This Salon was so rude. I walked in and they ignored me for 10 minutes, I politely waited to them to notice me and when they did they said "No time today". I arrived at 11:14am. For the first time since co-vid, I went to Melody Nails for a mani/pedi yesterday. The shop was 100% compliant with regulatory mandates. As I entered, my temperature was taken, Nancy was masked and gloved. I completed the requested forms re: lack of symptoms, phone contact, etc. the shop was outfitted with plexiglass. The client following me was provided a chair outside. I felt 100% safe! Every precaution is being taken. read more

Nancy is wonderful! I love the shellac manicure! I love the pedicure! When I worked retail Nancy really took care of my callused feet, and the shellac held up nicely. The shape of my nails is always just right, and she really takes care of my cuticles. My mom, myself, my grandmother, (and even my grandfather a few times) have enjoyed Nancy's services for at least 4 years now. She does a really good job! The massage chair is also wonderful. For great value and a long lasting mani/pedi, go here. I have been going to Melody for over a year on the recommendation of one of La Jolla's great "insiders". My friend always seems to know the best deal...whether for a vet, a hairdresser or a manicurist. She recommended this salon. First the negatives. It is not an immaculate, luxury/pampering spot. Then the neutrals. It is located between and alley and the back end of a restaurant. That said, it is on a courtyard and is airy and pleasant. Street parking for one hour outside. Somewhat shabby chairs and decor. Then the positives. Nancy and her sister are endeavoring to bring solid quality to La Jolla at reasonable prices. As of April 2009, a mani/pedi of 1.5 hours costs $25. They are sweet, knowledgeable and these pedis LAST! (Can't speak to the manis...today's was my first.) The salon gets a cross section clientele. Plenty of sparklers on ring fingers here, but most patrons appreciate a deal. Tip well. They deserve it. PS. I just got a call from them. Seems I left my checkbook there while I was waving my fingers in the air and rushing out to avoid a parking ticket (La Jolla meter peeps have no mercy). Nancy tracked me down and is keeping my checkbook secure until I can retrieve it. This gets my loyalty. read more

Thank you Yelpers! If it wasn't for Yelp I never would have found this gem of a place. Was in desperate need of a mani/pedi and didn't want to pay an arm and a leg to get one. I called in the morning on a Friday to make an appointment and they were able to get me in right away. This is definitely my kind of nail salon. Nice and simple. No extra frills like expensive massage chairs or decorations that jack up the price. Just a high quality mani/pedi from expericenced technicians using quality products. I came with my girlfriends just today because we saw raves about it on Yelp. I called in around 4:05PM and found out it was still open. The shop is located in the back of Aloha Sushi through its courtyard, which makes it kind of a "Narnia" for those curious enough or those who Yelp. The shop was small, but very clean and ambient. Since it was the first time my friends were getting a mani, they were not sure which ones to get, and she (never gave us her name, but apparently her sister owns the shop) was very kind and patient to take us through the choices of getting a manicure. Two of us got french manicures, and the other one got purple polish. Total was less than $50 ($15 for french manicure, and $12 for a normal manicure). My nails feel and look so much better. She was very detailed and perfect. We finished at 6. Later I found out that it was supposed to close at 4PM, and she stayed just for the three of us... I am truly grateful. read more

It's a magical place, and getting to it is just the beginning. It's small, secluded, restful and they do an excellent job. None of that 1-2-3 down the line mani-pedi. The ladies there treat each person and their nails individually, and there isn't a feeling of being rushed. Nothing plastic feeling about Melody. If only parking were easier in that part of LaJolla. Helpful hint - don't park on Fay Ave...it is only one hour parking. Walk a block and save yourself a ticket..all the rest of the parking in that area is 2 hourss. read more

The ladies who work here are very friendly and do a great job. I had a pedicure done, and she cleaned up my feet very well without hurting me or making me feel like I had bad feet (I only get pedicures about 2-3 times a year). They are also very well priced ($17 for pedicure). I guess the only thing I would say is that I wish their color selection was larger although it's not bad as it is. I can tell you I have been using melody nails for a long time, have never written a review on yelp, but felt it necessary after seeing the one star given by a client. this salon is one of the best on the LJ area, I have never been disappointed in the service, care or price. The manicurists are extremely good at what they do, are very professional, courteous and willing to help with whatever question you might have. This is a very small salon, only two girls working. They don't have massage chairs, so that was a disappointment for me. You get what you pay for...$17 for a pedi that is done out of a plastic bucket, two minute weak massage and she cut my toe. $25 for a gel mani which included no massage or lotion on my hands and the polish was not put to my cuticle, which I'm sure is their way to get people to come more often. If your only criteria is the price then this is your place. read more

Finally, after 3 months in isolation, once the state of California opened nail salons, I set up an appointment at Melody Nails (for a manicure and a pedicure), where I have been going for the last 20 years. I was given strict details on which door to use entering, and what safeguards I needed to follow. (mask, no food or drink) Had my temperature checked Before I could check in (actually sign in), I had my temperature checked, and needed to use alcohol gel on my hands. The sanitation was impeccable: everything had been sprayed down, manicure instruments disinfected, had a very sturdy hanging acrylic partition sneeze guard all around me for my spa pedicure, and another very sturdy portable sneeze guard with safety dividers for my manicure. It was lovely to be able to be pampered again, and rest and relax with no fear or anxiety. Definitely recommend Melody Nails and give it a 5 star rating! read more

I've only trusted Trish for my Brazilian waxes since moving to San Diego 8 years ago. I've tried others and they just don't compare. Let's face it....getting waxed is not fun and certainly uncomfortable. But Trish will make you feel at ease right away and is quick but gentle. She seriously is the best!!! read more

As I mentioned in my last review, which was removed by Yelp (not appreciated), I followed Melody Nails all the way from Chula Vista. I make it a point to get my mani and pedi each month and refuse to go anywhere else. My nails come out perfect everytime and the service is great! I recommend this to everyone and believe me I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my nails and so are the people that work at Melody Nails! Best manicure/pedicure. Ever! Been going there for years and will never change to anyone else. Love the service and always come out looking great and feeling wonderful. It is a small space and not as fancy as the newer places, but is is FAR better, with MUCH better service. Be aware that parking is bad, so be prepared to get there earlier than your appointment time. And for crying out loud, if you are having a mani/pedi make sure you find a 2-hour parking. One hour will not do, and the parking cops in La Jolla are always around and are quick to issue tickets.
