Very poor experience. No one came to take drink orders for 10 minutes, server said they didnt serve midori and ale but was clearly on the menu. Ordered chocolate malt, got a shake instead. Ready to order and no one came for another 10 or so minutes. The food came out fast, but found a clump of hair in the tuna salad melt and told the server who took the plate away. Brought the same plate back saying the kitchen said it was a piece of celery leaf from the tuna salad when it was literally a wad of hair....they took it off the plate for me. Sat with empty plates for another 10-15 minutes waiting for the check. Been to the Mels Diner in Bonita and had a WONDERFUL experience twice. Dont know if the owners or management is different between locations, but Naples Mels Diner is very neglected. read more

Simple food, not less than mediocre taste. I had a cup of the house-famous chicken noodle soup. It was good, but not my favorites. The soup was served with two packaged breadsticks. My entree consisted of small greek salad. Too many types of lettuce in a greek salad for me, and also loads of vegetables. It just didn't look or taste like a regular Greek salad. We went to Mel's a week ago and had the Surf & Turf. The ambiance was typical diner, which was fine. The service ranks an A+, with an attentive waitress. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. The lobster was extremely chewy, and sort of like chewing on a mildly lobster flavored rubber glove. The steak was ordered well and medium, and came out well and nearly raw. The nearly raw one was sent back and came back medium rare. I have been to 3 Mel's diners and this one doesn't have the cool vibe like the others, it's completely outdated inside. The food is very cheap and affordable. The menu is large and something for everyone. We had an older male server that wasn't very helpful we had to ask the manager for drink refills and our server acted like we were bothering his day. 5 people and the bill was 43.00 but skip this one and go to the nicer silver looking diner. read more

This was different than what I'm used to seeing from Naples, but it was pretty good! Mel's is a down-home kind of place. The menus may be a little sticky and the waitresses might lay on that false sugary sweetness a bit too thick, but the food is great! They have everything from meatloaf to corned beef sandwiches to fresh salmon. I ordered the fish sandwich (fried). It was not under the "open-face" part of the menu, yet it came that way (which I found disappointing). Other than that, it was great. A huge filet, fried perfectly, with a giant pickle wedge and good tartar sauce (ask for extra - they don't give enough). The fries were pretty darn good, too! Like I said, the service wasn't the best, but the food was worth it. There were a couple more menu items and even some dessert items that I'd love to go back and try. read more

Very disappointed with tonight's to go order. One thin piece of fish with all you can eat fish fry dinner, no tarter sauce or slaw. My husband gets this to go very often not normally so,skimpy. Bad food and terrible service: Stopped by for lunch and ordered the Greek salad. The chicken was so dry and tough that I couldn't eat it. Didn't see the waiter until our meals were done, at which point I complained about the chicken. Waiter said he would talk to the manager. He returned with bill and said manager said "sorry. " My husband had a good sandwich, but his fries were cold and he would have liked a soda refill, but didn't happen with disappearing waitor. What I experienced was a menu that was entirely too large and detailed and a kitchen that was clearly over worked because of it. My was quite bland tasting. The salad looked to be from a bag and was served on a top small of a plate. The taste was okay. I mean it's salad. I very much could have used more dressing considering how much salad was piled on the plate. The main course was lack luster. The service was okay, but not over the top great. The only thing was that there was a confusion with the omelets and we had to wait extra long for the correct order. Great restaurant. So much comfort food for so little money. Turkey dinner comes with everything for a small price. Omlete was excellent with cheese and mushrooms and fried hash browns. Based on our own experience, I give this place 2.5 stars. Based on that of patrons around us... It's probably closer to a 2. We came in for an early dinner and while we were seated within a reasonable time frame, no one really greeted us or paid us a significant amount of attention. I had the chicken parm sandwich, my friend had the turkey club. While we waited for our food, the table of fetch nanas across the aisle from us got their dishes of lobster. Or something that was supposed to be lobster. Or used to be lobster. I mean I'm from New England (holla!) so maybe I'm being a little harsh, but uhhhh the smell was so foul and pungent that i pretty much lost my appetite. I digress. While we waited what seemed to be a little much for our food, the other table within ear shot (4 adults and 4 kids) didn't seem pleased w what was in front of them. Grandpa was down right pissed off and said that whatever he had was inedible, and between the 8 of them they sent 3 dishes back. One of which was a raw pizza. Eek. Meanwhile, as this is all happening we still haven't gotten our food. Probably because our server was, well, mature and not moving as fast as she used to and had to keep going back and forth between that one table. Again, this is not uncommon for diners--hire more people. Anyway, we got our sandwiches and the turkey club was actually really great. My chicken parm was average. Nothing out of the ordinary. Would I come back again? Probably not. Sounds like we got lucky with the food in comparison to those around us, but the service is really slow and not that friendly. There are many choices when it comes to diners in Naples. Mel's has a really nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. The decor of the diner is the 50's and 60's, with pictures of Elvis, James Dean and various license plates lining the walls. There are several specials on the menu. I ordered the kielbasi breakfast with eggs. The food is what you'd expect from a diner. The reason I give the place three stars instead of four is both times I went for breakfast I had to wait 45 minutes to get my food. I call mels to ask them and literally the manager says to me " that's not my problem that's an Uber eats issue " and I responded back " so I'm not getting my food " and his response was short and rather rude " again that's not my problem " ok so please last time I checked your problem is customer service . I'm a an Nurse and even I can give better customer service this place is complete lackluster and obviously from the previous statement by the manager he doesn't care about actual customer service so you basically get what you get and that's it . I've never ever been treated like that in my life . It was our 5th Day in Naples and after going to Church we came here for a late breakfast. We walked in to see how long it would be for a table and she said 15 minutes so waited outside and everyone gets a rod with a name on it like (mine was Roy Rogers) to hold to while your waiting for your table. We were then taken to our table and saw stuff like Old Characters (like Betty Boop), Easter stuff and a Giant Street Light. We were sat in the back. What we got was simple, Suzy got French Toast, Grandma got Scramble Eggs both with sides of Fresh Fruit and I had Eggs Benedict (There's nothing better than taking your knife and breaking through that to see the yolk flow like Lava from a Volcano) and we washed it all down with a tall glass of Orange Juice.
