We visited Wild Scoops on a gloomy, rainy day in Alaska, but it came highly recommended by everyone I know who's visited Alaska, so I knew I had to try it for myself! Maybe I caught them on an off day, but I was a little disappointed with the flavor selection at this location. Whenever I travel, I always try to order ice cream flavors that are fun, unique, and specific to the place I'm visiting. I ended up ordering the White Rayven, which was essentially a basic cookies-and-cream flavor. Based on the Yelp reviews, I knew I had to get my ice cream in a waffle cone topped with a Baked Alaska. One Yelper even mentioned that they don't like marshmallow but loved the Baked Alaska here, so I had high hopes. Unfortunately, it just wasn't for me. The waffle cone, however, was absolutely delicious! The ambiance was really cute and cozy, which was especially nice on such a gloomy, rainy day. It had a fun, welcoming feel that made it a nice little spot to stop by and enjoy some ice cream. The service was great too! Everyone was friendly, and our ice cream was prepared quickly and neatly. It was a little on the pricey side, though--we paid about $20 for two ice cream cones. Overall, I'm glad I finally got to try Wild Scoops, even though it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. I'll definitely be back, though, and hopefully next time I'll get to try one of their more unique flavors! read more

Delicious delicious ice cream flavors. The salted caramel was amazing. Wasn't too salty and wasn't too sweet. Just the perfect combination. It is a tiny bit pricey but well worth it. They do also have vegan options It is a small little window you order from. You may run into some homeless people and there might be a small wait after ordering but well worth it. Great variety of local flavors you can't get anywhere else. The only issue I have is that the point of sale (POS) is antiquated. All handwritten and saw a lot of mistakes for the 30 minutes watching orders go out that were wrong because it's all handwritten by teenagers doing the best they can with the resources given them. I think management has an opportunity to step it up to make the sales process and customer order 100% accurate. Otherwise great product! read more

So darn good, we ended up going both days we were visiting Anchorage! They have a variety of local flavors like wild blueberry, fireweed, spruce tips, and more as the seasons change. One of my favorite things was the option to get your scoop with "baked Alaska" - aka torched marshmallow fluff on top. It was so tasty and fun! Fantastic ice cream and I'm devastated that I won't be able to get it again for the foreseeable future, as I was in Alaska on a work trip. I'm not ashamed to say I came a lot the week I was visiting Anchorage. No seating, and you order outside at the counter. I tried Sitka Swirl and Sunshine Club. They were both delicious - not too sweet, and great creamy texture - not icy. Their homemade caramel that's in the Sitka Swirl is phenomenal. It might be for the best that they're not located in California, because I would get their ice cream way too much. Sunshine Club has homemade lemon curd, which was fantastic and tart. It's combined with snickerdoodles and is such an indulgent treat. It would be even nicer if they had indoor seating, but alas. Highly recommend - fantastic. read more

It looks like maybe it once was a walk-in, but this current setup works. The line was a few people deep but moved fast. I had a double scoop in a cup - the Wild Blueberry and Campfire (think s'mores ingredients). The Blueberry was smooth and delicious, and the Campfire was full of nibs and chunks. Also delicious and I'd have a hard time saying which I liked better. A double scoop is $8. Add $3.25 more and upgrade to "Baked Alaska-style," which is your scoops in a waffle cone with a toasted marshmallow topping. My daughter would like you to know that you won't regret it. read more

Got to experience this absolutely amazing ice cream shop on vacation. They have some of the most amazing selections of homemade ice creams and then to add the Alaskan bake on top!? (Marshmallow creme fluff that is toasted). The place is had a line outside the door, for good reason. Inside was adorable and quaint, with plenty of room to maneuver about. Staff were busy and on it, but also patient with customers. I personally love the Sitka Swirl and Fireweed ice cream flavors. My wife and I shared a small with Fireweed and Rhubarb Crumble. We hadn't seen these flavors anywhere else in the world at an ice cream shop so it was a delight to experience them. The fireweed was a unique Alaska-only flavor and the rhubarb crumble (our favorite of the two) was an indulgent treat! There are a number of other treats to try besides their daily flavors in cups or cones including sampler flights, "frozen nachos", and a Baked Alaska! Every time we walked by there was a line of varying lengths but it went fairly quickly so don't get turned off by that. It's a window front establishment so the line and service is on the street. It was good, didn't blow me away but it was the best one out of the flavors I tasted. Service was friendly, they let us sample a few flavors.
