Mely's Cafe is such a solid restaurant for all meals, and for dining in or taking out. Service is great. Food is always so fresh and delicious. Today I got the salmon for takeout and I was so happy with my meal-the salmon was cooked to perfection and the melon salad on top was such a great compliment-veggies and mashed potato on the side was the perfect way to complete the meal. I was skeptical coming here, even after reading the great reviews it had. I think because of the location I didn't have high expectations. We came for dinner for a very early Mother's day celebration. The place was completely empty. The hostess greeted us and was very attentive from the start. For appetizers we ordered calamari, mozzarella sticks and garlic bread. From the three my favorite was the garlic bread. Our party of 5 had a chicken quesadilla, a veggie quesadilla, salmon with veggies and mashed potatoes, pesto pasta with salmon, and a steak melt. My favorite was the fettuccini pesto pasta by far! Tasty, with a hint of spice. My salmon was well seasoned with a melon fruit salad on top. Before taking off, we ordered two Profiteroles and they were amazing! My mom joked having to come back just for the dessert. Will definitely be coming back, maybe to try their breakfast menu as well. read more

Their "crab and avocado" benedict was actually a sliced sad brown avocado and dry, old-smelling imitation crab heaped in a sad clump under the one redeeming feature: a perfectly poached egg. Decided to take a chance and try a new place . The restaurant's interior is very nice, sadly the quality of the food does not match . We ordered the classic egg Benedict with bacon. Instead when we got our food the Benedict was a greasy piece of lunch meat/spam with a partial poached egg and a small amount of liquid foamy "hollandaise" . We were looking for breakfast one morning. We had heard about this restaurant but we never figured out where it was located. We were surprised to find that it was so close. We went on a Saturday morning and it wasn't to busy. There are about 4 tables available to sit inside, so be aware for a busy day. We both had the Croque Madame. It was a huge portion on food. It was very delicious. We were sad that this was the first and last time we would be able to eat at this restaurant because we were moving. So- after reading all the great reviews about breakfast, I was a little concerned about having dinner here with my wife. Took a chance and I can now say this without hesitation, if you haven't tried Mely's cafe for dinner, you're missing out. We started out with mozzarella sticks, and they were perfectly cooked and the house marinara is amazing. Spicy, not too tomato-y. My expectations blown. Next I had the Lobster Ravioli and my wife had the Chicken Valdostana. Her dish was excellent, but we fought over mine. The sauce on the ravioli's was nothing short of amazing. Bits of shrimp and tomatoes graced the smooth creamy sauce that complemented the lobster ravioli perfectly. My wife and I looked at each other and looked around wondering why this place is just a little cafe hole in the wall when we are getting served food that looks and tastes like it's from a full fledged restaurant double this size. The hospitality and friendliness of the waitress was amazing, and even the chef was there when we made our order. Great people, greater food, the only down side? It's a 1.5 hrs drive from where I live, but that will NOT stop me from coming by again. read more

My friend and I ate the crab and avocado toast. It was beautifully presented and filled with real crab. The hash brown was crunchy and tasty and overall everything was delicious. I couldn't finish my whole plate so I'm going to be excited to have the leftover. There's a real homey vibe and service was attentive. Overall, I found the food very fresh and would definitely come again even though I'm from out of the area! Next time, I would like to try their lunch or dinner items. Actually, this is one of my top three restaurants in the Bay Area (the other two are much fancier). This little gem is in an unassuming location (strip mall) and easily overlooked. Delivery was super fast. I ordered the salmon fettuccini and Caesar salad. The salmon pasta was enough to share for two. The sauce was good, not too thick but a little more on the citrusy side. The salmon was really good and tastes fresh. The portion of salmon is great! Caesar salad was also good. Croutons are tiny bite size pieces which I actually find myself liking a lot. Mely's is truly a hidden gem in an unassuming shopping center. I have had both dine in/take out from Mely's and it is consistently incredible. The smoked salmon frittata is my favorite. It's incredibly fresh and loaded with salmon and veggies. I appreciate the variety/options of included sides. The French toast is perfectly soft and sweet without being overpowering. The portion sizes are perfect. I've never had to wait more than a few minutes for my food, even with takeout and it always comes out hot. It's not the cheapest place, but I think it is worth it for a small business with fresh ingredients, thoughtful preparation and quick service. read more

Honestly, I was super suspect about trying this place, but I am so happy that we did! I'm half Italian, a super foodie, and VERY picky about my pasta. Mely's has some of the BEST pasta dishes that I've had in The Bay! We had the roquefort ravioli, the fettuccini alfredo, and the spaghetti w/ meatballs- all EXCELLENT! Please give this place a try- I'm hoping that they stay open and can stick around for a VERY long time!
