The delivery that I picked up myself had minor issues, the door dash order had to be cancelled because the person could not find my house after two direct discussions with them and an additional two discussions with door dash. In order to get my money back I called Mellow Mushroom and they said door dash had to refund my money. I called door dash and after a 24 minute call in which door dash had to call Mellow Mushroom, I was assured that my refund will be coming in 24-48 hours. Am I satisfied? NO. read more

I've always heard Mellow Mushroom was good, but I never got the chance to try myself. Well, tonight was my night. I got a medium pizza with tons of veggie toppings and Follow Your Heart vegan cheese. I'm especially grateful that they had vegan cheese that was a brand other than Daiya. Daiya is the most disgusting vegan cheese I have ever had and I can't believe that anybody ever buys it anywhere, yet I see it on menus all the time. Follow Your Heart is good vegan cheese. Mellow Mushroom is best pizza in Somerset in my opinion. Hand crafted and delicious toppings. That said, the only negative is the gluten free pizza is disappointing. My oldest son doesn't eat gluten so I have to buy separate gluten free pizza for him. Dine in service: No complaints. Great service, great food. Call in service: One star. The first time I called in an order and was told it would be ready in 30 minutes. When my wife arrives, several people are inside and my wife finds out that someone hasn't placed the orders, including ours. This prompted another 40 minute wait for our wings. When she got them home, the order was wrong (like below). Our fault for not checking in the restaurant. On two other occasions I have orders all "flats" and extra crispy and both times they were neither. I cannot explains the difference in the to go and dine experience, but I cannot recommend to go services here until something changes. If you do order it to go, check it before you leave! My husband and I are not from Kentucky. We have been disappointed that our Pizza options are limited to Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, and Little Caesars (ick!). This past month we've been stranded in Somerset - a nice town but not the best place for people who eat a plant based diet. Fortunately we found the Mellow Mushroom - great atmosphere, wonderful service for the most part, and the best pizza we've had in years. They don't flinch when you design a pizza without cheese, and the have plenty of plant-based toppings including tempeh and tofu. Their salads are always large and fresh (sans cheese), they'll make the bruschetta without cheese, but my favorite is the tempeh hoagie (ask for no cheese or mayo). Stopped by here the other day while visiting from California. I guess the back room isn't usually open during the week but they made an exception. My baby cousin is autistic and loud noises can be a trigger for him. "Red" was our server. She was on top of things. Answered all of our questions and went out of her way to make sure we were being checked on. Even with us being in the back room and out of her eye site and away from her normal section we never felt like we were being ignored. This was our first time at this particular Mellow Mushroom and only our third time eating at the chain period. The other two times before today were both at the Gatlinburg location. The pizza we got on those occasions were probably the best I ever ate. The pizza in Somerset wasn't quite as good but it was close. I think the only thing I can say is the crust was slightly too tough (the crust in Gatlinburg was tougher than I am used to but pleasantly so). We got the hummus appetizer and a small Mauie Wowie. The hummus was good but nothing special. I read reviews saying the service was super slow and the pizza took forever to show up. That wasn't our experience. We were seated immediately, and our order was taken for drinks and food as quickly as could be expected. Our waters showed up and then the appetizer. Pizza not long after. One major complaint was our waitress kinda disappeared at one point and our glasses went unfilled for longer than I really like and I am not too picky. The lady who brought the pizza out actually noticed our empty glasses and brought us water ... strangely enough the bartender had also noticed (we were sitting near the bar) and they both arrived with refills at the same time. I don't know any of their names. People in these reviews complaining about the price ... just stop it. You are getting better and bigger pizza here than a random crappy Papa John's pizza. read more

My go to place for a restaurant that is consistent.. The food is always just as described and the service has never disappointed me. In a city where your choices are VERY limited, I always choose Mellow Mushroom. The salads and Pizzas are as good as anywhere in the area. Been to several Mellow Mushrooms. This one stands out. Went with a coworker for lunch and the service was excellent. The first thing I noticed was how clean and nice this location was compared to several I've been to. The server came and took our appetizer order and explained how the pizzas are made. At the same time she explained that since the pizzas are stone cooked it would take around 25-30 minutes. We started with the stuffed portobello mushroom. This was excellent. It was cooked perfectly and had a lot of flavor. One of my favorite parts was that they allow you to split the pizza. Being with someone else we both decided on different pizzas and did a split with the gourmet white and the Kosmic Karma. We ended up deciding to share and both were excellent. My nod goes to the gourmet white which is now one of my favorite pizzas. Needless to say we both had a good experience and will be back again! read more

Whoa, what a greeting from Pam! She is the perfect person to have up front, such a radiant, warm, and welcoming personality! Great listener and super helpful. Apparently she's been there since the opening of this Mellow Mushroom and knows all there is to know and more . There is a lot to know as this is a grand and extensive menu with loads of choices from apps, to mains, to sides, and even desserts and drinks. We placed a "to go" order, she told us it would be 30 minutes, and offered us soft drinks while we wait. We came back in about 20 so I had the time to look around: they have a large bar area and several large separate areas to eat...they seem to be on top of Covid restrictions; social distancing and requiring masks when not eating. Also, there is abundance of staff to manage nicely. Our food was ready BEFORE the estimated 30 minutes. Pam kindly went through my order with me to confirm all was as expected: a small salad (nice), a stuffed portobello mushroom (outstanding), a small pizza for my husband-possibly a kosmic Karma (?)- which was excellent, and mine...which was sort of like a Hawaiian but subbing tempeh for meat as I don't eat meat-fantastic! So, the taste of the crust and the ingredients would be enough to earn 5 stars, but, the fact you can sun tempeh or tofu earns another 5. Btw, the crust is vegan. The size of the pizzas earns it another 5 stars. So we're up to about 100 stars when one considers all of this places strengths! And...I neglected to mention the ginormous, delicious cookies we got for dessert! read more

The entire experience depends on the day. My wife and I are regulars here and always go at the same time on the same day. Once you get past the pajama wearing host, that obviously has no desire to assist you, always request Michelle as your waitress. She will learn you and she will 100% keep you coming back. With Michelle, your drinks will not go empty and your food will come hot. Not to mention the personal touch she gives you when she learns your name, your order, and basically becomes a friend. On occasions that Michelle was not available, service was lacking. In fact, being sat at a dirty table and not even being spoken to for 10 minutes gave us the go ahead to walk out and go somewhere else. On other occasions, without Michelle, empty glasses and cold food insisted on minimal tip. Mellow is a great place to eat and I would leave 5 stars, but the right manager, the right hostess and the right waitress doesn't always happen. Go. Ask for Michelle, get a Mghty Meaty pizza and your experience will be wonderful. PS. Michelle is not family and I can't say I know her outside of Mellow, but since she became our waitress, she has become our friend. read more
