Fun fact, this store is by far the most expensive Hardware/Lumber store I've ever seen and for a good reason. We're stuck in a region that's isolated. I've never seen so many things marked up beyond high prices. If you can suck it up and make a trip to Ukiah they have a Home Depot there. This place makes Home Depot seem cheap. Make a list of items to buy then drive the distance to Ukiah. If not this place will nickel and dime you. I honestly don't even know how this place is even open when we're the 5th poorest county in the state of California. It's the price you pay living in a isolated area. read more

Still in the 21st century People are still getting racially profiled and discriminated against. I Purchase a grill over the weekend for a family event only to get it home and it not be conducive to what i needed. I kindly boxed it up to return it 2 days after my original purchase only To my surprise there is no return policy posted in store or on there receipts at all . I guess The manager makes them up and enforces very hurtful tactics to persons of color only. I can't believe such a place still operates in barbaric behaviors. I called two minutes before closing to ask if they had a spray paint I was looking for. Brandy hunted until she found it. I had called one other store who listed having it on line, and the person in paint was not helpful. Brandy held the one can they had left in stock, and even called me the next day to be sure I knew their closing time, so I could pick it up. My husband and I both enjoyed the positive outlook of Brandy and will be back here when we need other items. The people were helpful and the store was well stocked. read more

I went in to quickly buy one camping chair as i had already checked a few other places that didnt have it. I went over to the counter to check out and right as a woman was about to help me, a very rude woman named Janet came over and took over her register and made me wait minutes while she very slowly switched it to her till. After waiting for minutes, I was starting to check out and because there is service my transaction wouldnt go through, so I stepped outside for less than 15 seconds, and it went through, then I went back inside and she had then let the next people go, which was a group of 4-5 people, with a completely full shopping cart. she then checked them out then they were all just standing there for about 10 minutes as she was mindlessly clicking on her computer and slowly speaking. she clearly was not trying to hurry at all, even though i was standing there waiting to pay for my one item, and there were also two other customers waiting to check out besides me. I did not have time to wait in the store for 20 minutes to buy ONE item. That crowd of people proceeded to not be helped until the store was already closing. She is not fit to work here. read more

I can personally recommend Mendo Mills to everyone who needs quality materials and excellent customer relations. They have some of the best staff, in both the Clearlake and Lakeport stores. The employees are not very helpful or knowledgeable. The store is not set up well. When we went to pick up our supplies in the lumber mill, the gate attendant had a mask but it was hanging from his ear - what good is that? He even partially stuck his head in our truck - who does that? I would much rather spend my money at Kellseyville Lumber. read more

I've done a great deal of shopping around Lake County for lumber and hardware. Many friends recommend other stores but I've got to tell you MENDO MILL/Ace Hardware in Lakeport is the absolute best! Today I placed a relatively large order to be delivered. At first it was a little complicated but then I was connected with a customer service tech by the name of Whitney. This young lady was exemplary! She handled every question and every answer professionally and got the products I needed and set up delivery to my specifications. Customer service is always difficult in all businesses. And customers like to gripe when they don't get service they expect ... now matter how outlandish the expectation. Whitney didn't hesitate. Her attitude? CAN DO!! As I said, I'm a loyal Mendo customer. Now, thanks to Whitney, I'm a Lifer!! Good job Mendo Mill management! Thanks Whitney!! read more

Sometimes, there could be more people on the floor, other times, I get swamped. But, they are always helpful, generally have great attitudes, sometimes going the extra mile for you, and I couldn't ask for more, from a small-town hardware store. I went to Mendo Mill Lakeport to pick up some lumber to make a planter box. I shop there a lot and have always been happy, until today. When I got there at 4:10 there was a line of about 12 people and only 2 counter workers. After waiting in line approx. 25 minutes I asked the price on 6" x 6' redwood fence boards, well they were to expensive so the counter guy said he had cedar for a cheaper rate I said fine give me 11 plus 4 2 x 2 8'. I got my yard tag and went to yard I was asked if I knew were items where and I said yes. I went to get 2 x 2 first. No one asked if I needed help loading so I helped myself, all they had was some warped units I picked the best 4 and went to the fence boards. There was approx. A half pallet. As I scanned them I could tell they were what was left of all damaged boards. I asked for a new pallet but was refused and told after almost an hour of waiting they do not let people pick through that grade. No one said anything an hour earlier. With no apology they gave my money back. After getting home we called a manager and was told again with no apology that their profit for that grade was to little to care. I have never felt more like a unneeded or unwanted customer in my life. I my not spend a lot of money there but enough to get a little more respect. read more

We love going to this store for the great product & plant varieties. The employees on the other hand, are rude, seem very frustrated & should learn about the products they carry. It seems like they hire adult teenagers. read more
