I had to take time off work. McConnell knew this. McConnell cancelled my appointment and gave me no effective advance notice; they let me know when I walked in the door for the appointment. It's 30 miles round-trip to their business. They have almost no customer wait area. There were thunderstorms in the area but when I arrived McConnell was open, customers going in and out of their business. The tint business next door and other area businesses, all open. Weather cleared up nicely as I drove home. I attempted to reschedule the install, but after a series of emails, it became clear McConnell was not trying to accommodate reschedule. They implied they might not refund my deposit. Finally, I quit playing their games and cancelled. They wasted my time and I lost a $20 tint deposit because of them. At least in this instance, they act like customer service, they could care less.

They told me they would use Pilkington glass which is the brand to get for Honda and Toyota as this brand also supplies Honda for building the Honda's. The Honda had one of those auto darkening/built in compass rear view mirrors and that was fitted back perfectly. My previous experience with windshield replacement on our second Honda pilot did not go so well. This was by another windshield repair shop in Durham. The paint was knocked off the top above glass and then it started leaking several months later. I was recommended to this OTHER (Durham) windshield shop by Crown point Honda (dealership) and I will never go back there. I suspect the Honda dealership was probably getting kick backs for referrals. I called the top yelp recommended windshield replacement shop in North Raleigh and they said they would use Pilkington or PGW, "there choice". PGW is a joint company owned by an investment house, and online searches did not identify them as a top notch windshield manufacturer. Pilkington supply Honda that means they have tooling to bevel edge of windshields correctly and built to Honda standards. So "my choice" was to go to Carolina Windshield Centers where I knew specifically what I was getting. Two Tips: 1) avoid car dealer recommendations and check out yelp. 2) see what glass brand they are using. Pilkington goes into new Honda's and Toyota's. Carlite windshields goes into Fords. Safelite goes into NO new vehicles ... for a reason.

the team at caliber are literal saints and all stars!…read more i was rear ended stopped at a light by a driver on their cell phone who failed to even brake on a 45 mph road here in cary. my car was slammed from behind and pushed into the car in front of me and undriveable. it was towed off and then the at fault driver's insurance caught wind their $50,000 property damage limit was likely insufficient for two damaged cars and they left it all on me. enter alora. i needed to get the car towed somewhere to assess damage. caliber was slammed but the only place that came highly, highly recommended. as alora was recommending back up places i started to cry explaining the insurance left me hanging with three costly car seat replacements, a crazy hassle for a comparable rental, and a back and forth runaround that was insane ... and then she took control... she wanted to help. and help me she did: they did more to get things moving than both insurance companies.  she knew my car was likely a total loss and yet alora took it upon herself, busy as can be, to reach out to the regional liberty mutual rep to get them to issue a claim number so she get things moving. i have a business background and if that isn't girlboss, tell me what is. i'll wait. car accidents are expensive. they are a navigation and logistical nightmare. if you're in this situation i am so very sorry. repairs take real professionals. the best thing you can do is go to a team that cares to do right. I do wish the front windshield was a little darker but I definitely love the darkness of the other windows. It has definitely helped with my migraines and keeping the car cooler. Just a side note they may take your vehicle to their other shop to do the tint. I wasn't particularly crazy about not being told someone might have to drive my car elsewhere. Overall I'm happy.
