Oh Anchorage Menchie's... your days are so seriously numbered. How unfortunate. It is so difficult for us to get national chains like this here and then they arrive and squander the opportunity. In other cities Menchies are GLORIOUS. This place is a borderline sh1t-hole. After coming here for a family member's birthday at their request, I was baffled, because there are numerous locally owned frozen yogurt shops that in outstanding. This place is trash. Here's why: - its clear the staff members are underpaid and not invested. (They were playing Uno when we came in.) Their level of engagement was less than minimal. - Several of the machines were out of service. This is a small shop to begin with. With so few flavors to chose from, its not really very enjoyable trying to figure out what flavors will work together. Not a good selection of flavors that work well together. Yuck - Many of the toppings were stale or rotten or under-ripe. Pineapple, rotten. Strawberries mix of rotten and underripe. And the mochi, MOCHI.... half of it was bad. Did you know it coukd go bad?!?! I didn't. Sigh... Give the lack of engagement of the staff, this did not surprise me. How long did some of that stuff have to be sitting out to go bad? I used to work in food services... there's rules about that stuff! GROSS. do not recommend this Menchies at this time. Super bummer. read more

I'm honestly really disappointed with my experience at Menchie's Frozen Yogurt. The employee working seemed completely disengaged and unmotivated, which honestly made the whole place feel unwelcoming. It gave the impression that staff are either underpaid or not valued enough to care about customer service, because there was zero effort to greet customers or be helpful. What made things worse is the inconsistency with their posted hours. Online it clearly says they are open from 12 AM to 11 PM, yet they seem to close every single day at 10 PM instead. On 2-22-26 at exactly 10 PM, we walked into the establishment and were immediately told they were closed, even though the hours online still said they should be open. We ended up just leaving, confused and frustrated. If the store is going to close at 10 PM, the hours should be updated instead of misleading customers. Service felt unprofessional during my visit. Staff seemed distracted and not focused on customers. Guy who used to work and I haven't seen in months there is trying to help from across the counter and distracting the workers. I really do love this place - but todays visit wasn't the best Young lady working the register was pretty "mean mugging" face. I finished my yogurt creation before my partner and every time I come they allow me to weigh my yogurt and then can add my partner yogurt weight. This allows me to get to indulge before it starts melting. Today the lady would not allow me to do that. The store was empty aside from us two, but as I waited to kids came in and asked for root beer floats, so the lady walked away from the register to the back. They were out of a lot of toppings (Oreos being the biggest bummer followed by sour worms). The gummy worms container is broke so it doesn't stay open and when I went to add chocolate syrup it was completely empty. I let the young lady know but she didn't seem to care. I can't believe I haven't been here in years. Well, COVID had us all hunkering down... I was impressed with the sanitizer offered plus gloves. There was a variety of frozen yogurt, and fresh fruit toppings plus your regular candy/chocolate/sweet cereal toppings. Only one popping fruit bubble topping option (my fave), but they did have a marshmallow fluff plus different chocolate sauces and whipped cream. I liked how clean the place was and how helpful the staff was. Got the kiddo all sugared up and we'll have to come back again soon! read more

We came here for dessert. My boyfriend went to go use the restroom and the light was off and he surprised one of the employees sitting on the pot in the dark on his cellphone. The door was not locked. The light off meant he'd been sitting in there long enough for the timer to shut it off. There was an awkward moment of realization where they locked eyes, my boyfriend just quietly backed away and shut the door. As we're checking out, the employee comes out of the restroom, they lock eyes again and the employee just slowly walks away. We laughed so hard that we couldn't eat our yogurt right then. We continued to laugh about it all night. Best entertainment ever. Best Menchies trip ever. All in all, the establishment was clean, well kept, and the employee that helped us was great! So good! I've been to tons of frozen yogurt places that just didn't cut it. This place has great flavors, a gazillion toppings, and reasonable prices. (If you don't put a boatload of toppings like I did lol) my husband son and I could barely finish this. It cost about 10$ and if we had each gotten our own I'm assuming it would have been less. This place was clean and didn't have the strange sour laundry smell some frozen yogurt places have on the tables and by the toppings. The cashier was super nice and more than happy to help us figure out what was what. When he had no customers he was constantly cleaning. Another plus!! I hate germs. Smh. It was a small place so it was loud and a tad crowded, but they had a fire place in a separate room that kinda made up for that. All in all, I'd come here again. For those of you looking for mochi or the boba balls. Menchies is a national chain. It's not Norma to see these two things at frozen yogurt shops. Due to the high Asian population in anchorage this is why you see some have them, usually ran by Asians. Just FYI! Not knock menchies just because they don't have these items. It is frozen yogurt flat out. This place has the most flavors and interesting ones at that in Anchorage. That "Cable Car Chocolate" that a rival carries tastes just like your eating the cable car grease or something! I LOVE the fact that they have Hot Fudge (real stuff), Hot Caramel, Hot Marshmallow, Hot Reeses Peanut Butter and there is one more...can't remember. I also love that they have Cool Whip! They may not have as many berries and what not as other places, but come on its froyo! OMG, so let me tell you what happened to me at Menchie's. I took my sister's kids (ages 7-11) to Menchie's, per the request of the 8-year-old. I walk in with three kids to get frozen yogurt. I would like to note that when I lived out of state, there was an ice cream shop that charged per cup size, but you dished your own ice cream. There was nobody in sight to greet us or explain, so like an IDIOT, I let the kids start checking out the options. The youngest I was able to control but the other two pretty much dished what they wanted in their cups. As I take the four ice creams up to the counter, the employee comes out from the back, and she points to the scale... Yup, Menchie's charges by weight. The ice cream was fine - rich flavor, plenty of mix-in options, clean facility. Not worth an average of $10 per cup for what is basically the equivalent of a Gotta Have It from Coldstone. Totally not Menchie's fault I'm a doofus, but don't forget they charge by weight, LOL! Customer service was mediocre (based on no employees being present for the first 5 minutes we were there). This is a 5 star yogurt place, LOTS of toppings, and they change out their flavors often! I love coming here because I always run into people I know! Kind of gives you a small town feeling. They get 4 stars because the last few visits (I admit the visits are too frequent even for living in Wasilla) they have had 3+ empty machines which is kind of disappointing... I like variety... I have very fond memories of this place. I'm not a long time fan as I only have gone since March 2016, but for a while there I was going at least 3X a week. Mostly it was at the request of a family member who was living with me. I came in again and was pleased nothing had changed in the slightest. I came in here earlier today to satisfy my sweet tooth. I have been a fan of Menchies for the last several years and they have these everywhere when I lived in North Carolina. This place has a good seating area for a small yogurt shop. Plenty of trendy style tables and chairs to go along with the store's design. They also have a separate room with additional chairs and tables as well as a fireplace built into the wall. The employees here are friendly and upbeat and always quick to help you with a smile. The toppings for Menchies has become more varied and creative every time I visit and today was no exception. Aside from the standard chocolate, vanilla, and original tart, I decided to try some of the new ones like Marshmallow Peeps, a new flavor in time for Easter that is lemon-flavored with Peeps mixed in and the Graham Cracker Crust which closely resembled its namesake and was absolutely delicious. I mixed these two flavors as well as topping it off with chocolate in a medium sized cup. I still had room to put toppings on top of the chocolate without spilling over the cup and making a big mess. They had a good assortment of toppings from chocolate bar bits, pieces of fruit, a variety of sundae sauces, candy pieces, and cereal. I topped off this masterpiece with strawberries, cookie dough, roasted almonds, bits of Butterfinger and Oreo Cookies, Reese's Peanut Butter Sundae Sauce (this was awesome and something I would definitely buy if they sold this at Costco) and Fruity Pebbles (yes, Fruity Pebbles). The cereal actually enhanced the overall flavor and reminded me of how I add Rice Krispy cereal to a bowl of vanilla ice cream for a sweet crunch. They also hand out punch cards for frequent visitors which would give you discounts or a free yogurt in future visits. I lost my card in the move from North Carolina, but they can also record your purchases by typing in your cell number. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and also in a decent location in South Anchorage close to Abbott and Lake Otis. read more

Personally I'm a Pink Berry fan, no Pink Berry in Alaska :( but Menchies isn't bad. They have a decent selection of froyo. I like fruit flavors and they have lots of those. The toppings bar is large but mainly candy. The fresh fruit toppings are a bit limited when I visited, which is why I knocked a couple stars off, come on now. Hopefully the next time I am there the won't have empty fruit topping containers? The space is nice, they evevn have a small seperate room and the location has lots of parking. Ever since I first drove by Menchie's, I had been fixated on trying it. I have to admit I was greatly disappointed when I saw it was yet another self-serve yogurt shop. I don't know about everyone else, but when I dispense my own yogurt it usually winds up looking like a messy pile of dog poop. I'd prefer a professional be in charge of the swirly goodness. That being said, the yogurt was pretty tasty. I find Yogurtland's flavors to be slightly superior. I also dislike that many of Menchie's toppings are candy. I'm more accustomed to fresh fruit and mochi and although I was tempted by the nonpareils, I wound up finding the whole concoction to be really sweet. To be clear, they do have mochi and fruit, just not a huge selection. My yogurt was also more expensive than Yogurtland, but I'll admit the atmosphere at Menchie's is superior. They really worked hard on creating a fun, lively space. It feels like Menchie land. Even the smiley clerk looked like he'd jumped out of a Super Mario Brothers video game. One of the biggest annoyances is that it's too crowded. I'd say it's the price of being popular, but they also could have spaced out the yogurt machines with more elbow room. It makes you feel like you're on an assembly line. For me, the nail in the coffin is that Menchie's is very far from downtown. I have no reason to ever go to that area. With Yogurtland near my house, I feel no need to return to Menchie's. I was definitely glad to try it though! I wish it much success for all the Southies. read more

This self serve yogurt shop is clean and the staff is eager to help most days. Open during COVID-19, I was able to get my FroYo fix during the most depressing parts of our national loss. I like this place. It's clean and they change out the flavors about weekly but keep the most popular flavors everyday like vanilla, chocolate and tart. This most recent time we came in at 10:30pm (they closed at 11pm) and it was busy...yet they had the closed off half of the seating area as we walked in, so we grabbed the last available table. There were a group of people who came in after us standing around eating their ice cream looking for any place to sit. They never found seating so after standing around, they walked out. So 4 stars for early cleanup on 4th of July weekend, not best business practice. read more

I'm from a different part of the state and when I came into town recently Menchie's caught my attention. First thing I noticed was how busy it was. I went in on a bustling Friday night and let me tell you, it was packed! For a brief moment I thought "Boy, this is a little tight and uncomfortable" But then quickly I came to my senses and realized it wasn't packed with customers for nothing. I knew there must be a reason so many people loved the place. Through the crowed of froyo fans I made my way around the amazing flavors. First thing I liked was that I could grab sample cups and taste any flavor I wanted without a employee doing it for me. The flavs were amazing and as I made my way through the snackage bar it just got better and better. I highly recommend this place for a fun, outgoing, and tasty atmosphere. read more

The newest place for froyo in town, with more flavors and topping options than any other so far. Menchies, like Yogurtland in the south terminal of the airport, is a franchise business, which comes with pluses and minuses. Thankfully, the pluses far outweigh the minuses. The owner is warm and welcoming, as is the overall interior of the shop, which consists of a main area with the yogurt and toppings bar, as well as a sealed off by glass private room, which would be great for small parties. While I'm not sure if this is true or not, it seems like there are more yogurt flavors than other shops. I know the choices are much more interesting, like cookies and cream and Mud Pie, among others, instead of the overabundance of tarts and the like, such as Soyo offers. That doesn't mean there aren't plenty of healthy options, mind you, as on my last visit there were multiple low to nonfat flavors, and at least three sugar-free flavors as well like mint and vanilla. read more

This place is great! I think they are a bit pricey at over $0.50 per ounce, but they have wide variety of toppings. I've been 3 times this summer and there's always at least one topping, in the cold area, that as run out. DONT GET THE CHOCOLATE WAFFLE BOWL. The waffle bowl is fine, but the chocolate is artificial... Tastes like the chocolate flavored candies you buy at the dollar store,it's waxy and low quality. Other than that, they have maybe 12-14 flavor of frozen yogurt with both a mix of sweet and tart flavors! They also have outside seating in the back in the summer, but there's only 1 umbrella and 4-5 tables. I love eating frozen yogurt for lunch on a sunny day!! read more

Came in here as it was recommended by a friend and it was a spacious, light filled room. It was slow when we were there so we had the yogurt bar to ourself and got to pick from like 50 toppings! They have dairy free options! I was sad because they were cleaning all their dairy free ones so I got the tart black cherry which was AMAZING with Mochi. It hurt my tummy but I chose to eat it because I thought it was delicious! We also got the chocolate Andes mint, which said it was made with soy which I'm also sensitive to. Thank you menchies, I'll make sure I come and try your other flavors!! They also sell pints of their froyo along with froyo cakes by the door. So tempting. The customer service was good. read more

Of the few self serve yogurt shops in the Anchorage area, Menchie's is at the BOTTOM of the list. The yogurt has an icy consistency, almost like a Jamba Juice, it is not on the creamier side like the other yogurt shops in town. Having been to a TON of these types of yogurt places in Anchorage & the lower 48, I've gotta say this is my favorite. They rotate yogurt flavors (including nonfat, non dairy, low carb, kosher, etc), and have a great variety of toppings. Love that you can try samples of the flavors.
