Visiting family in the area and looking for some breakfast before we hit the road home. Nanny's was…read morerecommended to them so we thought we'd give it a try. On street parking was readily available at 8a on a Sunday morning. Signage is clear and thoughtfully placed for different streets to see. Upon walking in it reminded me of a Northern Maine type diner. Black plastic stapled to the table with tiny holes here and there. The breakfast buffet was in use and special listed on the large chalk board. We were told to sit anywhere and someone will be with us shortly. Sure enough a young lady greeted us and asked for our drink order. We looked the menu over and all of us decided to go with the buffet. I asked what kind of coffee they served and was told Carabasset coffee. Which type was my next question as my stomach is not a fan of their dark roast. She gave me a name but not the potency. Sure cup of coffee for me too. The buffet had ample plates and amenities for fixing your plate up. Bread station was right next to plates then hot foods followed by cold foods. The pictures are what it is. Not fully stocked but that's the normal for buffets especially when you don't know what numbers to expect. However, they did not freshen it up enough while we were there. It's worth mentioning that you can order your eggs fresh so we ordered some over easy eggs. They came out when we were just about done eating. Our waitress was nice and pleasant but not fully available due to other tables. There tore our used plates began to pile up. Trash as well. They must have been interviewing new people in the back because we got to see inside of the prep area and honestly, it wasn't bad but it was not perfect. The one thing that I did see that was Troublesome was the one bathroom also serves as their stock room for paper goods and chemicals. A young man opened the door went in pensively then quickly came out and sat down. Lord only knows what he saw. Can't say we will be back but who knows over all it was OK.

Governor's really nothing spectacular, but you'll…read morealways get a good meal here...and hopefully you've saved room for dessert because the pie selection is wonderful! I used to eat here far too often when I was attending UMO. Governor's is a Maine staple going back decades. I'm in California now...but eating at the Governor's in Lewiston whenever I'm home reminds me of the good times at this Governor's in Old Town.

The theme is comfort foods, so it would be optimistic to count on chef quality cuisine. Still, the offering had a few disappointments. Mind you, the pot roast was excellent, tender and tasty, and the juice (au jus?) was much better for the mashed potatoes than the canned gravy they put next to the taters. The bbq pulled pork, the mac and cheese were fine, and I didn't risk trying the dumplings, chicken fingers, French fries or chicken pot pie. The desserts, of course were also okay. The chicken broccoli Alfredo and the pineapple rice chicken dish were also okay. No doubt I would have liked it much more if it came with a few of my own comfort food favorites, such as meatballs, kielbasa and peppers/onion, pasta dishes such as spaghetti, American chop suey or lasagna - well, I could go on. The key is to check on Facebook and see what they are cooking for the buffet before you make plans.

First of all: potato waffles. POTATO WAFFLES. Who knew such a glorious thing existed? I had one loaded with sausage, egg, and cheese and it was honestly a spiritual experience disguised as breakfast. Crispy, savory, cozy... basically the edible equivalent of being wrapped in a warm blanket while a woodland folk band plays softly in the distance. The coffee was heavenly, the kind that makes you reconsider every sad gas station coffee decision you've ever made. The atmosphere was incredibly cozy and homey, like visiting the kitchen of someone who genuinely wants you to leave happier than you arrived. The staff was so friendly and attentive without ever feeling overbearing, and meeting the owner was the cherry on top. You can immediately tell how much heart he puts into the place and how deeply he loves what he does. If you're anywhere near Dover-Foxcroft and you don't stop here, you are depriving yourself of waffle-based happiness. I'm already planning my next visit.

If you're visiting the quiet side of Acadia National Park, don't miss Clark Point Cafe. We loved it…read moreso much we went there every single day during our vacation. This is truly one of the best breakfast places I've ever been to. Everything was exceptional -- the Eggs Benedict, tartines, Turkish eggs, fresh bakery items, and all the different superb coffee selections. Every meal was fresh, unique, and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is cozy, welcoming, and relaxing, with friendly service that made us feel at home every time we walked in. Clark Point Cafe became one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Acadia's quiet side!

They were fine, not the freshest bagels I've had, but they had a good amount of cream cheese, just okay overall. The croissant was large and nicely toasted, likely not baked in-house (gave off Costco croissant vibes), but it came with a really tasty berry spread. The blueberry scone, however, wasn't great. Not a fan of the texture or flavor on that one. For coffee, I tried the dirty chai and a regular drip coffee, both solid and satisfying. But the real showstopper was the lavender latte. I'm obsessed. It was fragrant, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Easily my favorite part of the visit. I also had the BLT sandwich and the smoked salmon tartine. Both were delicious. You could tell the same ingredients (pickles, veggies, capers) were used across multiple items, but it still worked well and tasted fresh. Lastly, I ordered the Dutch baby pancake. The presentation was lovely, and it was freshly made, but the flavor was just okay, I've had better. The overall experience was really fun. People around us were checking out my food and even asked for recommendations. The staff also acknowledged our spread, which made it feel even more welcoming.
