They also have a few izakaya options perfect for sharing. * Black Tonkotsu $18 - The Little Guy got this and slurped the whole thing up, even the wood ear mushrooms which he usually leaves behind. He actually asked to return the next day because he loved it so much and just loved it. 5/5 * Menya Special $16.50 - I got this one and it was fine. Although I think I was a bit jealous as the Black Tonkotsu looked like it had different kind of noodles. Overall, this place was good. We wanted to try several of their dishes, to get a better opinion on their selections. The crab croquettes and shrimp tempura was delicious, and very filling. We didn't like the chicken Karage or Tako yaki. The Karage was a bit bland and the Tako yaki had a small piece of squid in it. We though we were going to get a little more than that. The ramen's broth was spicy but I couldn't really taste anything other than that. The meat in the ramen was really good but that's about it. I wished I ordered the tonkatsu instead. The restaurant was very clean but there is a smell to it. It went away on e we got our food but quickly came back when we finished. The bathrooms are secure and clean. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. For its location, it's a good spot to drop on by and grab some food. Oh my goodness! My veggie ramen with fried tofu... no words! Piping hot, healing, refreshing. I walked out of Menya feeling energized & replenished! Just knowing we have cold days ahead, I will be going out of my way to come back for this soup! Many times. Service was wonderful and very tentative! I tend to drink a lot of water & was never left wanting more. For a veggie soup, this was very creamy and felt indulgent for all of my *treat yourself* friends! Menya is a favorite of mine. The menu offers a nice a variety of foods, including raw fish, cooked items, ramen, udon, etc. They offer hot and cold sake and some other adult beverages, as well. The agedashi tofu is a dish I really enjoy here, it's a nice starting point for your meal. Even though it's tofu, it is actually really flavorful. The broth is rich and dark and it's topped with bonito flakes and seaweed to give it that extra flavor kick. I don't recall having the ramen here, yet. But one of these days. I love coming here after class because it is a quick walk if I'm ever craving noodles. It is located on 16th street and because the weather was super nice today me and my friend decided to sit outdoors. I usually get the udon because it's nice and light and typically hits the spot. It's definitely not my favorite spot to get ramen or noodles but it is definitely good for what it is and the location is super convenient. Service was cordial and prompt, food came out really quick, almost felt like they knew what I was going to order. I liked my black garlic ramen but it felt like it could use more spice. For a place to be this expensive I would have hoped the food would at least be delicious but it wasn't. We paid $80 for 2 ramen bowls, 1 appetizer and 2 sodas. Not worth it. Despite the construction continuing on the 16th St mall, this place is still open and thriving. Got there at 7 on a Monday night and the place was full! They have had to cut labor costs to continue operating and unbelievably there was only one waitress. She was INCREDIBLE. Moved calmly and gracefully through the whole place, took care of every tackle as well as to go orders and manning the phone and bussing all her tables. She deserved all the money!
