Went here while on vacation last weekend. My BF and I shared the stuffed portobella mushroom appetizer. A huge portabella mushroom stuffed with artichokes, sundried tomatoes and feta cheese on top of a mixed greens salad. It was very tasty and the greens were a nice touch. We also shared the Holy Shiitake pizza, with all sorts of exotic mushrooms and drizzled with truffle oil. Very rich, very tasty and very much hurt my stomach. This place is fun and they definitely have a large variety of stuff on their menu (I highly recommend the pretzels!!) but there is just something about their dough that is very unsettling to many people's tummies. Every time we eat here I get an upset tummy, within an hour or so of finishing my meal. I thought it was just me and then discovered my hubby suffers in the same manner. When my mom came to town for a concert, we thought we'd take her there for the experience of the place. We figured we'd take some pepto and just enjoy it (it is delicious and all). About an hour or so later, well into the concert, my mom asked to leave due to her upset tummy. :( They use all yeast dough and most pizza places do not. We stopped at the Mellow Mushroom for lunch on our way to a Gulf Shores resort. Coming from the Chicago area, we consider ourselves pizza snobs. Well, the Mellow Mushroom met our expectations for pizza. We started with the pretzel appetizers. They were brought to our table fresh out of the oven and the portions were sizable. I preferred the garlic butter and parmesan dipping sauce as well as the mustard. We ordered one of the specialty pizzas--the Funky Q. Chicken. Loved the combination of the BBQ chicken with the applewood smoked bacon. The crust had a great taste--not sure what they put in their dough, but it really pulled the whole pizza together, and it was cooked perfectly for my taste. I had such high hopes as we were visiting an elderly friend and took the food to her home. We were all disappointed. I'm glad you care enough to respond, but talk is inexpensive, your pizza was not. I have never had anyone so responsive to criticism. I'm amazed at how seriously my critical review was taken. In retrospect, we now realize that the pizza crusts could not have been cooked correctly. The order was ready way before promised and I think someone forgot to cook the doughy, chewy pizza. My bad for not inquiring at time of order the cost and also that I did not realize how huge 'large' is. The toppings and salads were excellent. We choose the mighty mushroom after a long day on the beach and we needed a place for a drink and a snack. We had the half and half mighty meaty and house special. House special was better by far. So I may have been spoiled when I went to Denver earlier this year and hung out at the MM out there, but this place still held a candle to its sister. Came here with my parents, my sister, her husband, and two kids. We arrived around dinner time, but it wasn't crazy busy, which was shocking. My niece has gluten/dairy allergies, so she is pretty limited on what she can eat. What I love about MM is that they not only have gluten free dough, but they also topped her pizza with vegan cheese! That made her, and us, happy. We ended up ordering: Magical Mystery Tour (Pesto base pizza and crust with Button and Portobello Mushrooms, Mozzarella, Spinach, Feta and Jalapenos) and Mellowterranean (Olive Oil and Garlic base pizza with Chicken, Onions, Roasted Red Bell Peppers, Black Olives, Chives, Mozzarella, Feta, and a side of Tzatziki sauce). Prices seemed slightly higher, reflecting its beach location, but the same buttery crusted baked pizza dough smells wafted through the air. Our house special was superb as always and we also sampled Thai-dye and Saucy Sombrero pizzas. Almost legendary side salads were equally delicious. When I found a foreign object in my salad, the issue was addressed and rectified quickly and to our satisfaction. I don't usually eat pizza at the beach, but when I do it will be at Mellow Mushroom. The selection of beer is was surprisingly vast and varied. Everything was fairly priced and they have happy hour every day from 4-7 which was great. I had the jerk chicken pizza with an Abita and it was a great combination! In the middle of drinking our beers, the power went out and they instantly offered to box up our stuff if we wanted to leave but we decided to have fun and eat in the dark. The waitstaff was great. We ordered a large Hawaiian, boy was it big! The pizza came sliced in 8 pieces. The crust was great and so was the pizza. They offered a happy hour between 4pm and 6pm.
