Holy Shiitake pizza! First time trying this location and it went really well. Started with the meatballs appetizer, it was served hot and very tasty with marinara, vodka and pesto. Our pizzas came out piping hot as well. I had the Holy Shiitake, and I absolutely loved this medley of flavors. The gluten free crust was better than most and gave good balance to the rich mushrooms and topping flavors. I sampled the veggie pizza as well, and it had flavors that really popped. I have a long history with this place and I love it. The inside is groovy, fitting for college students or families. They have a good selection of beers and foods. Service is always pretty good though it can be a little slow. Prices aren't bad. Their pizza is always great and they have some unique toppings, though it's their pizza dough that I love. Their sandwiches are also quite good and they'll make older items that aren't on the menu anymore. I used to come here for a jerk chicken hoagie and it's not on the menu anymore but they made it for me anyway. Service is always great when I come in. I came in maybe a hour or even a little less before closing and they were still very friendly. I was immediately greeted by a hostess. I believe my waitress name was Hailey, she waited on me previously always very friendly. I absolutely love the meaty monster pizza. That's my go to! Sorry, but I'm not eating a calzone that went to my friend and they took a bite out of it. We were a group of 15 people and I'd called ahead TWICE to make sure we had a table reservation and they still weren't ready for us at the door. A live band was playing on the patio and they wanted to seat us out there, but we refused because we had an elderly family member with us. This was my first time at this location and it's smaller then another one I had visited as it has a U shape for the sitting area. Service was great as the person who waited on me was super helpful and didn't rush me. The pizza was good but was missing a couple of items that were supposed to be added after baking I dug in so I didn't check to see if they were out or forgot to add it. I also got the strawberry lemon limeade which was tasty as well. As someone who is sensitive to bright lights, loud noise and a busy atmosphere I was comfortable dinning in. I'm not sure how high their staff is, but a sealed pizza was delivered by an Uber Eats driver and this is what I almost took a bite of. Like, Mellow Mushroom's isn't Pizza Hut with its notorious little plastics circle tables in the middle. This is straight a random fragment of plastic that was on a slice of pizza. Had a chance to eat at The Mellow Mushroom in Mobile. It's in a good location right across from the University of South Alabama. They have inside booths, outside seating and bar seating. We ordered the pretzel bites which come with both marinara and beer pub cheese. They give you about 20-25 bites and they are delicious. We had the Pacific Rim stone baked pizza. It was hot and fresh. It has pineapple, bacon, honey ham and caramelized onions as well as jalapeños. The jalapeños give it a nice spice. The service was good and the overall experience was nice. read more

Wait, wut??! University is our local go-to MM we've been going to for YEARS, long before all the other chains in neighboring areas popped up. We love MM because it isn't always about getting pizza, I have serious cravings for their hummus, hoagies, and salads. And nice craft beer selections. Haven't been by there in a while and realized we were way past due (it's a bit of a drive from home). Stopped in last night to discover that their hummus has been removed from the menu. Are you kidding me?? One of their tastiest and iconic dishes and certainly the best in town. Not to mention the ONLY healthy app option. It's one of their signature dishes and we NEVER go there and not order the hummus. That would be sacrilege! You know it's good when customers go there specifically for it... I mean it's just hummus! But it's AMAZING! And now poof, they just randomly decide to take it off? Not even the pillowy flatbread remains! I really wish the places we enjoy the most would STOP jacking with their menus! So many places are closing or trying to stay open with minimal staff, but this place chooses to randomly remove an item that everyone loves? Are they TRYING to lose customers?? I seriously don't even want to bother going if hummus isn't an option. Not sure what the other locations are serving, and don't really care. This location was the original one to our area for decades. They need to stop altering the menu based on what other locations are doing. We want our hummus! Convenient seating at the bar, booths, or tables outside. The pizza options are GREAT! Delicious pizzas! Absolutely love the fresh salad options. Checked in with YELP and was delighted to see a FREE PRETZEL BITE appetizer appear in the app. I took advantage of the free appetizer and we loved every bit of it. See my pics below. Food is always good but the service is some of the worst you'll ever get. Prepare to wait 20 mins to be asked what you want to drink, 30 mins for your food, and yet another 30 for your check. The waitresses never check in on you to see if you need a refill or if your food is correct. At least not any that I've ever had here and I swear to you I've been here 10 times. Like I said, the pizza is consistently great so I can tolerate a lot for good food, however the staff seriously needs to get their act together. If you don't wanna work here then don't. Don't make it your tables problem, no one's forcing you. I literally had to wave my waitress over to bring me my check after waiting on it for half an hour and she was legitimately just standing around moping and talking to her friends. Then she acted mad that I bothered her to do her job. All I said was "may I have my check please when you get a chance " and she was so irritated, she didn't say anything she just walked away and came back a few minutes later with the bill. Y'all desperately need better workers. I've been so patient and understanding in the past about it but this previous trip just solidified that I'll be ordering takeout only from now own. We walked in and we're told they would have to sit us outside (55F) because we had our dog. My significant other has a service dog. He said, that's fine but he's a service dog. They said oh cool yeah that's fine. We were seated in a booth. Another server came up, very authoritative, and asked if we were "certified" and air signed a piece of paper. Now mind you, my significant other is missing an arm and a leg. Quite obviously a service dog but neither here nor there. #1 there is no "certification" a service dog doesn't have to have professional training (ours does through). We hesitated and then he just said yes so she would leave. ADA states the only thing a place can ask is "is it a service dog, and what tasks the service dog is trained to perform for you?". Recently, the restaurant has had a complete change of management and personel. As such, the atmosphere has taken a decline. I suspect by the empty tables and take-out window that sales are on a decline. I recommend playing 70's music to go with the 'hippy' genre with the tye-dye, peace signs, etc. Instead dining-in guests were subject to loud hiphop. It seemed that the cook may have had control over the music through his phone. Any time a song started that was not hiphop, the cook would go to his phone and the song would change. The pizza is great, but that didnot keep the second location open here in Mobile. Atmosphere means alot. read more

So today was apparently the busiest day they had and the day they made the most money..... this is the fact the manager Jade made a point to highlight very emphatically as a reason for 1) not having all the ingredients available and 2) for onions being in a pepperoni pizza. A wedge salad lacking bacon, cheese and tomatoes is just lettuce with ranch....not worth the full charge. If so much money is being made, I would highly recommend some being spent in training their staff. 1) waitress staff to respond appropriately to customers. When a customer expresses concern over food cross contamination, the response of "I don't know how that happened. It's a pepperoni pizza so onions don't come on it. And our kitchen is closed so there's nothing for me to do about it". And when 3-4 major ingredients are missing for a plate, the response of "I don't control our ingredients and how things go" when we ask if a full price will be still be charged for a salad lacking 3-4 ingredients are missing.... Not an appropriate response. Stating to a customer that you're making so much money off of them as a Whole but not willing to do much more about a sour experience.... Not cool. First time going.... Won't be returning. Waitress was snarky and then came back to apologize for coming off rude. Manager didn't really make it much better. Had some decor in acknowledging the cross contamination but didn't do much else. Free brownies doesn't equate for having a rude waitress and just an awkward exchange and weird money reason for things being off the whole time. We are utterly disgusted with this establishment. We came here for my sons birthday and ordered three small pizzas. We waited over an hour for our food. By the time we reached the last few pieces of one of our pizzas we realized their was a huge wad of hair baked into the crust. It was all over the plate and weaved into the crust when we showed the waitress she let us know she was going to mention it to the GM. The GM gets to our table and let's us know it was her hair that was cooked into the pizza and that we will be discounted for the inconvenience of eating her HAIR. When we do receive the check we see the discount of $3.75 on a $15 pizza. I don't think taking off $3.75 can make up for eating someone's hair. read more

My Personal Preference Palate Pleasin' Pizza Pantheon! Mellow has it ALL going on with their pizzas, and this particular location also has the people personality as the special topping! I have literally tried EVERYTHING on Melllow's menu and enjoy it all. And, impressively, the franchise has mastered consistency. Whether I've dined in Mobile, Montgomery, Atlanta, or Phoenix you know what you get and it's all good. So, what do I prefer? My favorite Specialty Pies are the House Special (5 meats & 5 veggies woo woo!) and the Holy Shitakie Pie (Olive Oil & Garlic base with button & portabello mushrooms...finished with some garlic aoili). My fav custom order is a thin crust pepperoni, mushroom & jalapeno with extra cheese. I also love the Chef Salad, but substitute the ham with blackened tofu. A hidden gem here in the Mobile area is the Swimmin' Chicken Wrap (a large chicken tortilla wrap topped with avacado & a ladle of tortilla soup).
