I am not sure if this Memo's if is affiliated with the Memo's Bakery in Rancho San Diego, the lady at the counter said it was, but my first experience here is not up to par with the level quality I receive at the Memo's in Rancho San Diego. For example, I ordered the breakfast bagel with scrambled eggs, ham, and cheese on a Bialy Bagel and a cup of coffee. The breakfast bagel was okay, hence the three stars, but it could be much better with some easy upgrades. First, they not mix the cheese with the eggs. It was hardly noticeable. I could not taste it. When you put a cheese on a hot sandwich one has not see it beautifully melting on and down the sides of the ingredients of the sandwich. I would suggest they offers slices of cheese like Provolone, Cheddar, Swiss, and Pepper Jack etc., and place the cheese right on top of that pipping hot egg or ham, so that it melts into goodness into the sandwich. They also consider putting some kind of spread on the bagel too. On a good note, they put a good amount of ham into the breakfast bagel. Service was friendly enough, but it should be more friendly and welcoming. I like to see smiles where I spend my money. read more

This was my go-to bagel place for as long as I can remember. Once the owners changed it went downhill. The service is unnecessarily slow and the people who work there you can tell hate their job. No smiles. The last 5 times I have gone I said I am never going again... and after today I am not for sure. It's just little things that are not the same. Bagels bigger and more tasty, salads were superb but it seems now that I can't get a salad with all the advertised ingredients as they seem to be out of one thing or another all the time. My first time here and my bagel was delicious. I had the Golden bagel with bacon on a jalapeño bagel. The jalapeño bagel was a recommendation from the cashier and it's delicious . The service was great and friendly and I'm just enjoying my bagel in the patio area. Will definitely be back. read more

The old place was SO much better!! Bagels and the sandwiches are not the same!! Much worse quality of all the products for a much higher price. It's unfortunate because I loved this place but I will not be coming back! They also charge $15 for orange juice that you can buy at Trader Joes for 1/3 if the price. Have been going here for years and last two times had a terrible experience. Orders are wrong or missing items, online ordering was down without notice so had to call online order company to get refund and the manager at the counter was not friendly about it. We used to love going here as there are not many "local" bagel shops in La Mesa, but would rather pay more or drive further to go somewhere else. Sad because we loved golden bagel. read more

The female "owner" was abrupt and dry with me, especially when I requested a non dairy substitute for a smoothie. There was also an 18+ year kid who was condescending and rude. I agree with all the other reviews. I've lived In fletcher hills my whole life and have gone to golden bagel since I was young. Since being bought out by new owners, it is not the same. My order is always wrong, the ingredients are not the same quality that they used to be, and I've given them so many chances but I'm done giving them my business. It's extremely disappointing because this used to be my favorite place to get salads from, but they ALWAYS forget my salad dressing. I know it sounds dramatic, but it's so frustrating that it happens over and over again. read more

They're using the same menu but items are not made the same way and prices have increased significantly (beyond typical pandemic/inflation levels.) The quality has gone way down since the new management has arrived. I have been a regular at this establishment for two years, going at a frequency of about once a week or once every other week. Today I had an experience at Memo's Golden Bagel which was rude, dishonest, all around bad business practice, the bagels were undercooked and barely toasted. Just one week ago and for the last 8 months I was able to purchase 2 cheese-melts with tomato and avocado at the price of approximately $7.25 each or about $14.50 out the door. Today I paid $22.00 for the same two cheese-melts which reflects a 50% increase in price. I was told that the 50% increase in price is because everything is going up. The most dishonest part is they actually took all of the prices off of the menu at the restaurant so you no longer know the prices and then increased them 50%. I mentioned this and the lady working the front started to yell at me while there were other patrons in the restaurant. I spent $30 for two bagels and a small smoothie. I personally will never go back to this place. Please bring back the old owners. Regulars keep the lights on in privately owned businesses and they just lost one forever. Came in around 11:45am September 24th. There was a customer ordering pretty loud so of course I'm listening. Her husband had ordered what he wanted then left the building. The customers wife was completely indecisive, going back and forth between what she wanted for her and her son.. tuna sandwich, open faced vs closed etc etc. ANYWAYS the wife started arguing with the lady at the end when she had repeated the order regarding her husbands order basically saying he didnt want open faced blahblahblah. The husband walks in and the lady at the counter repeated his order and he confirmed it was in fact correct. at that point im happy that the wife was wrong considering how RUDE she was being to the lady at the counter. Of course when she goes to get the food, she opens it up and makes a snide comment then walks away from the lady at the counter. Anyways, ive gone to this place with the old management and i KNOW that the old management wouldn't have held their composure as well as the new management.
