Last week the shower surround was installed and the vendor included vinyl seal that would have worked, however, was not quite up to the installer's expectations. Installer (& perfectionist) 'Louis' told us he would contact the vendor regarding the vinyl and would get back to us. Today, Louis and his teammate returned & installed the correct vinyl in a couple minutes before they were off to the next job. No cutting corners. The job was done right. The glass shower surround is beautiful. We couldn't be happier.

Fast forward 2 years and we discovered damage to one floorboard - the top layer was splintering and lifting. We bought their warranty, in this case, Bankers Warranty Group/Centricity/Centricity Services of St. Petersburg, FL. So when I found the damage I called the number on the brochure and filed a claim. I was told two weeks later via a voicemail that my claim was denied. They said they do not cover water damage. I was very clear that this area is the most traversed and stood upon area of our home as it is in front of the sink. From this they concocted water damage. I tried to contact them but all correspondence is "no reply" and no one would return my calls. Eventually I was able to file another claim online. NO response at all! After another week or so I called Empire Today. They were very nice. They're always very nice. They even filed a third claim supposedly, which Centricity rubberstamped "denied" again. I worked in the insurance industry for a while..this is a shady practice, designed to encourage claimants to get frustrated and just go away. So I said to the CSR, "well if the damage is not due to an accident, or water damage, it must be a defect so I expect Empire to repair it." It has been so long now that a second plank is beginning to splinter. She put me on hold to speak with her GM. When she came back she said she had great news - her GM was willing to wave the cost of supplies but I would have to pay labor costs of $150. Surely they know I have planks here!!! ONE FIFTY to repair a defective product they installed just two years ago?!! I guess customer satisfaction is not really part of their mission statement afterall. The flooring is okay but dulls easily and no one at Empire seems to know how to care for it. I asked repeatedly during and after installation to both the installers and the office. Eventually I found answers on the internet. The joints where the baseboards meet are sloppy and some are beginning to separate. We bought from a franchise and paid MUCH more than had we gone with a local, smaller installer because we thought we would have peace of mind. HAHAHA! Empire Today is a fraud. Product is mediocre. Product is way overpriced! But most importantly, once it is installed, they DO NOT SUPPORT OR ASSIST THEIR CUSTOMERS. Support small business in your area. Hire a local contractor or handyman!

They sell you products that their not familiar with, and will not replace anything after the fact. If you order anything from the store, make sure you double check it when you get it before you install it because they take no responsibility or fault for missing items on products. The doors were good, but the biggest issue I had was with their pocket door and barn door. I asked them about a pocket door that would extend across a certain size opening. They said they had two panel pocket doors, which I thought was a great idea. Well, the pocket door came without some hardware, and after 2-3 trips back to the store, we kept receiving the incorrect hardware, and we ended up paying for this incorrect hardware because they would not give it to us as part of the purchase. In order to make a long story short, the installer they requested, kept reminding us that we did not have all the hardware for the install. Currently, I have a two pane pocket door that is not secure. You need two hands to extend it out, and you can look in behind it and see all the dust and debris from the installation. They provided nothing that would shield you from seeing inside of the pocket door when it was open. Use them if you like, but just be aware that there are no refunds, and double check that you have all your hardware and pieces for any type of installation. We even ordered a barn door that was missing some screws for installation.
