Before heading to the DMV, I figured I should grab some lunch first. I looked up nearby spots after work and was craving a sandwich. Perfect! I found this deli & catering place! I didn't get to take many photos because it was pretty packed, even the line was long. I tried their Special #1 with chips and juice. It was really good and definitely worth trying. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, plus a bathroom. You can even watch them prepare the food, which I thought was cool. FRICKING BOMB. The man taking my order was kind and fun to talk to. Upon entering I was engulfed in the delicious smell of quality bread and fresh ingredients. I got the east county native of course but I got it panini pressed. It was loaded up and all the vegetables were fresh and crunchy. This is a quaint little spot that was relatively busy. I perused the menu on the wall (very helpful) and ordered with the gentleman at the counter. This place is a hidden gem. You walk in, you're greeted by the owner, Arthur, super nice guy. Makes you feel at home, take your order, and calls you by name. Very, very friendly. The staff is also nice, They were taking time to clean the restaurant which felt like that's a daily occurrence, not common place anymore in a lot of places. The food was really good, great flavor did not feel like a traditional sandwich place that uses overly processed meats. I would definitely be back here. read more

The sandwich came grilled panini style, It was nice to have a sandwich with both sides toasted and not moist. We also got the pablano chicken soup and splurged for the large size, with plenty extra to take home. We walked thru door and Art greeted us as if he had known us forever. The place was very clean and the employees that brought our food were very courteous. Plenty of parking, seating inside and outside. My husband and I ordered our own build-your-owns and it was BOMB They do east coast style deli and west coast subs as well...by that I mean they use mustard and oil&vinegar! These sandwiches are amazing! Always quick with my order, I usually call in ahead and pick it up. Owner is beyond nice! All the girl are quick and thorough with the sandwich making. Only thing is I wish they'd bring back the ability to get a "half" specialty sandwich. I used to order the Ashley all the time but I can not eat a whole one (or else I'll gain 50lbs) so I need to, like most people, portion control. My Sandwich Bags card was filled with 10 stamps so I decided to cash it in on my free sandwich. It was a hot day and Becky and I decided a crisp, cold sandwich would be the perfect lunch. I ordered the Egg Salad with Provolone and lettuce on sourdough. I had never before tried their egg salad. It did not disappoint. A very generous portion of egg salad was carefully stuffed between two slices of excellent sourdough. No skimping on the Provolone either, some very nice slices on top with just the right amount of lettuce. An excellent sandwich and FREE! Becky had one of her favorites. The East County Native. This restaurant is quite the hole-in-the-wall, but it is a hole-in-the-wall that really knows how to balance flavors well. My fiancé brought me here because it was recommended to him by a co-worker. I am so glad that he did. I will start with the service. The attendants behind the counter were very nice. You could tell they were ready for the end of a busy day, which we were at, but they were considerate and attentive. Actually, there was a young lady who was entertaining one of the children who came in. It was very sweet to watch. For food, I ordered the "Yo Mamma Special" which had roast beef, cheddar cheese, mustard, mayo, lettuce, and was on a panini-pressed French loaf. The flavor balance in this was amazing. You were able to taste every layer of this sandwich. The lettuce was also dressed with a wonderfully peppery vinaigrette. It was also a very large sandwich, especially for the price. We also ordered a Chicken Poblano Soup to split. It was probably one of the best soups that I have ever ordered in a restaurant. The soup had a wonderful creamy texture, nice chunks of chicken, sweet pieces of corn, and just enough heat to not overwhelm your palate. I also had the potato salad. It was a good potato salad, better seasoned than most, but not overwhelming either. I will say, that my fiancé and I have found our go-to sandwich shop from now on. read more

OMG!!! DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER!!!! I was on my way home (north county San Diego) from Sycuan Casino and was bragging about this place to my sister who LOVES Boards n' Brew...I told her I would get lunch as I promised she wouldn't be disappointed. I actually ordered something different this time! Like my previous review says this is my go to when I am out in East County or craving a good sandwich! We both ordered the veggie sandwich, but added turkey and switch it to squaw bread..OMG! SOOO GOOD! She couldn't stop eating it on the way home. I was driving so I couldn't eat...nor did I really want to b/c I wanted to enjoy it! The sandwich was so filling (see photo) that I could only eat half! The turkey was piled high, veggies all crisp and the avocado was a perfect shade of green, no brown what-so-ever. The staff is always super polite, the owner is always there and knows his regulars.
