I was wandering down the street looking for somewhere open to eat dinner when I saw a woman with a pizza box and she directed me to Mellow Mushroom. After my issues at the hotel, it just seemed that I was meant to go to Mellow Mushroom. I had never seen the Mellow Mushroom Downtown as it blended into the larger building. I was greeted when I arrived and seated in the bar area. I don't like high top seating but with the March Madness game on that meant I could watch the second half. My waitress was friendly and let me remove a topping from my pizza as I hate onions. I think she was the manager and doing many jobs at the same time. The white pizza wasn't bad. It was a good size and I couldn't finish it all. I had a pineapple drink that I enjoyed too. I will keep Mellow Mushroom in mind the next time I need a bite to eat in Wilmington. read more

We have been to this location a number of times and it each time either our order came out wrong or took a very long time. Well tonight we went again for my birthday. It was not busy at all. We had 6 people and wanted to sit at a table but the manager said we could not sit there because they could possibly get a large table. She specifically said there could be a table of 30 like they had last week. So adults had to crammed into a booth while the original open table and the majority of the place was empty. So if you want good service go to another MM or another pizza place all together. read more

If I could give this a-0 star I would. I normally do not write reviews, but I felt the need to let other people know. I have always loved Mellow Mushroom in the past This has been the absolute worst experience I have ever had in my entire life! I ordered a pizza to go. I was enjoying the second piece of pizza when I felt something crunchy. I pulled it out out of my mouth and there it was a fingernail.!!!! yes a fingernail!!! I didn't even make it to the bathroom without vomiting all over the floor! It is the grossest thing to have somebody's dirty fingernail in your mouth! I was furious! I called the restaurant and to talked to the manager. She actually questioned if I was telling the truth. She said that it was impossible because they wear gloves. I said to her... well somebody wasn't wearing their gloves because this is a fingernail in my pizza and I'm not making this up. Then she admitted that it could be possible because they bring their dough in and don't make it there in the restaurant I asked her if she wanted to see the photo and she said yes. I sent the photo to her, no apology. The next day I was check my emails and saw that I received a refund on my card. That was it! To this day, I cannot eat pizza that somebody had their dirty fingers through the dough. Just the thought of it makes me sick! read more

I've been to other Mellow Mushroom locations but this one is the absolute best! We were running late for a show and they were super accommodating and speedy with our orders. We ordered half and half Pacific Rim and Merry Prankster and OMG! So good!! I wish I could have taken a picture of the pizza but it was too good to not devour immediately. I was also thoroughly impressed with the bruschetta. We see shows often at the Wilson center and I think we will make it a tradition to come eat here before every show. Checked out this new location of Mellow Mushroom in downtown Wilmington. It's located across the riverwalk and a little past Tugboat Tony's Bagel Cafe. There is street parking available but not as much as there is construction going on by it. There is dine-in available with plenty of seating inside as well as outdoor seating. Decor is casual with some artsy flair. On their Facebook, they advertise 10% off on pickup orders either online or in person on Tuesdays. The code they posted doesn't work so it would be best to call your order in through the phone or in person to get the discount. I was warmly greeted after I walked in through the front door. I had ordered to-go pretzel bites "munchie' ($7.95), a small cheese pizza ($8.99), and a Sausagefest calzone ($11.99). The waitress opened up each to-go box to show me the food, making sure my order was correct. The pretzel bites were small ball-shaped dough covered in grated parmesan cheese and served with a thick beer cheese sauce. The dough was bland and dense. Tasted better with the cheese sauce, which was okay tasting itself. Pretzel bites are supposed to be tossed in garlic butter, but could've fooled me. Skip this munchie. The cheese pizza was 9 to 10 inches in diameter, cut in four slices. It had plenty of cheese, including some grated parmesan cheese. The dough was alright tasting. I liked that the crust was soft and chewy. Dough options are usually a mellow mushroom thin crust or a regular crust. I didn't specify which one I wanted so I'm assuming I got the mellow crust. The pizza sauce was standard. The Sausagefest calzone was okay. The dough was the same as the pizza dough. There was plenty of meat and cheese. It could feed 2 people of my size. It was served with marinara sauce. I like that their menu has a variety for different audiences, including gluten-free crust and vegan meats. Come here if you're looking for average pizza. read more

I love that they added a Mellow Mushroom, right downtown near the riverwalk! This location is great but also the staff and service has always been amazing. When we arrived on a weekend night, we were sat pretty quickly, and had a booth for our little family of three. Our server was quick to bring us our beers and take our orders, and she also was really nice and chatted with our toddler. For our food, we got some of their wings which are amazing, a Caesar salad (which is also something I always get when I come here), a cheese pizza for the little one, a white pizza, and the Tie Dye pizza. The cheese pizza was for our little one, because if you order a kids pizza, it comes on flat bread and she is not about that life. The white pizza was full of garlic-y goodness, and the tie dye is my husbands favorite. Overall they were very attentive, the food was good, and our experience was lovely! read more

I was greeted with a smile and such great energy by Kenzie. Although I have had the pizza before and it was delicious, on this day I was a door dasher. She went above and beyond to help me and was just the sweetest! She did not have to be as kind as she was and it really made my day. This is my happy place - interesting pizzas, good beers, on the riverfront. Staff are always polite and pleasant. Good 70's vibe in this setting and cool art. They happily split a small pizza to meet two different pizza preferences. Right now my favorite is Thai Dye with curried chicken. read more

Mellow mushroom is a short walk from the riverfront in Wilmington but has a beautiful patio that is a great place to while away or Friday afternoon. We were passing the time until we could go to dinner on a really long travel day, and we sat and we had the most delectable cocktail ever. It is featured in the menu Called sunset in paradise. Was it ever! I drank two and my friend switched over to the same drink after tasting mine. This is a real treat. I photographed the menu just so that I could come home and try to re-concoct this thing- Wish me luck! To stave off the hangries, we enjoyed a small thin crust mushroom pizza that was perfect. Stopped in on a quiet Sunday afternoon when a lot of local spots were shut down. The mushroom was open for Biz, and having visited several locations and we had never tried this one. First off I was impressed by the local eastern Carolina brews on tap. I was hooked on Wilmington Tropical Lightning west coast IPA and never looked back. For pizza this time we had a Pacific Rim, and it did not disappoint. Very competent and well executed pie. Perfectly cooked with a great balance of toppings. My take is this is a very good expression of the brand and a safe bet for pizza in the river walk district. Server was attentive and accommodating to our requests. Highly recommended read more

I hate to leave a bad review, this one is not on the food but the service.. I went for a walk with my dog, & decided to get a to go order. First actually had to find someone, I asked if I could order a to go.. rolling eyes is the look I received. So they finally said yes, I ordered a hoagie, and cookie, and asked for water with a lemon. The server came out again, looked at me like I was a martian with no money, asked for payment, again I asked for a glass water w/lemon.. They brought out my receipt with water,no lemon , so I asked again and the server brought out a slice of lemon with her hand and put it on top of my water beyond Gross... When I finally received my hoagie ( I was the only customer at the time) I did not get a bag to carry my dinner nor did I get my bag of chips that come with the hoagie.. The hoagie was good & the cookie yum ... But I will not be returning because of the hygiene issue & if they didn't want to work then they should of gone home... The Wrightsville Beach location is phenomenal. I have eaten there plenty of times and have enjoyed it and the service was fantastic. Maybe they should send the employees downtown so they can show how to treat people and what not to do like giving somebody lemon with only their hand instead of putting it in a little container... oh soooo gross I'm sorry. read more

We ordered a small half and half pizza from this Mellow Mushroom location while on vacation. We did half Great White and half Holy Shitake (my fave!). It was excellent! The crust was perfect, the cheese was ooey gooey, and all the ingredients were sublime. We highly recommend this place, and we will definitely be back when in Wilmington. read more

Our waiter was very patient and so nice! The music, decor, and vibe was just so cool! And the food? I have never seen my husband light up about a pizza before like that! The pizza here is pretty good. The staff was very friendly. There used to be one of these in Maryland and we ate at that one but were not particularly impressed. The food at this one was substantially better. Pizza had a bit of a chewy texture. The whole downtown area is all torn up (summer 2022) so parking may be an issue. Ate here on a quiet weekday night a few hours before close. My family came from the midwest to visit so I proudly showed them MM (which we have back in Charlotte too). We were not disappointed. My stepdad is picky with pizza and he loved his pepperoni and mushroom original crust pie. I tried the gluetin free crust which was suprizingly edible. The rest of our party loved their pies. The atmosphere was very peaceful with dimmed lighting and music playing. The waitress was friendly and everything was nice. No issues. We'll be back next time in town. read more

Cool spot. Like all other mellow mushrooms I've been to there's a lot of fun stuff around the restaurant to look at. Great outdoor area. The food is delicious. The veggie calzone (no mushrooms) is my go to. Colleen is the best bartender! She took care of me probably 2 months ago and I was in again today and she remembered my mushroom allergy. My office ordered take today, and it was disgusting. The picture of the chicken I got with the Cobb Salad looks like scraps they picked up off the floor, this photo makes it look better than it was. The salad comes with bacon bits and they gave me strips of bacon on the side?? Absolute fail! Please ask your employees to make the food like they are going to eat it. read more

Had one of the best dinning experiences I've ever had here. Me and my friends decided to stop here after a day at the beach and I'm so glad we did. It wasn't busy at all when we went in so our server was very attentive to us. Our appetizers came and fast and tasted great! We all enjoyed our pizza's and our server who was also the bartender brought us special sauces to try with our pizzas. My favorite was the beer cheese.
