I've eaten at Mellow Mushroom locations in SC, but was nearby on a trip so HAD to stop here because I think their pizza and bread knots are fabulous. Our waitress acted like she had better things to do than serve us, and then when the pizza came BEFORE our bread knots, she didn't apologize or even act like she cared. About 15 minutes later when we were done with the pizza she showed up with the knots and gave us an excuse that the kitchen forgot to make them (and they looked burned), but again, showed no real interest in trying to make things right with us. I received the best service on yesterday when I visited this Mellow Mushroom. The manager made it a point to visit the tables to make sure all the customers were satisfied, once he took off his gloves from being in the kitchen. That's awesomeness!!! I've experienced Mellow Mushroom pizzas as a catered-for-work thing (and I'd enjoyed the variety they'd offered), but this is the first time I'm actually dining in the restaurant proper. One of my friends had a hankering for pizza, so I'd suggested this location -- knowing its quality and vegetarian-friendliness -- and made my way over. It's more nondescript than some of the other stand-alone buildings I've known of in Buckhead, Grayson, and Briarcliff (my friend even said he'd not known this place existed), but in TARDIS-like fashion, it does very much look bigger on the inside. Once inside, the host greeted me, and invited me to find the table my friend had taken. When there, probably *the friendliest server ever* attended us. She knows multitasking and customer service, and she alone pushes the star rating to 5. I'd ended up getting the house calzone, which was absolutely delicious and filling, and while it was semi-disappointing they didn't have hot beverages available tonight, the lemonade I'd ordered did go well with it and I have no complaints. Needed my vitamin C anyway! My friend ordered a 10-inch pizza, the smallest of the three sizes they make to order, along with a house salad (which our server graciously brought onions and mozzarella cheese to add on after-the-fact). She seriously knows her stuff too, down to the consistency of the salad dressings! If you want a family-friendly, reasonably quiet, dinner outing with a friend, a Sunday evening at this location is *definitely* the way to go. read more

This is the closest Mellow Mushroom to us so we'll hit this spot up every now and again. For a MM, it's just OK.. The place is a little small and the restaurant is arranged funny with a small bar on your right and some bench seating on your left. The whole space feels really cramped and does not flow well, for me anyway. To go with the wonky layout, the parking lot is skewed and confusing as hell. Add a touch of 'busy' into that mix and finding a parking spot can be a chore. The food is excellent, always is. The only differences that can really be made between this location and the others have to be the restaurant itself and the people. The staff is great here, they really do a wonderful job. They do seem a little slow here but I'm willing to be that is the kitchen and not the wait-staff. We usually are here during peak hours so I'm sure that has something to do with it but sometimes it feels like there is one person handling 10 tables and we had to wait quite a bit for drink refills. So, all in all not bad but just average for MM. read more

I planned to go here with my friend and when I parked pulled up the Yelp reviews. I was a lol nervous about the two star recent ratings, but despite the slow service everyone mentioned I saw no other negative things. My experience was great actually! We sat at the bar and the bartender was amazing. Ironically it was Tuesday so it was trivia night as well. We participated and it was fun, but we did not win anything special. Just something to do. Now for the food, the pizza was very good-crust and all. We got the mighty meat pizza. The cheese bread was out of this world and so were the wings. I knew about Mellow wings from my last visit in another state. These wings were up to par. I ordered 5 jerk wings and the my friend ate 4. They've remodeled, it feels brighter and more open, but still has the charming 70s stoner vibe. Dandy salads, we got a Caesar and it had the real deal ribbons of parmesan, and good crunchy Romaine. Craft beers, decent selection, beer-knowledgeable servers. Pizzas, salads and sandwiches, very good. Rich in vegetarian choices, healthy stuff. Love the Righteous Portobello Reuben, and the Tempeh Hoagie. You can pick up a pizza, or sit down and get good, friendly service. In my opinion, they are better at service than the one near Whole Foods on LaVista. I like both places but have at times grown a long white beard waiting for food at the Whole Foods one. read more

First off, I absolutely love the fare at Mellow Mushroom. The pizza dough, and crust especially. The pretzel twists. The notion that one salad dressing is enough. And this location has some of the best decor of any of them. That said, the service here can be iffy. They get a little cranky when you bring your kids here sometimes. They like to put the groups with loud kids in the "outer circle" area, kind of a glassed-in sidewalk. So why did I rate the 5 stars? Because the meal last night was just perfect. Friendly and efficient waiter. Entertaining, even. Perfectly cooked pie (sometimes I've had undercooked pies when the place was busy.) A wide selection of beer (although I had trouble finding one I liked. Too many IPAs). Anyway, congratulations on a job well done this weekend. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

Not sure why Yelp shows all businesses as "Closed" when they are very much open. If a business is closed, shouldn't you just remove it from your Yelp site???? Oh well, this location is open for business and I enjoyed my last meal here. The first time I visited, I had the calzone. I'm a vegetarian and i ordered carry out and got home to find steak in my calzone. I reluctantly returned for lunch with a friend and now I'm hooked. I ordered a salad and a slice and that slice did not disappoint. I will definitely add Mellow Mushroom to my list of go to lunch places. Here's to second chances. I enjoy the food at this location, but the service is hit or miss. I have gone and had great waiter service and I have gone and had no service. Yesterday it was a miss. But the manager, Joe, made up for it when I told him about the lack of service. He sent over his best waitress and took care of the meal. I'm looking forward to eating there again. Been here about 3 times in the last month or so. Twice to-go and once to dine in. Seems like all the recent reviews are railing on the service. I'd like to say my experiences ran contrary to the crowd... But they didn't. Service was consistently lackluster. My to-go orders were handled, but just that. Not particularly friendly. When I ate in the pizza took quite a while despite the restaurant not being overly busy, our server looked and acted like she didn't want to be there (not a single smile), and she also forgot about our table somehow when we were trying to pay so my friend and I sat with an empty table waiting for her to come back for quite a while. Luckily, I love my friend, so spending a few more minutes at a table joking about how the server forgot about us isn't the worst use of time. Sadly, I do not love the service here. read more

Back in my college town, Clemson, SC, there was a Mellow Mushroom right next to campus. When I saw the Mellow Mushroom here, I thought of all the great experiences I had back in Clemson, so I gave this one a shot. I ordered some sort of meat lover's pizza (can't quite remember its name exactly). It was great. However, the sweet tea I had is another story (caution to other sweet tea lover's, hopefully my batch of tea was a one time, unusual case). The night I was there, it seemed a bit cramped inside. My coworker and I ordered the red skinned potato pizza and we both felt like it was good but not great. If you had doubled the amount of potatoes on the pizza then it would have been amazing. We just thought that by ordering a potato pizza we would get more than one small slice of potato on each piece. I looked up this place on yelp and came here for the first time! Let me tell you Justin checked up on me to make sure I was okay! I knew exactly who the boss was after that! Most places you wouldnt even see the boss! hathey are ON IT here! I will come here more often and recommend this place to my friends and employees! I ordered a curbside pickup and ordered a Greek salad with no cheese and a pizza with no cheese. I also emphasized that I wanted everything without cheese because I am allergic. I picked up the order and when I got home both the salad and the pizza had cheese on it. I called to let the restaurant know about my situation just to be careful next time especially people with allergies. The manager told me to text him my address so that he could send me a gift card for my troubles, two weeks after I never received a gift card. I Texted him again and he said he would send one the next day. This was almost a month ago. Never got a gift card in the mail. Poor management in my eyes. read more

If I could give zero stars I would!!! This was the worst lunch experience EVER!!! Subpar service at best...from the time we entered this place is in disarray. So the sign up front says they have $5 drink special, after asking 4 people NO ONE HAS A FUCKING CLUE what is in the speciality drink...so the waitress gets a guy from the back who says he is unable to locate the bartender but rattles off ingredients, but we declined. He then offered an alternative which was the RB Margarita. So I decided to order the RB Margarita...well then the waitress comes back to say that I can't get a margarita because the sour mix is not ready!! WTF! So my friend orders a Cabernet, the waitress comes back to ask will that be white or red? Since when is there a white Cabernet? So we say we have never heard of such, she says would you like to taste it, we say sure...but guess what the bartender tells her oh, we don't have anymore!!! Go figure! That's more than likely because it doesn't exist! Anyhow we order our food and they bring her wine and me WATER! So 40 mins pass...no pizza... no acknowledgement...no we are working on it... no thank you for waiting...as a matter of fact nothing at all...then 45 mins later she comes with the pizza. So she drops them off and ask is everything ok with your food. So we said yes the food is fine but what took so long and she said and I quote, "I DONT KNOW, YALL WERE THE ONLY TICKET WE HAD!" So we told her the wait time was unacceptable and to let the manager know, she turned around and yelled "CHRIS" never said sorry for the wait or anything. The manager came over trying to smooth things over and agreed to comp the meal but didn't follow thru with the process just left us sitting there. Eventually my friend stood up and the waitress said are you ready for your check, she said that the manager said that he was going to comp the meal, the waitress said well he didn't do it yet. Then she brought the check with an attitude and said well he did comp the pizza but you need to pay for your wine. She said that's fine and pulled out her card, the waitress took the dirty plates off the table and walked off, but left my friend with the receipt and card in hand. So now we have to walk up to the register and stand and wait and then ask to be checked out, the waitress walks by as if she doesn't see us standing there waiting and the manager comes to check us out then as the audacity to ask us to fill out a survey out our experience. Here's a survey for you...IT WILL BE A COLD DAY IN HELL BEFORE I EVER RETURN TO THIS LOCATION! Chris you need to get this team together, ask the bartender to learn her job and notify the team of what is in the drink specials, as well as have things prepared, ask the cook to pull up his pants because we would rather not see his white underwear while eating, do some skill practices around customer service, talk to your team about the time expectations as you explained them to me 20 mins for pizza ,10 mins for pretzels,5 mins for appetizers, etc., and maybe just maybe things will turn around for the better in this place!!!! read more

I'm very thankful that this location is open, but my experience was terrible. I ordered my food at 6pm to be ready for 7pm, but I drove to the wrong location. I called the correct location and arrived at 745, thinking surely my food will be ready. Well it is 815 and I am still waiting for my food. I'm not sure why they didn't make it for 7pm OR why they didn't make it when I called confirming I was coming. Second time here and second bad experience. Was here on. Sunday night at 6:30pm. Half the tables were empty, but they had no one to wait on them. Say at the bar, which was a bigger mistake. Looked like the bus boy behind the bar. He was waiting on the Bar, trying to bartend, handling the phone orders and dealing with to go orders. Manager was doing NOTHING!! Literally!! Food is just ok. Had a pizza and a calzone and not impressed with either. I can't imagine this store being around long based on my two last experiences. I've eaten at 3 different Mellow Mushroom locations in the Atlanta area. While they're all pretty friendly and the food generally the same, this one stands out. I walked in on a slow day and gave my order directly to the cook. While I waited, he came over to the bar and told me to have some tea or other beverage, even though I had not ordered a drink. I did and the sweet tea was really good. The pizza came out super fast and the cook brought it directly to me and opened the box to show me my pizza. He was nice enough to tell me Happy New Year too. This was the most perfect Kosmic Karma pizza ever!; not burnt on the bottom, all the toppings in the right amount and fresh. Absolutely perfect and yummy. The food is good. The health record score is an 87. . . Make your own judgement. The one thing that I absolutely HATE that will probably keep me from wanting to frequent is the one way parking lot. You have to go BEHIND the building to get out, AND IT IS ENTIRELY TOO NARROW!!!!! If you have a larger vehicle (suv/truck), I don't see how you'd be able to get out of there without damaging your car. It's really a poorly thought out design. They need to widen the narrowest part by at least 3 feet. read more

Received a birthday text offering me a free small cheese pizza. I received the text the day before my birthday which was a Monday and it said it was bailed for 7 days. Went to this location to redeem the offer and the code didn't work. The staff said I already redeemed it because it wasn't working. This is not the case. Feels like a bait and switch. You should not send out offers that you aren't going to honor. I have been going to this location when it was a hole in the wall and was across the street from where it is now. Terrible management lost a customer over the amount of a small cheese pizza. I'm glad I didn't try to redeem the offer on my actual birthday because it would've been an even more terrible experience. read more
