Brisket Sandwich, Smoked Tofu Sandwich & Brisket/Pork Sausage Dog
    Rudy J.

I've been going to Meltons BBQ ever since I moved to Burien 2 and half years ago from Texas. And boy do we talk Que every time. What makes Jason Meltons BBQ so good is it's his own brand of cooking. He's not trying to mimic a style or anything. He has a passion for smoked meats and knows what he likes. He's always growing, experimenting and improving while providing solid staples. His food has gotten better and better over the years to where I can easily say it's the best BBQ I've had in Seattle area. His brisket is tasty. He knows his pork and chicken. It's cooked perfectly and always on point. All his sauces are used to their last drop in this household. My wife loves his smoked tofu. His smoked meat beans are amazing and his potato salad reminds me of home. Generous portions. Meltons BBQ is more than delicious food it's a love letter to smoked meats.

Chicken roulade, mushrooms ragú, green beans and potato gratin.

The decor is humorous and pirate themed. The sandwich shop is on the small side, so large groups would find it hard to sit together. One unisex restroom. Fidel Cash Flow: A rich and savory combination of braised pork belly, sliced ham, swiss cheese, dill pickle chips, fresh cilantro, plain mayo, and a spicy brown mustard on a telera roll (4/5). Served with your choice of sides (hand cut fries, waffle fries, chipotle mac salad, & jalapeño slaw). The sandwich size was a bit smaller than expected but it did come with a side. The bread was so soft and good. I also wish it had a bit more meat to enjoy. Otherwise, still a good tasting sandwich. Come support your local business.

Been going here for several years now - poke has always been solid and the Hawaiian dishes were good not great. But today it was all different - everything was outstanding! Wife got a 2 salmon scoop poke : fish was great as always, but the seasoned potatoes (gamja jorim) she chose as 1 of 3 sides was very good. Dad had the hwae-dupbap (think of it as Korean bibimbap but with poke instead of meat) and the Cho-gochujang sauce was excellent. I had the loco moco and it was better than in the past. Also the banchan with that were fire (seasoned japchae noodles, spicy shredded radish) both better than in the past They sell most of the side dishes as banchan and as a Korean I fully endorse them. I am a huge Korean banchan snob and I will absolutely countersign their cooking I don't know what's going on but like I said - everything tastes better than before. The ajumma who runs the place said business is getting slower as the economy is imploding so let's support this awesome local business so we can keep this place around.

On top of that, the customer service was super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. And honestly, that does not do it justice. So yes, Sunday was fritos on top, the perfect relish - and just pure heaven. Then this happened! They asked why I didn't order the Maple Valley. And I was thinking - but didn't say - uhm, because it has peanut butter on it. And though I love peanut butter - I could not reconcile it with a hot dog. And boy was I WRONG! The combination of sweet and savory - the tiniest hint of peanut butter. I had no idea what was happening to my tastebuds, other than it was AMAZING! Highly recommend you find where they are parked - and regardless of what you order - just place an order. You will not regret it! And PS - love the team! Thank you for your service!

It's been a few years since I came to the Renton Farmer's market, so I thought I would return to…read morecheck it out. In the past, it was busy enough, but not crowed. Today, it was elbow to elbow. Most booths were busy, some with lines beyond belief. I had looked at the vendor list ahead of time and thought I would give this place a try. I grew up with The Frankfurter. They still have their location on the dock in Seattle and opened a new location in Sumner a few years back, but as a kid, we often ate at the Seattle Center location as well as the several other locations they had around town before they all closed. The one and only sausage I would get was called, The Italian Hot. It was basically a hot link and their menu actually calls it that now. It's a pork and beef sausage with a legitimate kick. Dirty Dawgs has a hotlink on their menu, so that was my play. One of the females on the truck was very friendly, the other not as much. I was impressed with the size of the dog, most places serve a ¼ lb sausage, this appeared to 1/3 lb, possibly even 1/2 pound. On a heat scale, it might have been a 2/10, it had flavor, but no heat, reminded me more of the polish sausage Costco used to serve, but I would assume that was the pork content of the sausage. Initially, I wasn't impressed with the $8 price tag, but it filled me up completely, and proved to be a solid value based on the portion alone. My two knocks are small, but do prevent me from giving 5 stars. 1 was the heat level. I guess the trend is to call something hot, when it's really not. Flaming Hot Cheetos aren't hot, but even they are spicier than this. 2 would be the temp. it was warm, not hot. I like my dogs to have grill marks and I like a little sizzle when I bit into them. Again, I think this person is serious about what they serve and you won't regret giving her a try, but 5 stars is for flawless food, that is also lifechanging. That just wasn't my experience. Would love to see this truck on food alley before a Mariner's game, but that stretch is full of vendors grilling up dogs like it's a competition.

The mom and daughter were tag teaming the front and kitchen. Super friendly, upbeat and welcoming. The place itself had plenty of street parking in front, but also a side parking lot. Inside the restaurant there are a few high top tables, however, it seems like take out or pick up is most popular. We ordered the Chef's Sampler Dinner which was more than enough for the two of us...and a second meal the following day! It comes with one of everything: Two sides of your choice (can never go wrong with Mac n cheese or greens), two corn bread slices, hot link, ribs, chicken, pulled pork and brisket. It's hard to say which items we loved the most, but it's hands down the most tender chicken and fall-off-the-bone ribs! I can't wait to try their stuffed turkey legs that they raved about. We decided to look at some reviews , and decided to try an item to observe the service, and the food. Upon entering nothing about the business screams "Check Me Out" , the inside was small, and so dine in is very limited, and a little awkward. There were three teens running the shop, upon entering the girl working the front was friendly but EXTREMELY loud, she wasn't extremely professional, but was nice, and friendly.. but overall LOUD. Especially for how small the space was she was loud, and the conversations herself, and the two boys working were having openly while working were definitely not the most appropriate, but I wouldn't expect less from unsupervised adolescences. Now, we both ordered a single Mac & cheese just to try something. The price of the Mac was almost $10 for a small 6oz cup... so you really don't get much for the price. Once we got our food (To Go) we immediately got in the car and opened our Mac & cheese to observe it... We were shocked that reviews didn't fall far from our own observations. The Mac had little to NO cheese , and there was a random seasoning sprinkled on top (had no flavor). I took it upon myself to add some 'Baby Rays Sweet and Spicy BBQ Sauce' to the Mac when we got home, and it made it 100% better. Overall I will be giving this place 3 stars due to: lack of professionalism, quality, quantity, and price. The staff were definitely friendly, but overall loud, and she did reference that her boss was old (in her 60's) so she'll have to help her update the photos of the food on social media. I had mentioned we came because we wanted to see for ourselves how the reviews faired.
