For small plates us two tried the spicy tuna crispy rice along with the crabcake with avocado and caviar. The spicy tuna crispy rice was delicious in my opinion. The crabcake was a three out of five for me. For my main mail, I tried the creamy Cajun pasta. I am a BIG person, and this was actually pretty decent. It wasn't super creamy, the sausage was really good. This was a bit ago so my mind is blanking on what else everyone ordered but I do remember that we were all very satisfied. Second, the inside. VERY beautiful and slow (in a good way). Guy singing was very nice. Service was decent. Very loud inside so you have to speak up and really listen. I believe food portions could be just a BIT bigger. 5/5 experience!!!! My boyfriend and I had a blast here yesterday evening. We had come here for their Daycare escape room, which was perfect for a group of 2. We decided to come back later to check out their bar/restaurant which serves both food and alcohol. The ambience and decor are amazing. There aren't that many tables, so the setting is very intimate. There was a Halloween-themed three-person show at night; I thought the performers/singers were really great and fun. On the first floor, the escape rooms were still going on in the evening, so you can watch the escape room staff interact with the players. The escape room front desk staff were all dressed up in scary outfits and makeup and were all acting in character. You might even see some of the staff scaring the players, which is entertaining. I agree with other reviewers that the food was good but nothing to write home about. We ordered the shrimp limona linguine, ossobuco di Agnello, and focaccia as a side. The focaccia bread was really good; it was fresh, warm, and toasted; it came as 4 pieces. The shrimp limona linguine was suuuuper lemon-y and tart. I like lemons, but even then, it was a bit much. The shrimps were done well. The ossobuco lamb was a huge portion with lots of meat on the bone. Overall, the food was good but the entrees came out lukewarm which was disappointing. I didn't have any problems with the service. All our food came out in a timely manner, and nothing was forgotten Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and would definitely come back. read more

As someone who loves exploring L.A. nightlife and dining, I really wanted Room 13 to impress -- but unfortunately, the experience fell short of the premium price point. We came for one of their shows, which required a $25 cover, and while the performance was fine, it didn't quite live up to the cost. What surprised us even more was the $50 food minimum per person, making the night significantly more expensive than expected. With those prices, the food should have been memorable -- just not in the way it was. The cocktails were solid, nicely balanced, and honestly the highlight of the evening. However, the food is where things really slipped. My risotto arrived crunchy, and I ended up sending it back -- something I never do, especially at a place with this kind of pricing and atmosphere. My friend's pasta was extremely citrus-heavy, overpowering any other flavors, and the chicken in their dish was uncomfortably dry to the bone. The ambiance is cool and the concept has potential, but when you're spending that much just to walk in the door, you expect the food to meet that level. My partner and I visited Room Number 13 located inside Escape Hotel on October 3rd for the magic show, and it was truly an unforgettable night! From the moment we stepped inside, the 1920s ambiance swept us away -- a perfect blend of romance and mystery, with Frank Sinatra's smooth voice drifting through the air like a spell. I ordered the Lychee Express, which was beautifully balanced and refreshing, while my partner went classic with an Old Fashioned -- perfectly mixed and rich in flavor. For dinner, I had the Shrimp Scampi (absolutely delicious!) and my partner went with the Burger, which was equally impressive. I think my favorite thing we ordered was the Italian style meatballs $18 made with beef, bison and lamb. Had a bit of the gamey lamb taste but decent. Service was ok as well. We had to remind our waiter about water and utensils a couple of times, however. Oh and BTW, 20% is AUTOMATICALLY added to your bill that they don't tell you in the beginning, so that seems to be a new trend. Although this has nothing to do with Room Number 13 itself, it is part of the experience, I feel. Parking is off-site and we found one for $25, but had to walk about 1-2 blocks. Definitely not a kid friendly place (the Restaurant/lounge area) but the escape room might be good for teens. For my ADA friends, I'm sure there is an elevator somewhere in the building, but it'll be a tight squeeze trying to maneuver around the restaurant up top. Overall not bad. Since I live outside of LA and Hollywood it took me about 80 min to get here and same to get back. So I don't think I'd make the trek out again, but if you're in the area I'd give them a look! read more

For my birthday, my girlfriends treated me to the Grand Illusion Magic Show, and it was a fantastic experience! We attended the 9:30 pm show on a Friday night. The admission fee was $20 per person, along with a minimum consumption requirement. While the food at the venue wasn't anything extraordinary, the main event was the show itself! Without giving away any spoilers, I can promise you that there were incredible tricks and plenty of opportunities for audience participation. Please note: no pics or video recording of the acts. The venue itself was engaging, with a spooky haunted hotel theme, escape rooms, and the staff being fully immersed in the act. Just a heads up, though - there is a jump scare in one of the women's bathroom stalls, so be prepared for that! Overall, it was a memorable and exciting birthday celebration, and I highly recommend checking out the Grand Illusion Magic Show for a unique experience! This place is horrible. Avoid at all costs. The service is awful. They include the tip in your inflated bill so you will be ignored after they drop off your mediocre meal. Isaiah the waiter is rude and incapable. We had to walk to the bar just to get more water. Upon leaving, the host lied and said not to bother leaving a bad review because they were "closing the restaurant" but of course they are still open. I had been wanting to check this place out for a while. Finally I went with my husband after dinner, we didn't have tickets or a reservation so we were just winging it. Luckily we were accommodated without a problem, which was great especially for a Saturday night. Upon entering, you are immediately transported into a spooky hotel. There are staff at the front to guide you depending on if you are doing the magic show or the Escape hotel. We went upstairs for the Magic show, and we were waiting in a line on the stairs with a bunch of people that were all sort of confused on the entry process. It took a few minutes for the host to come greet everyone and so they lost some customers along the way. We were the patient ones and were seated at an intimate table amongst a couple of other couples who were dining. We were just there for cocktails and there was no pressure to spend a bunch of money from the staff (no entry fee either). The Magic show started shortly after and while it was not fancy, it was pretty impressive. We could not figure out the tricks, so we definitely got our magic fix. While this is not a luxurious magic show in Vegas, it is solid and worth checking out. The other guests there were having dinner, and I was able to look at some of the items that passed by, none of it looked very appetizing to me. When you first enter the hotel, you are greeted by a doorman/concierge that leads you to a stairway up the restaurant. The host immediately sat us for our 7:30 pm reservation for the Sinatra night. The singers is amazing, if only I could hear him better. The speakers were facing away from us and there was 3 table of ladies who should have been at a bar/strip club than a live show. They kept screaming and cheering at the singer, chatting so loudly, that I can barely hear the singer. (May I suggest ceiling speakers, so that at least even if the table beside you are loud, you can still hear the singer sing) the food was decent for its price. The wait staff, looked annoyed when I asked for more water, but I don't blame him since he was waiting to the 3 tables of ladies as well. We chatted with the people next to our table who were visiting fromTexas and echoed the same opinion. They were there for a quite nice evening to hear some Sinatra music live but barely heard anything since they were right beside the 3 tables of ladies. When I made the reservation, I specified that we are celebrating a birthday, but I had to even ask the wait staff if they do anything special for birthdays...I read from 1 review that the singer gave her shout out all night but I guess tonight was not one of the special night. Took my daughter for her 26th Bday. Very cool vibe. Show was great singers and dancers made it great. Service was not good. Waiter did not take our orders until we reminded him. Took one order and left the rest of us wondering if he'd come back. We waved him down and he took two more orders then later I had to wave him down again to take my order. He actually said.."Oh shit". Took my order and was gone. I was a waiter years ago, it was not crowded yes he seemed overwhelmed. He comes back with one meal, gives it to my sister and disappears again. For about 15 min. My sister wanted to wait for us...so her food got cold. My daughter and niece got their food. From a different server. I waited about 10 min more for mine. We had ordered drinks. No problem there. But I asked for iced tea. I asked for sweetener. Waiter said "we don't have sweetener." Lol! I then asked if they had a dessert menu. He says. No.... I took my Daughter, her best friend, and sister there to relax and enjoy some mellow music and food. I never relaxed. It felt like we were hurried out for the next show. So you get your meal late...and at different times. Gotta eat quick for the next show. Definitely not a great place to chill. My boyfriend found this place on IG. He booked two weeks in advance for 20 bucks each. Based on IG videos it looked like a good time. Food: We got a Caesar salad. It was quite big and good. I got the Cajun pasta. First off for 25$ the portion is ridiculous. They brought out a side salad-sized plate and the meat was Overcooked. Flavor good. The burger was nothing special. Drinks: I got the Paloma, it was good and strong. Performance: cocktails and tuxedos. I had so much hope. The dancers were cute, one having a little more skill than the other. The singers. Microphones were low you barely could hear. The song selections were not appropriate for the singers skill set. They all could sing but were singing songs that required a little bit of soul, in which none of them had (James brown, Stevie wonder and Aretha Franklin). Instrumentalist were the best part of the show, sax and piano. Service: they seated us 20 mins late, we showed up 30 mins early because we live in Riverside County. All we could do is sit in the lobby. We weren't allowed to go to the bar, waitresses good, food and drinks came out quick once there. They should do a few modifications. I was invited to a magic show by a friend on friday the 03/21/25 , but our evening was ruined by our extremely rude waitress, Maria. We had made a reservation and were looking forward to trying the street-style tacos before ordering a main course. However, when we asked Maria questions about the food preparation due to my friend's food allergy, she became angry and annoyed, rolling her eyes at us, she would dropping off the food she slammed the plates and stomping her way out .Her demeanor made us uncomfortable, and we decided not to order more food. When we asked for a manager, Maria claimed that one was not available that night. We later found out that her name was Maria from other staff members. I didn't expect much from room number 13 originally, but we just wanted to get together in a small group for dinner and some kind of burlesque style show. Usually these types of experiences are one or the other, good performance and average food or vise versa. Room number 13 was both! The entertainment was spectacular and they sang and danced very well! Kept us all entertained! The food was actually really good! For an appetizer I got the Ssamjang chicken tacos and they were nice and flavorful! For the entree I had the steak au poivre and it was cooked perfectly medium rare and the flavors were on point! The cocktail I had was the Hotel Nacional Especial which was Simple syrup, lemon juice, apricot brandy, pineapple juice and aged Rum! So good! There is a parking structure right next to the location and we paid a flat rate of $12 which was an awesome find! Things to keep in mind is that you are prepaid ahead of time which includes a cocktail under $20, and appetizer, and one entree! It includes gratuity as well! Anything in addition you order or cocktails over $20 you obviously pay there at the location. You are only given 1.5 hours from your reservation time, not the time you're seated so if you and or your other party is running late, keep that in mind and also have them tell you what they wish to drink and eat so you can order it when your order goes in since it has to be put in at the same time. It sucks but it makes sense since they're on a schedule and they have reservations that need to be honored. So no hanging out after dinner! I highly recommend this place! It feels a little bit like the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. The place is just gorgeous and really fun with the 20s vibe. We had a 10 o'clock reservation for four and we were allowed to add one more person. At $80 a person I think that's such a great deal for an appetizer, main, and a drink. My espresso martini was so delicious and so are the other cocktails. I got the rock shrimp tempura and it was overdone. My seafood risotto was good. Street parking (paid or if you're lucky, unpaid but a lil bit of a walk). Literally on WOF, it stands out being one of the only escape experiences and looks fancay! It's located within the Hollywood Hotel Escape room and is on the 2nd floor. I didn't see an elevator so I am not certain there is easy access. Reservations recommended esp on Fridays, Weekends and Latin performance Nights via OpenTable. Food and beverages are $$ (but priced because of location) and the overall feel is more like a bar than speakeasy but it's the experience you're going for. We got a couple of beverages and a salad to share, nothing to rave about and drinks were like one's at cheesecake factory. But the servers and performers make this place. They will put their hearts into making sure that everyone has a great time. Friday Saturday evenings have table side magic performances and night long live jazz, with hilarious emceeing.
