Food was great! Truly delicious food and very good quality. Downside is that the service truly isn't great. Took a very long time to get help, and our soup and salas for our lunch special was forgotten. If you're willing to wait to be helped, the food is amazing!! Meng's was one of our favorite places for both sushi and hot food, but I am sad to say that the family who was running it is no longer there. The new management kept the menu but their execution of it is poor. Tonight was their last chance, and from the weirdly sour crab rangoon to the beef-with-noodles that wasn't the pad see you we ordered but also not recognizably anything else, and the crazy maki that was missing about half the ingredients ... the food was barely adequate. We live in southern Vermont and went to North Adams for a Mothers Day day trip. The day was kind of impulsive and we made no lunch reservations. After trying three other restaurants, we ended up on deciding to get take out here and doing a picnic as a last resort - and I'm so glad we did! We got a ton of dishes and EVERYTHING was fantastic. It was very non-greasy for Chinese food and the ingredients were shockingly fresh. We're used to the Chinese food options from Bennington, which, the least said about it the better. I've been a customer for well over a decade so multiply this review by 100Xs! Before CV19 locked us out of "dining in" this restaurant always provided a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The food was always well prepared, economically priced and the service was "spot-on"! The entire staff was always professional and friendly and I ALWAYS made it a point to travel here at least once or twice a month from Southern Vermont. Now, I get there far less frequently because "take-out ONLY" is all that's available. Same wonderful people, same lovely environment, but we can't sit down together and dine-in, which is a loss to the entire community. Still, the food, service and pricing remains superb and we exchange our greetings, smiles, and unspoken regrets every time we come and go so quickly. It is my sincere hopes that they open up the dining room and, until then, there are enough of us frequenting this wonderful establishment to keep them flourishing through these difficult times. read more

Located in downtown North Adams (the entire downtown is worth a stroll - they had awesome ice sculptures when we visited), Mengs offers a variety of Asian cuisine. We went on a Saturday evening and it actually filled up pretty fast. The decor is cool with lots to look at. You can see the sushi being made right at the counter. The menu is vast. Lots of different Asian foods. Service was not that great though. One woman seemed to be serving the entire restaurant and she couldn't help with menu questions or drink requests. In fact, we tried to order the drink special (which was on the board) and she first claimed to have never heard of it and then said the person who does the deliveries was the only one that could make it and she'd get it to us when that person returned. Needless to say we never saw that drink. In fact, it was a bit annoying to never see her again. We never got asked if our food was okay nor did we get water refills. The food was okay. My dining partner got the duck and loved it. I went with chicken pad Thai and the chicken just wasn't very good. The overall noodle dish was good and very heavy on the lemon but something didn't seem very tasty with the chicken. I didn't get sick or anything so probably just how they made it. Prices were a bit high for the quality and service. I likely wouldn't return and would try other restaurants in the area if I was looking for dinner next time. read more

I've tried this place several times so I can give a honest review. The food here is pretty bland. The rice, Hunan chicken, even the Pad See tasted just like the lo mein. If would say if you're in a tight bind, budget minded then this place is good. But if you are looking for flavor you will be disappointed! read more

Every time we visit Mass MoCA we stop by Mengs for very reasonably priced, delicious lunch for best lunch deals of many selections from Chinese, Korean, Japanese and Tai food. The staff is very courteous and the restaurant is clean but I do wish they also provide free WiFi access. read more

I get takeout from here regularly, particularly in bulk from their catering menu (which is very reasonably priced, and they accept same-day orders). The pan-fried dumplings are soooo good. Thick dough, juicy, and handmade. The lunch bento boxes are a really good deal, but I was disappointed that my roll was covered in sauce (to me, this tends indicates trying to mask low-quality ingredients). We're visiting North Adams from NYC and literally every place we tried to go to (places that are known for their late-night food) stopped serving food at 9:20pm as there was a snowstorm the night before. Just when we gave up hope that we might go hungry for dinner we saw an "Open" side at Mengs. We were worried they were done serving but when we walked in they greeted us nicely (as opposed to other places) and said that they would serve us. Portions were generous (we got egg rolls, soup, chicken with vegetables, etc.) The food is delicious and the service was pleasant. We really felt welcome and appreciate their restaurant. Disappointing. It's takeout only due to COVID. That's okay. I got pork mu shu and chicken lo mein. Both dishes 've had many times before at many different restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount pf meat in the dishes. But the vegetables were over cooked and did not balance the rest, The result was not to my taste. Once again I find myself very disappointed by a local business that should know better. I have been coming to Mengs for a number of years. I was really disappointed this time however by the fact that, number they seemed to have lost my order. When I arrived I introduced myself and they said it will be a couple more minutes. A couple more minutes turned into 25 minutes. However, far more disconcerting, and the primary reason I am writing this is the fact that while I was waiting, I watched the kitchen door open multiple times. Unfortunately there was at least two people in the kitchen without masks. In this pandemic environment, you would think a little common sense would go a long way. Unfortunately, it seems like common sense has been infected and died of coronavirus. I seriously hope Mengs gets their stuff together. Because I like them and it's a family owned business. I would hate to see them fail, however, I would hate to see myself get sick because they don't follow the rules of good hygiene. I will not be back anytime soon. read more

I visited this restaurant with my grandmother on Veterans Day. The music was a nice mix and quiet enough for chitchat. This place is one of our favorite places for take-out in North Berkshire Co. They've remained open for take-out through COVID and they are apparently staying busy as there were many people picking up food when I arrived. The quality of their food has always been top notch and rivals that found in big cities. Their Hunan-style dishes don't disappoint, but their bento boxes and sushi is the best in the area. Know that the order times are longer due to take-out only and COVID but that's no reason to give them a negative review. They are very clear when you order about the wait times. read more

I have eaten Sushi / Japanese / Chinese / Korean/ Thai all over our country. From San Diego to Tampa to New York City. I have found this restaurant to be a treasure hidden away in of places North Adams MA. The Sushi is presented elegantly, it's quality fish. The other Asian Fare is all well prepared too. My wife and i order from here 2- 4 times a week. My Daughter's love their food as well. When we want to dine out they have remodeled and improved the ambience immeasurably. The staff are pleasant and courteous, which sometimes is lacking in this area. Love their food in fact we just ordered more! read more
