The restaurant itself looks nice and clean and there is a nice patio. I went to get my food to go but I look forward to returning to stay and eat. The food was okay, pupusas were good and had plenty of options to choose from. The wet burrito was just alright; the tortilla was hard and stale, and the whole thing was pretty dry. What really ruined the experience was the service. It honestly deserves 0 stars. We had to keep repeating ourselves and constantly asking for things. The waiter was sitting and chatting with another customer, literally side by side, and it felt awkward to interrupt, but I was just waiting for the curtido and salsa that goes with the pupusas. It took way too long. Also, I ordered a medium Jamaica that was listed at $6 on the menu, but when I went to pay, they said the price was actually higher and that they hadn't updated the menu. We got 3 pupusas to share: 2 revueltas (pork, bean, and cheese) and 1 asada y queso (steak and cheese). They were cheesy, yummy, and filling. I've had pupusas where you can't really taste the beans or cheese, but here they were flavorful. The steak used was a bit fatty, but I personally enjoyed it! The veggies were fresh and crunchy, and I would recommend adding their spicy sauce to the salsa for the full flavor. The dining area has less than ten tables, but the service was awesome! The ambiance of the of this place is great, too. They have a patio and inside and the decorations are great and the chairs are comfortable, which isn't a given with some restaurants. This is the 2nd time we have been here. The first time we came, we couldn't wait to come back. The chicken soup is the best I have ever had in a restaurant. But, wait for the roasted chicken to come out, after you get the broth. Their pupusas come out very hot and delicious with a variety of fillings and hot sauce. I liked the spinach, zucchini and cheese. My husband liked the steak and cheese. We have tried 6 or 7 different pupusas and liked all of them. They are $6.00 each and well worth it. Other restaurants would likely double the charge. The first time we sat inside, but today we sat in nice outside patio. It is delicious food, and very friendly service. Solid Salvadorian spot in Pasadena! My table mostly ordered the traditional breakfast which was really great! Portion was a good size, flavors were excellent. The platanos and beans were cooked well. Their tortillas are hand made and come out warm and fluffy. Their Horchata is delicious too. I think this is a newer spot , if you're in the area and are craving some good Salvadorian food, you should definitely check this place out. Service was homey, and it feels like a family restaurant. So salty! Everything except the rice (which was actually bland) was salty. I ordered 2 pupusas and they were thick... not in a good way. A good pupusa is thin all over, especially around the edges. I can live with extra masa. The problem was that the masa tasted a bit on the raw inside. I hate returning food so I just cut the edges off. The next problem was the red tomato sauce..... it was salty. I've never had it salty before and I usually mix it up with the curtido. At first I didn't know what was salty since I mixed everything together. I tasted it all separately and yeah.... the sauce was the culprit. The curtido was OK. I also ordered camarones a la diabla. Once again... things were salty. The beans were inedible. The shrimp sauce was spicy but watery and a bit salty but not as bad as the beans. The best part was the salad... Just lettuce, 1 grape tomato cut in half, radish slices, a small side of avacado sliced up and a lime wedge... cant mess a salad up that much. The rice that came with my plate was actually bland. I think they put the salt twice in the beans and forgot to salt the rice. My mom ordered beef soup. She said the vegetables looked fresh but had absolutely NO flavor. Very watered down. She added limes to give it something of flavor. The drinks were just okay. I had salvadorian horchata and it was watered down again. I could hardly taste the morro. My mom ordered the passionfruit drink. Hers was very sweet but she added water and said it was good afterwards. Over all I honestly have NO idea how this place has such a high rating. The waitress lady at the register kept forgetting things we asked for. My drink came very late, asked for an extra plate which we eventually got. Even the lady was saying she was forgetting everything with people asking her questions. Maybe I went on an off day. I usually give bad places a second chance but honestly this place would be the LAST place I ever go to. The place looked clean, parking, and had room. Accidentally found this spot while driving to another local business. Great, warm service, and authentic Central American food. They serve both Salvadorian and Guatemalan dishes. My family and I are so disappointed. We came to ha e dinner and as we parked. A man approached us with a gun on he's belt. Asking my husband what are we doing there. We were shocked! My 12 year old daughter was so scared! This man claimed to be the security guard there BUT he no uniform or name tag or anything to identify him. This could of went really bad! He stated people park here and go to in n out. We said we're not but now after they way you made us feel we will now. So we decided to take our money else where. Very disappointed in this situation!
