The thin crust pizza had a crunchy crust, many toppings, and was delicious. 5/5 My friend ordered a build a gluten free pizza with chicken, onions, tomatoes, feta cheese, and jalapeño's. Visited recently. Ordered large Chef Salad. It was good but not a good value. For $11+ it should have been twice as big. Salad ingredients are not expensive so yes, it should have been larger. It came in a shallow bowl about 9-10" wide and about two inches deep but the bowl had a 2" flat edge all the way around it which gave the appearance that it was larger. I won't order any more salads from Mellow Mushroom. They either need to cut the price or upsize the contents. read more

Be careful when placing online orders through their website. We've always enjoyed Mellow Mushroom and particularly the Jones Valley location. So when a family group was gathering at my house for Easter Sunday, we thought pizza delivery would be great. I went to the Mellow Mushroom website and placed an order at 8:30am for delivery the following day, Easter Sunday. The order was received, my credit card was charged, and I got an email confirmation. All good, so I went about my day. At 10:40pm, 14 hours after I placed my order, I got a call from the Jones Valley location telling me that they're sorry, but they're closed on Easter Sunday and can't fill my order. WHAT??? It's very late, the day before a holiday, and I have a gathering of people coming to my house at noon - and you're telling me now? How could the system take my order and confirm it when you're closed? The representative said, "I'm sorry, I don't have an answer for that ma'am." I've had trouble in the past with the operating hours at Jones Valley differing from what's on the website and social media, but this one took the cake. And the lack of concern for the predicament they had put me in was the final straw. I completed a survey that they sent so management would know I was dissatisfied, but no response. This place is my go-to bad day cure. It's a comfy, tidy spot with the best eats. The host in the cardigan is always friendly and on top of it and began recognizing me after just a few visits which I thought was SO nice. Every server I've had has been incredibly warm and attentive. I rotate through a few favorites and they've always met my expectations, but it's clear if they ever failed to it would be addressed promptly and kindly (assuming they don't catch it first!) This is among the best pizza I ever had! I don't want to sound like jerk, but I moved to Alabama from a place with many amazing restaurants, and I find many in Huntsville incredibly disappointing. You have no idea how bad you have it here... If my wife and I decide to go out for food, there is a 75% chance we are going here. I've had Mellow Mushroom in Gatlinburg, and it was the worst pizza I ever had, but this location is the exact opposite. Food was mediocre. Nothing to special. Had a cheese pizza with extra cheese & it went cold quickly. Friendly service for the first visit. Salad was horrible though, house salad with ranch. Ranch is that yucky mayonnaise based and not enough was given for a to go salad. It was that cheesy spring mix on top were 3 tomatoes, a teaspoon of black olives, shaved parm which is bitter, and well it was not enough toppings for such a large amount of lettuce. Perhaps I'll visit again with friends & try something different. So we ordered drinks (happy hour was til 6 pm and we missed by a couple minutes!) and the wine was 1/2 price glasses so yes please and thank you!! We also had the pretzel bites and when I checked in... guess what!!! They were free with a pizza purchase!! The pretzel bites were so good too and the dipping cheese was super delish!! ZERO STARS for two staff! Went last night after arriving in town for Christmas. Horrible experience with the staff! Our original waiter accidentally dumped two full glasses of ice water from his tray on my 13 month old granddaughter. He felt terrible. Of course she's screaming! She was drenched head to toe! My pants were wet as I was beside her. My daughter's dress ever got splattered! It was the host that acted so rude when we asked for another table. My daughter is tending to the screaming child to console her and get her out of wet clothes. The host said to me we have no other tables since you have to have a high chair. If you'll give him time to clean the table you can still sit here. The chairs, plates, and everything on the table is wet. Water and ice were all over! I said here's three booths. Can we put her at the end of the table? She literally turned around and walked off! Another staff person went and started setting up another table. The original waiter was still cleaning up the water. They finally move us to another table and we had a new server. She acted as though we totally inconvenienced her. She was rude in the way she spoke to us and to the way she slung things on our table. Her tone and shortness was unreal. At one point, I said to her, I'm sorry we have to ask but we had to swap tables. Her response was... oh I'm well aware. I'm like Wow! We should've got up and walked out. We waited on our food, ate and left. It's bugged me all day to think how the host and the 2nd waiter treated us. I totally understand accidents happen but the manager never came to us to say.. Ate at Jones Valley Mellow Mushroom and have many times. Food was good as always! Problem came when we we got our to go boxes for our pizza. When we got our large box for our pizza, wife opened box and I was preparing to put pizza in and noticed a centipede in the box! We closed it and waited patiently and quietly for our waitress to not draw attention from the full restaurant. When waitress came back I quietly whispered in her ear that there was a centipede in the box, she took the box and immediately and came back with another. Summary: Great food, beer, service, and vibe. While Mellow Mushroom is a restaurant chain, and this is only my second dining experience with them, both times I thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere and look forward to them opening up a spot in Los Angeles. If you haven't been to a Mellow Mushroom, then what you are missing is 1) a unique, quirky atmosphere that is different at each location, 2) an excellent beer selection from all over (including whatever is local), 3) fantastic pizzas, including the Holy Shiitake, and 4) friendly, attentive service. The Magic Mushroom soup is also excellent, and if you don't like pizza there are also sandwiches and salads and desserts available. While the pizzas are generally really good and unique, the service at the bar is not very good. When I go there alone I usually sit at the bar. A month or so ago I sat at the bar and had a hard time getting the bartender's attention as she was deep into conversation with two other customers who must have been close friends or family. They just talked and talked. I finally got her attention and thought I ordered but was not sure if she actually put it in the system. After about 15 minutes I started wondering if I was going to get my order, a small Italian Hoagie. The place was about empty and from where I was sitting I could see the cooks cleaning up after the noon rush. I was about to ask the bartender about my order but she walked off from behind the counter and went all the was past the kitchen and into a back office. So, I left. I was contacted later by the manager and received a gift card for another food item. And an apology for the way the bartender behaved. So, pizza good, bar service not so good. read more

First Timers to a Mellow Mushroom, I've passed a few in my wanderings, but never dropped into one before today. We arrived at 11:30am, place hardly had anyone in it at that time, but it soon started to fill up. Ordered a 14 inch pizza, half sausage & mushroom, the other half pepperoni. Also 10 BBQ wings for an appetizer, and I went with some Truck Stop Ale (local, from Gadsden, AL) to drink, while my fiancee had a Long Island Iced Tea (and later a Grateful Dead). Wings were decent, not the best we've ever had, but not bad. Pizza was good, tasty. I enjoyed the sausage & mushroom toppings quite a bit. Only wish my Truck Stop Ale hadn't come in a can, it still was decent (ordered it because it was local). Friendly service, nice atmosphere to enjoy a lunch. Our server Hollington was very attentive & nice, she suggested the Grateful Dead for my fiancee, and my fiancee enjoyed the drink. We could have done without all the Football Games, but I'm sure a lot of the people that frequent the Mellow Mushroom come to watch the Games. Surprised the Bar area isn't larger though. Overall a good experience, we'd certainly come back if in the area or if we were passing by another Mellow Mushroom. read more

Average is the best way to describe the Mellow Mushroom. Average food, average service, average, average, average. Nothing remarkable about anything. We had never eaten here before and decided to try it out on a Sunday afternoon. It was a little over a 20 minute wait for a party of six. Somehow a larger party that came about 10 minutes after us got a table before us, curious, but not egregious. Our waitress wasn't rude, but she certainly wasn't friendly. Indifferent would probably be the best description. The bruschetta and pretzel bites were delicious. The pretzel bites come with a beer cheese, that was not overpoweringly beer flavored which was nice. Sandwiches are passable entertainment. Kids mac and cheese was a very meager portion. Baked wings were good, but if you like more than a hint of sauce on your wings, definitely request extra on the side. The pizza, which should have been the star of the show was very disappointing. It was akin to something you'd get any of the three major fast food pizza joints. Prices don't reflect the quality of the food you're getting. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, certainly not drive over the mountain specifically for it. read more

We've eaten there before we became vegan and thought it was just ok but vegan option in this area are limited. Well to our surprise the vegan pizza was AMAZING!!! I really enjoyed this place. It was my first time here and came highly recommended. The staff out front was really nice. I was very thrown off and confused by them. I didn't know if they worked there or were just customers. I guess they did work there. They were the mask police, albeit, very nice. Our waitress was the nicest. She was really patient and kind. Our food was terrific. We got a Cesar Salad and a buffalo chicken pizza. The bread on the pizza was the best part. Some of the waitresses here came off as snobby with bad attitudes though. I'm happy we got the nice waitress because this review could have gone the other way. Overall, I would come back and recommend it. If you come here and get a bad server though, it wouldn't surprise me one bit! It could probably do them some good getting rid of the mean waitresses that I'm sure are driving away business!!! read more
