Clandestina Cocina opened in the vendor space closest to the wall. Maybe YoYo Treat was once here…read more Stall has minor decor. E14th Eatery has more. Soft drums & vocal music in background. Single associate on duty, very helpful & courteous. Ordered, pd. Food ready in 10ish minutes. Offerings (Cuban): pan con (bread with), Para Picar (snacks), postres (desserts), bowls, beibidas(drinks) Bites: pan con lechon (15) -moist semi-juicy lechon pieces mixed with lettuce, tomato slices. Topped with freshly deep fried toothpick sized crunchy fries. -grilled buns too small to contain lechon et. al. resulting in some contents falling out. -pan con lechon had no spreads nor condiments, leaving a dryish taste. Another Cuban eatery prepped their Lechon the same. Sips: Mango limeade (5) -refreshing it was. Had a slushy quality. Obviously Made in house. Had a little ice, naturally slightly sweet? If not, very little sugar added. 4.5 stars Worthy! *3 parking spaces + 1 handicap space in rear. Some street parking.

The lechon bowl breaks down that meat over rice, beans, plantains and more. Also got her amazing guava pastry, her flan and her home made guava ice cream as a topper that kicks it up a notch. Current popup is in a shared market space with two other small foodie business, so check those out too. https://maps.app.goo.gl/29XJX4wE3LBvkS3f9?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy Parking, sucks with busy street parking, but there is a community teen center 1 block south that has good amount of parking. Again, 1 person, very slow and intimate with asking chef about each item and you know it will be good. No rushing the good stuff. Yes, this is a must go back!

I was really excited to try this out, it's a local business run by a mother in her apartment. I…read moreordered through the website and arranged a pickup day/time. The owner was very kind and the food came out nice and hot. The plate consists of 2 chicken drum sticks, fried plantains, and a straight mountain of rice. The flavor of the chicken was great but it was slightly on the dryer side. The rice was fluffy and had a great fragrance to it. The plantains were absolutely delicious and probably the best part of the dish. My family and I really enjoyed the meal overall - I loved how it was local with unique flavors and had generous portions. I only wish it came with some kind of vegetables, the website lists stewed spinach but that was not an available option when ordering. Support your local businesses and try out something new!

You pick up from the house. Nice lady running the whole business…read more We ordered the chicken takeout dish from Jollofxtra, which also came with plantains. The food smelled really nice when we got it. The rice reminded me of Spanish pilaf rice but with a slightly different flavor that I can't quite describe--definitely unique. The plantains were good and the chicken was tender. My cousin picked up the food for us and it seemed to be ready on time. For the portion size and price, I felt it was a good value overall.

Looks like there's only a little bit of rice, but the rice covers the whole plate underneath.

We've walked by this spot many times and decided to finally try it on a recent Friday morning. We…read moregot an "early" start because we've heard this place fills up and were able to get our choice of outdoor tables at about 9 am. We brought our dog, who was welcome outside, but keep in mind that if you have a large dog or one who likes to sniff everyone in the surrounding area, you might want to leave them at home as it's close quarters there. Coffee was delicious and they kept the refills coming. We ordered the Capitola Chaos after seeing many positive reviews, and The Avenue (eggs scrambled with feta, artichoke, and tomato). The eggs came with hashbrowns - super good - and toast. Portions were really big! Everything was tasty. The staff was friendly and attentive. Check this place out for brunch!

Before heading home…read morewe decided to eat breakfast at a local cafe in Capitola about 10-15 minutes away from the campgrounds. We arrived at Avenue Cafe on a Sunday morning for breakfast recently. The cafe is located in a nice area down the street from Capitola Beach in downtown Capitola. Paid parking is accessible along the streets and the parking lot across the street. Avenue Cafe is a small, family friendly, local neighborhood cafe. There is a mom and pops vibe to it. The cafe space looks like it was formally a house. They did a great job transforming the space into a nice cozy cafe. The outdoor patio looks inviting. We ordered a mimosa, coffee, country fried steak with sunny side up eggs, smoked salmon avocado eggs Benedict, and an eggs combo with pancakes & bacon. Everything was delicious. The breakfast definitely hit the spot after a long weekend camping. My country fried steak was scrumptious with every bite. The gravy was hearty. The fried potatoes were crispy and tasty. Our son said his pancakes combo was yummy. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Avenue Cafe. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The bustling local neighborhood environment was wonderful. The price point was fair. We hope to be back to try other food items on the menu.
