Love it here, and come here often. However, I've noticed recently some of the staff are very unfriendly. I was there last night and 2 of the young ladies there were absolutely miserable. It's very sad to see at such a fun and inviting place where lots of our tourists come. Finally got to visit Wild Scoops! This place stays busy but all staff work together seamlessly to keep their lines moving. The atmosphere is bright and warm despite them selling frozen goods. Wild Scoops has seasonal/rotating flavors. I believe if you visit often enough you may start to memorize their rotating flavors. Unfortunately, I cannot give 5 stars as I came specifically to try a Filipino dessert collab that was advertised to come with WildScoops Filipino flavored ice creams. For some odd reason, Wild Scoops did not make their Filipino flavored ice creams available when we came...disappointing. Despite this, what me and my girls were able to try, was fantastic. We visited Wild Scoops on a Thursday afternoon and were greeted with a line out the door - and the entire time we were there, the line never shrunk! Single ($5.25) - This includes a single scoop of ice cream in a small 4oz cup. It honestly looks kid sized! I guess a good portion for people calorie counting? For the ice cream, we went with the AK Birch Almond. This ice cream has a delightfully strong sweet and nutty almond flavor. The texture is a bit stretchy and gummy, fluffy but rich. I feel like they use a bit more gum stabilizers than some other artisan shops which gives the stretchy quality. I have not had birch syrup but I've had birch water and love the sweet mineral flavor. I'm not sure that it really comes out much since the toasted almond flavor is so strong. (4/5) We also sampled two flavors which we've never had before: Fireweed, which is sweet, floral, and a bit fruity, and Spruce Tip, which I can't really describe the taste of. I'd heard the buzz about this ice cream spot, so I had to see what the fuss was about. I rolled up around 9 PM--an hour before closing--and the line was already out the door. That's when I thought, okay, this has to be good. I'd seen a few videos hyping up their signature toasted cream topping, so I knew that was a must. Inside, the vibe was warm and welcoming, with a spread of unique flavors--even options for the lactose-intolerant crowd. One thing that stood out? They offer metal spoons for sampling instead of plastic ones. A small touch, but very cool and sustainable. The place has a good amount of seating inside and a bench outside, but judging by the crowd, snagging a seat on a busy day might take some luck. Now, the star of the show: the ice cream. I went with Redoubt's Revenge--a spicy chocolate flavor that totally surprised me. Smooth, rich, and with just the right amount of heat. Think Mexican hot chocolate in frozen form. We haven't been to Anchorage in years. But we remembered how good Wild Scoops had been and made it one of the first stops of our trip. Just as good (if not better!!) as we remembered it. The original location we had visited was closed. However, even though it was a bit more away from the downtown area, loved that it's a much larger location with plenty of indoor seating. I found Wild Scoops on a whim and decided to visit after my last day living in Anchorage for 2 months. And let me tell you, I am SO upset that I found out about this place later on because I'm now sitting in the lower 48, wondering how I can find something equivalent! The line was out the door despite it being a snowy day and I was there for ~40 minutes, the line was very consistent! I wanted to sample all the ice cream, the flavors were so unique! My favorite part is that they have actual vegan ice cream and not just sorbets. The vegan ice creams are made with oat milk and as a lactose intolerant, I am so grateful! I went a little all out. Wow this place is popular. The line was long on a Wednesday afternoon. My husband and I split the ice cream "nachos." It comes with 3 kids scoops, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, sprinkles, and waffle cone chips. My favorite flavor was the buttermilk blueberry! So good! We also had the chocolate and the white raven (Oreos in a sweet cream base). The only thing I didn't like was the chocolate syrup. It tasted very dark like raw cocoa powder or something. We stopped by this ice cream store after a dinner at moose's tooth on a Sunday night. We did have to wait in a 35 minute line outside but they did post the flavors & menu outside so everyone could be prepared to order when they got to the front of the line. I got a single cone with chocolate and Rhubarb Crumble flavors in a waffle cone. The chocolate was solid but nothing to write home about. The rhubarb crumble flavor however was rich and complex and absolutely delicious! So unique and yummy. Highly recommend trying that one!! And the waffle cone was...WOW. Not too crispy. Very fresh. This IS Alaskan ice cream. A great place for locals because it's so delicious, but also great for tourists who can try new local flavors like Spruce tip. Wait in line, get the home-made waffle cone and get an extra scoop cause this place is bomb. I noticed the table situation and seating is severely lacking. They could put up some cheap folding tables with colorful umbrellas outside during the summer to add some visibility and places to sit. The place gets crowded and lots of people are just standing around like homeless people with ice cream cones in their hand. If you like ice cream (who doesn't?!), you NEED to come here. This Wild Scoops is located in the same plaza as Great Harvest Bread (on the opposite side) and Metro Cooks with plenty of parking available. I have gone to this location twice and wished there was one back at home in Los Angeles because the flavored ice creams they have available is very good. On my first visit, my husband and I were greeted by a friendly employee behind the counter. We ended up purchasing: Double Scoop (in a bowl), $7.50- We ended up choosing Fireweed and AK Birch Almond. Fireweed is a tall wildflower that grows abundantly in Alaska, and is affected by forest fires (thus the name). This pretty flower had a nice floral sweetness that I really liked. The birch almond was also very good with vanilla ice cream mixed with swirls of birch syrup. For those of you that do not know, birch syrup is processed from birch wood (which seems to be abundant here in Alaska) and depending on when it is harvested (as my husband and I had learned from a tour that there are different runs), it has a nice caramel flavor and can resemble the consistency of molasses. This syrup had a nice flavor balance with the vanilla. Portion size for this double scoop bowl was pretty generous and actually a great price because back home, I have paid a little more for less of the amount. The second time my husband and I visited, we came last Saturday in which Alaska 529 (an organization that can help those budget for school) was buying every visitor a free scoop of Wild Scoops (at all 3 of their locations). On this visit, we ended up getting: Bridge Creek Birch on sugar cone- This ice cream is similar to the AK Birch Almond but is made with oat milk and birch syrup instead. My husband was curious to see how this would compare with the other version and so he ordered it. He liked it but I didn't. I thought the oat milk had a strong after taste. The sugar cone itself was good though. Wild Blueberry- Alaska is also known for their wild blueberries so I decided to try this. I am not the biggest blueberry fan but I really loved this ice cream. The flavors were pronounced and not artificial tasting. I loved that the ice cream was nice and creamy. Both my husband (and our little girl, who also loves ice cream too) and I really loved the local flavors that Wild Scoops had to offer. If you are looking to try a local favorite, then make sure to visit any of Wild Scoops locations. You won't be disappointed. read more

WOW WOW WOW! I have absolutely no words for how delicious this ice cream was. I came around 7:30pm and the line was to the door, but it went by super fast. Apparently during peak season, the line is way far out the door. The service went by super quickly. They had a variety of unique flavors and I sampled a few, but the Sitka Swirl was absolutely delicious. I got it baked Alaska style, which was definitely the right move! It is $3 extra, but so worth it in my opinion. I want all my ice creams I eat to be baked Alaska style. It's a cute little shop with limited seating indoors and a few benches outdoors. They have different flavors from time to time. Definitely worth the trip when you come to Anchorage.
