I ordered half gourmet white and half house special. When I received the order it was mostly gourmet white and only two slices were house special. I also requested pineapples on the pizza instead of ground beef because someone in our party doesn't eat ground beef. I called the location to make sure there was no ground beef and substituted with pineapple. She told me the Italian sausage looks like ground beef. I requested her to ask the kitchen and they said the order is correct. The order was not correct. Firstly it wasn't half and half. Secondly there were no pineapples on the pizza and we were pretty sure what we saw were ground beef. Pretty disappointed for our first experience. read more

It pains me to write this review. Used to love going here but hadn't been in a while until recently. Have gone back in a few times over the last few months and have regretted it each time. Although they have done a lot of work on the building to get it looking better, the new staff really leaves a lot to be desired as well as the food. Have been going to this location for the last 10 years or so and it was always good. Not sure what happened. Too many changes and the service and the food have really suffered from it. It is good to go in and see some familiar faces now and then, but other than the beer selection and chatting with an old buddy at the bar, I don't see any reason to go back. I hate to say it, but they really need to do something to turn the place around and get back to where it used to be or they might be in trouble as I have talked to a few people that have the same opinion as well. Me, my husband and our 2 kids went there for the first time last night and I was very disappointed. The waitress was very unfriendly, she never smiled not even once. We each ordered a 10' pizza, my husband ordered a salad and I ordered a pretzel to go. After waiting 20 mins to get a table (not to bad) we waited another hour to get some of our food. They brought out two of the pizza and walked away with out saying anything. So we sit there thinking the other 2 were coming she just couldn't tote the all. It took 10 mins for her to bring the thrid pizza, sat it down and walked away. Came back 5 mins later to check on the table beside us, and look over to see us not eating, (waiting on the rest of the food) and says we are recording the last pizza because it burnt, and started walking away, I stopped her and asked about the salad, she looked at the table and walked away. When she came back with it we had already split the cold pizzas we had and started eating. As we finish eating she brings the third pizza (under cooked). I asked for a pizza box to put it in and she gives me the flimsy left over box. I ask for a real pizza box and she gives me pushback about how she only had medium and large (because having to much room in the box is wrote than stating slices on top of each other) I said forget it and reminded her about my pretzel. She brings it to me in a large pizza box. And says she took the last pizza off the ticket , however the cost was 62$ ridiculous! read more

I am not one of those......that being said i would like to give an realistic review of the Mellow Mushroom on University Blvd, I eat as many as 4 times a week at the MELLOW MUSHROOM on OLD SHELL ROAD.... The staff is friendly and dedicated to giving the best service possible, and smart enough to realize that their own future is connected to how well the store does....Which is great as a customer the last thing i want to do is eat in a hostile environment. No problem here. The waiters staff just let you eat and try to take care of you not hustling and trying to con you in to ordering things you don't want just to drive up your ticket total. I hate being sales pitched and hustled while i am trying to eat. For a chain store i find the Mellow Mushroom to be exceptional in that regard. They let you eat in peace... I love their salads and I love their wraps . Their Pizza dough is Rich, unique, and slightly sweet hybrid of flours which because of its richness, taste best to me in a thin crust cooked thoroughly. Their herb vinegerette dressing is the best I've ever had because its blended so well right there on the premises...Their sandwiches don't move me as much because i personally like Italian style new orleans po boy bread better. I guess thats why i like the wraps best....Great vegetarian entrees, great alternative beers, gluten free in some cases great hummus.. All in all even though i like some things much better than other things on the menu, my girlfriend seems to like all the stuff i don't which suggests that a broad range of pallatte is calculated into their menu. In other words there is something there to please everyone meat eaters or vegetarians, heavy eaters light eaters or just People who wanna have a decent tasting beer and get a great musical education on the stereo!..Plus I like theMellow Mushroom on University better than midtown because of the Staff; Less pop culture contamination, and a purity of work ethic makes them more professional in my mind. Or more user friendly to squares like me; LESS REMOVED AND CONDESCENDING THAN THEIR HIPSTER COUNTER PART IN MIDTOWN........So Eat Drink Get a musical education in a place that lets its employees and customers be themselves.The Mushroom is well thought out and everything they sell is there for a reason, and adds to the menu, free of token or filler items on menus that dominate other chain stores. THE MELLOW MUSHROOM ON UNIVERSITY COMBINES THE POWER AND QUALITY OF A CHAIN STORE WITH THE SERVICE AND FRIENDLINESS OF YOUR MOMS HOUSE...IF YOU LOOK AT THE MENU LONG ENOUGH YOU WILL FIND SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE . I used to really like this place, but today I had one of the worst restaurant experiences of my life there. After waiting forever for the server to take my order, they basically got everything wrong from there.... My tortilla soup arrived without the avocado. I asked why and the server said they were out. Ok, would have ordered something else if I had known cuz I love avocado and really ordered the soup for the avocado and cheese topping. Next my Jerk chicken sandwich finally arrived but half of the ingredients were missing. No tomatoes, no spinach, no pesto mayo. So I had to go to the counter to send it back because the server was again MIA. They said they would redo it for me. So I sat down and waited for a long time. Finally they brought my sandwich but this time it was on the wrong bread, missing the mushrooms and had SOOO much spices on it that it was inedible. At this point, I felt like, ok.. I can't get a sandwich here at all today. I might as well just pay for my soup and leave. So that is what I did. I was SO sad because I just had the same sandwich there a few weeks ago and it was delicious. I actually cried when I left the restaurant. I was still hungry and felt sad because I really did like this place. I have been there many times and it was usually pretty good. I guess it is going downhill.
