Was in the area for Title Nine's annual Replay sale and wanted to have breakfast. So I found this on my route to work and what a delightful surprise! Nothing fancy, just basic, hearty diner food. It's Denny's, Black Bear Diner, iHop, or Bob Evans without logos and franchise baggage. I had the country breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, ham steak, and wheat toast. It was all exactly what I expected and wanted. The wait staff are friendly and attentive, and the owner is a sweet lady running the register and folding napkins around silverware. Outside, Sukie's is hardly noticeable, tucked away at the edge of a strip mall parking lot. Inside, it's like every diner I've ever been in. Me and the wifey went to breakfast at Sukie's and not having been there in years I was happy to see that the food is still the same. I ordered the breakfast burrito and a short stack and the wife ordered the Country breakfast. Service was great and prompt! My coffee did not get lower than half a cup. The burrito came with county potatoes and add the short stack was not able to finish everything. Wife wasn't able to finish her entire breakfast so she had a take home plate which was good later. Haven't been to this spot in years but wanted a good ol' American breakfast Sunday morning so figured we'd give it a go. Definitely a no-frills diner. The interior could use some sprucing up for sure. But what makes this place great is the food and the super friendly and attentive staff. I ordered the hotcakes special (2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage). I also ordered a couple more sausage because yum! The wife ordered her fave French toast with scrambled eggs and sausage. And we both had coffee. Everything was sooo good. And the soft whipped-like butter and warm syrup were perfect! We'll definitely be going back. This place is like a hidden gem, way better than some of the chain breakfast restaurants where you have to wait an hour to get seated. Came here for the first time today. I enjoy non-chain restaurants. I read that the potions here are large and that they're open until 2 pm. They open at 7 am. From the outside, the place looks closed, as you come into the parking lot, you're coming in towards the back of the building. The entrance is on the opposite side. As I walked in, I got an 80's vibe. The look of the place took me back to the old days. The seats in the booths, some were ripped, carpets were old. There's counter seating available. So we ordered breakfast. I got pancakes, eggs and bacon. Bf got the fajita omelette with hash browns and toast. I liked my food, but the pancake had a rubbery texture. It didn't taste bad, just had to really cut at it with my knife. I think next time, I'll try the French toast. Bf enjoyed his food. The service was friendly and accommodating. The service was welcoming the moment I walked in, best customer service in the Bay Area!!! This staff is exceptional The staff checked on us often without hovering, kept the coffee full, and made us feel like family!!! The Food: The plate came out looking exactly like classic comfort food should. The omelet was fluffy and full of fresh veggies. The corned beef hash was the highlight - tender, well-seasoned, and mixed with perfectly cooked potatoes. You can tell they actually take their time preparing it instead of just scooping something out of a can. The potatoes had that nice balance of soft centers and crisp edges that only comes from cooking them right. The scrambled eggs with cheese on the side were cooked soft and tasted fresh. Even the coffee had that old-school diner feel: freshly made dark rich roasted taste superior coffee!!! The Experience: There's something about a place like Sukie's that feels steady and familiar. The signature items are the grits, but I wanted to venture and do something more traditional. I went with the Old Fashion Waffle with 2 eggs, and a split order of bacon & sausage. The waffle & syrup were pretty basic... Needs something like a hint of cinnamon or some powdered sugar. Same for the eggs & meat... sausage & bacon were overcooked. 8/18/24 The chicken fried steak here has won many awards (verbal medals awarded over the years from my wife). Their grits are rumoured far and wide to be an aphrodisiac. If you are into grits, get ready for a dining romance. We visited again this Sunday. A lot of hard worker looking customers eating and many raucous children making a racket. Sukie's seems much mellower on weekdays with more seniors and fewer juniors if you prefer that. The restaurant furnishings look dated (like Sukie has been on a few too many rough blind dates) but the seats are mostly comfortable and the place is mostly clean. The staff works feverishly to keep everything bussed and buzzing. With the reasonable price per portion size ratio, you will have extra cash to leave a nice tip for the staff if your heart is in that place. Sukie's proves the adage. It's a neighborhood restaurant and good for breakfast or brunch. The menu has a variety of food to please different tastes. The coffee is not that strong but drinkable and has free refills. I ordered the chicken and waffles cooked fresh to order so there's a 20 minute wait. It comes with 4 chicken legs and 1 waffle, worth it for the price. I prefer the waffle to be a little crispier. The chicken batter was crispy and seasoned well and not salty. My husband had the senior breakfasts - sausages , over easy egg, sourdough toast and rice. We came into Suki's Country Kitchen at 10:10 and had to go find a server just to place our order. There were only three of us in the section, but when a party of seven walked in, they got immediate service while we were ignored. By 10:48, we still had no food, no refills, and no check-ins from our server--yet the large party already had all their meals. When I finally asked, I was told ours was "coming," and about five minutes later it arrived. The food was just okay, nothing special. The service was awful. Our server never returned once, and I had to hunt him down just to get the check--only to find extra items had been added that we never ordered. The manager did fix the bill after I pointed it out, but that shouldn't have happened in the first place. On top of that, the restaurant felt rushed and chaotic, with plates breaking multiple times and even a dish dropped on the floor. As someone who's worked as a restaurant server before, I can say their "Southwest sit wherever you like" approach does not work--especially if you don't assign one or two staff to cover each section. It creates confusion, inconsistent service, and leaves customers like us completely forgotten. And the problems weren't just with us. As we were leaving, a party of eight came in and sat down. Even during the 3-4 minutes I was talking with the manager about fixing our bill, not a single server went over to greet them. I pointed it out, the manager glanced into the room, and then simply kept going without addressing it. Between the long wait, wrong charges, poor service, and chaotic system, this was a huge disappointment. We won't be back. Management: Slow down, assign sections properly, and focus on service and accuracy before speed. Otherwise, customers will keep having experiences like ours. This place is tucked away in the corner of strip mall, and closer to the the back end of CCC college. From the outside it reminds me of a Spires diner or old Lyons location. If you can't tell from the name, it's Korean owned. It wasn't too busy when I went, but it was on a weekday. There were only about 2 servers, but they were efficient. There were regulars that came in, and then a lot of pick up orders. The menu is one page, front and back and has a variety of selection to meet everyones dietary needs. I ordered the chicken fajita omelet with a side of grits and sourdough toast. The omelet came and it was packed with diced seasoned chicken and freshly diced green peppers and onions. (sometimes places like to use the frozen packets) the grits were perfectly cooked and alot of it so I ended up taking them home. We are in love with Sukie's biscuits and gravy! We discovered this venue a few months ago, and after my first bite, I knew this is the only local place to come for biscuits and gravy. After moving to the area from the south I have been on the lookout for good biscuits and gravy. I have yet to find a place with amazing ones, but until then these ones make the cut. I ordered sukies one sleepy morning on DoorDash. Being that I was so tired, I misread the menu and ordered the wrong thing. Ugh....I mean, just ::sigh:: What I meant to order was the linguica skillet. What I ordered was the chorizo skillet. I remembered to ask for no cheese on it but I didn't get the right meal, geez lol. When my food arrived I opened the container and immediately knew what I had just done wrong. I was so disappointed. Reluctantly I tried a bite....hm, I tried another bite. Hmm, one more bite just for data analysis. Turns out it was pretty damn tasty. Who knew! I did have moly mind set on some sliced sausage so I quickly cooked up some Evergood hot links (my fave!!) and threw those in. Even better now. The portion was gigantic.
