The staff at Sebastopol Hardware is very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a wide variety of stuff, more than you can imagine and can find it for you. Yesterday the paint center perfectly matched outdoor paint from a sample. Perfectly! They also mix up less than a gallon and will do quarts or even pints which you may need for touchup. They sell high quality paints that last more than 10 years or you can get cheap paint from the big box store an repaint in two years. read more

It's spring at the Sebastopol Hardware Center. So many beautiful veggies and flowers for sale outside. They also have an indoor plant area in the back which is filled with a great selection of healthy-looking plants. The store has gone through a facelift and it feels very spacious and organized. They had a pretty display for Easter and lots of Le Creuset products in an array of colors. I was pleasantly surprised to see their wide assortment of gift items too. If my husband needs a certain hardware item, it is great to have a local hardware store that entertains me as he's looking for whatever he needs. What makes a good hardware store? A buyer who know what people really want: quality products. I went out of my way (Healdsburg) to get a can of Arm-R-Seal. This is a high quality finish that is foolproof to use and it is very difficult to find! Big box stores don't carry it. Because Sebastopol Hardware Center carries it, I suspected that they have a lot of other items of high quality that I might enjoy. I was right! Tactical 5.11 clothes. Reptiles (a pets section). Some outstanding hats. Bigfoot. (Where else on earth can you buy Bigfoot?) What's not to like here? Even if you don't buy anything, you can still get a free bag of freshly made popcorn to enjoy while you walk around looking at stuff you are not going to purchase. My bet is that you will not be able to finish that bag of popcorn without seeing something you cannot resist! read more

I just left this place of business after waiting for assistance for a replacement part for my Green Egg grill. I asked 2 different workers for help and then waited and waited. During the wait time, numerous workers passed me and refused to make eye contact. Disappointed, frustrated and quite frankly, shocked that this place of business would remain operable with this type of work ethic. read more

I come here often for odds and ends. This weekend, I had a long-shot ask for a specific connector I needed to fix a pull cord on one of our blinds. When I asked for help, the gentleman quickly understood my sub-par description of what I was trying to fix and pointed me to a small hardware item that he thought would work. It wasn't the specific branded product I needed (I knew they wouldn't carry it) but because he understood what I needed, he pointed me to something that worked just as well...for about a tenth of the cost of the branded item. He went out of his way to find a 19-cent item that saved me a ton of trouble. Always friendly people and a good selection of hardware, clothing and other items. read more

I have been holding this in since November. I finally decided to write a review because this has now happened twice! Back in October 2017 when we had our fires, I went to Sebastopol Hardware to purchase N95 masks. Our office is on Pleasant Hill Road and the smoke was coming into our office. I asked to purchase a box of masks for our staff so we could attempt to work that day. I was told they wouldn't sell me a box but would only sell me 2 masks and they were charging $4 per mask. OMG! So this year in November when Paradise had their fire, Sebastopol was smoked in by 11am. I once again went to Sebastopol Hardware Center to purchase N95 masks for our entire staff. Once again I was told they would not sell me a box and that the masks were once again $4 per mask. I left angry and went to Harmony Nursery. I bought a box oF 10 N95 masks for $16. Our entire staff could continue to work the that day. SHAME ON YOU SEBASTOPOL HARDWARE CENTER! I will NEVER shop their again!!!! read more

The experience I had here was awful. I went in looking for the Yeti Wine Tumbler which they had. On Ace hardwares website it says that they had it in stock for $18.74 so I drove all the way over there Only to find out the price was different in store. The price was the original $24.99. I asked the cashier if they price match their own website and they stated they did not (mind you I went over there thinking I was going to get the tumbler for 18.74). I was told I needed to order it online and that they were not sure when it will be ready for me to pick up. To me this is awful customer service. Especially during this time I would want to keep customers happy and keep them coming back. I work in retail and I know that in many occasions I have priced matched my company's own website to make sure I retain that customer because that person always knows someone who knows someone and the word of mouth is the best way to promote a company good or bad. I recommend bot shopping at this location or if you do make sure you don't go off of what it says online for the pricing. read more

I needed a new watch battery and the woman at the counter spent probably more than 20 minutes working on it. I did some shopping and found other things I needed, which was great. It was $7.50 plus the cost of the battery, which seemed very reasonable considering how long she had to work on it. Then I saw that they did glass replacement, and I had a frame in the car. I had broken the glass in it. The guy working in the back cut the glass and wrapped it up really quickly so I could get to an appointment. Very nice people and super helpful! read more

This hardware store has been a part of the Sebastopol community for over 30 years and has earned an amazing reputation for knowledge. Over the years I have done what many would say "why did you do that?" especially when it comes to fixing leaks and electrical issues. I would bring pieces of parts, strange drawings and collages of pictures to their knowledgable staff in order to be rescued. 100% success every time in walking me through the issue and provide the right solutions...The only exception is when I had the wrong measurements. One of the most impressive parts is one the staff does not have the answer instead of faking it they will call someone who is more knowledgable then they are. This is what I call the perfect small town hardware, where the customers satisfaction is why they are in business in the first place. Good to know their special once a month discount days as the first Saturday and special Wednesday seniors day. At times their prices may be higher then the large hardware stores but having the right support is well worth the difference. I was told sebastopol hardware had some nice work boots. I figured oh I'll support a local business and get my nice new pair of work boots from them. My fault I should've tried oomph a smaller size. I wore the boots standing out side for a few minutes realizing they're too big. I come back within an hour put to exchange them for a smaller pair to be told that there policy because I wore them outside of the store they can't exchange them!? Wouldn't think that's the kind of service I deserve when I decide to spend 200$ on a new pair of boots. Absolutely upset about this.
