I came here Saturday night to try this place out. The grocery store was pretty empty and I wasn't sure if I was in the right place. I found the restaurant in the back and service was ok. I ordered the Torta Cubana. It was nothing like a cuban sandwich. It was egg, hotdog, and avacado with beans. The sandwich tasted good and was bigger than I expected but not what I wanted. The reviews were accurate & appreciated. Mercado Acapulco gave me a bodega vibe due to its location in the rear of a Hispanic grocery store. There was seating in the back to eat, but opted to take mine home as I lived within proximity of the location. Ordering was a bit of a challenge despite my knowledge of Spanish, but with photos we were able to get me the items I needed. I settled on two vegetable tacos and was pleased with them. The flavors were good and had a healthy piece of avocado in each. The payment process was also easy to navigate - place order in the back and bring receipt to front register to pay. This allowed time to walk around the store and see the unique items for sale. read more

MY FAVORITE! Of all of the taquerias I have tried lately this one was above and beyond amazing! You may pull up and be hesitant to go inside based on the outside but just go in. I promise it is delicious and worth it. Also love that it's in a little super market, if you are looking for any imported goods and Mexican snacks, you'll find them here! ***LOCATION*** Definition of hole in the wall haha only a couple of parking spots but I don't think it gets crowded. The taqueria is in the back of the convenience store. ***ATMOSPHERE*** You walk in and there's a lot going on. There's some kind of phone company or tax service or something on the right. I can't remember but it was a little counter. On the left there is the cash register for the super market. If you walk straight to the back there is the restaurant. They do have a couple tables, and some people were eating there with normal dishes. I think most orders are taken to-go. There are stairs in the back that lead to a hair salon. They for real have it all in one place haha. I feel like the taqueria is truly a hidden gem! I enjoyed looking around and the sweets and things they had at the market. They even have a full meat/seafood butcher section. ***FOOD*** The real reason you are reading. The tacos were phenomenal. I LOVE that they had veggie tacos because most places don't, which is normal, I feel like that is not so much a thing but I love that they had the option. My sister was with me and she is vegetarian and I am mainly vegetarian but will eat chicken if there aren't other options. So we were glad to have these! We loved that they were stuffed as well! It wasn't just onion and cilantro, they filled them with cascade and lettuce and pico. We were also surprised but the side of rice and beans was huge! We ordered that to share and it was so much! And it was like half the price of what we were expecting based on the menu. We originally thought we'd have to get each side separately but I think she made it some kind of combo. The salsa was good and spicy and we love that! ***STAFF*** Super nice! They mainly spoke Spanish but we were able to order. She was super friendly in the back and the younger girl in the front was as well! You do have to pay in the front with your ticket then come back to the back to pick up the food. It was Taco THURSDAY (because how come we can only eat tacos on Tuesdays?!) and we decided to venture somewhere new for tacos. Mercado Acapulco Taqueria is tucked inside an unassuming supermarket on Cheshire Bridge. You place your order in the back next to the butchers counter, where it's a little dark. We ordered enchiladas with rice with refried beans and a plate of tacos. Surprisingly, everything tasted really fresh and tasty. It took about 15 minutes to get our food, which felt like the longest 15 minutes as we sipped on horchata and watched the few others around us eating their food. Sauces are available at the counter for you to use. Everything we got looked fresh and bright, particularly the greens that came on the tacos and the enchiladas. It wasn't the best food I've had but it hit the spot. It was the perfect chill and mostly quiet taco spot to grab food without the frills of chips and salsa or margaritas. If you're in the area, no need to head toward Buford Highway for tacos - Mercado Acapulco has got it for you! read more

So now you can eat at a meat market on Cheshire Bridge! What can be better than that? I tried it on Dec 2 2022, so prices are from that date. Tacos 3.29, enchiladas 10.99, burrito 8.49 quesadilla 8.49, tortas 8.49, chilaquiles 13.99. If you live in midtown no need to drive to Buford highway The tacos were ok. I had 3 and both that had chopped meat where rather overcooked in my opinion. They had a crunch to them.You enter this little convenience store with a lot of unpriced stuff. You can be assured most is overpriced. They have a decent amount of meat and a vegetable cooler with overpriced veggies. I know, thats why is why it is called a convenience store by english speakers. However $2.75 for a small avocado, $4.00 for a small head of lettuce is a bit much. I pity the poor person that cant get to a better grocery. The kitchen is in the very back and you order there. There is a big long table more or less everyone sits at. They have 2 salsa bottles you can pass around to others at your table. You cant be shy here. Probably not a good choice to sit here during the next pandemic. Yes about as close as a grade school lunch table if not closer.Your food though comes in styrofoam containers so just carry it out if your shy. The kitchen gives you a little ticket and you pay at the register by the entry/exit. You can call ahead your order at 404 477 3202 if your in a rush or thats your thing. I give Mercado Acapulco 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. I was looking for a restaurant to get takeout tacos from on Tuesday (Cinco de Mayo) and found this place on Yelp. The reviews are, for the most part, accurate. This is yet another place I would've never gone to if it wasn't for Yelp. This past Tuesday was "Yelp's Great Taco Takeout" presented by Yelp OTP Community Manager Gretel Y: https://bit.ly/3ftlfGg. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in lieu of traditional in-person events, Yelp has been setting up takeout events (and other virtual events) to support local businesses. I think these events are a great idea. We each chose a local taco shop to support and I chose Mercado Acapulco based on its Yelp reviews. This was a nice find. It's a small Mexican market with butcher shop (carniceria) and taqueria. It's located in an old freestanding building directly across from the old Hong Kong Harbour restaurant (https://bit.ly/2SHqSag). This appears to be a humble, mom and pop shop. During my visit, it looked like the dad was the butcher and overall store manager, the mom was in the back kitchen cooking up food for the taqueria, and the daughter was at the front ringing up customers. The place isn't much to look at, but it's not atypical of a Mexican grocery. There's not a lot of parking on-site. I parked in front of the attached window tinting business because it looked closed. There's a sign on Mercado Acapulco's doors that warns you not to park in front of the gray building next door or you will be booted ($125 to get the boot off). The front of the house has about four aisles stocked with a limited selection of packaged food products, household goods, refrigerated/frozen foods, herbs and spices, tortillas, and more. The middle of the house has a section with fresh produce and the meat counter. The back of the house is where the taqueria can be found. The carniceria and taqueria have seating for about 25-30 customers. It doesn't look like they're allowing dine-in at this time due to the ongoing pandemic. The setup is super simple and many wouldn't think this is a taqueria if they didn't know to look for it. They have a table pulled out to place the aqua frescas machine. It looked like they had tamarindo (tamarind), limonada (lemonade), and jamaica (hibiscus) mixing. $1.99 for a small drink, $2.99 for a large. They also have horchata on the menu. Along with the agua frescas, they have a self-serve fridge with Coke products and a variety of Mexican drink brands including Jarritos and Jumex. Another table holds the self-serve "salsa bar", salt and pepper, straws, a bottle opener, container lids, the TV remote, a tip jar, and menus. The salsa bar consisted of 2-3 salsas, two red and one green, both in squeeze bottles and in bowls with spoons. I think the two red salsas may have been the same thing. The red salsa was very spicy. If you like legit spicy food, I recommend it. It brings the heat. The green salsa was OK. Not bad. The menu features $1.99 tacos (eight meat options and one veggie option), $7.50 burritos and tortas (four kinds of tortas), $8.99 enchiladas, $6.99 quesadillas, and $9.99-11.99 entrees like flautas and mojarra frita (fried whole mojarra fish). Like other Mexican restaurants, they also offer menudo ($9.99), a soup made with beef tripe and vegetables, on the weekends. I ended up ordering 10 tacos for my fiancee and me: * 1 pollo (chicken) - $2.00 * 3 chorizo (pork sausage) - $2.00 each * 2 asada (steak) - $2.00 each * 2 pastor (spit-grilled pork) - $2.00 each * 2 lengua (cow tongue) - $2.50 each * 1 campechano (chorizo and asada mix) - $2.50 The older lady working the taqueria kindly wrote down my order (there was a bit of a language barrier, but nothing too bad) and went to work immediately, cooking up the taco meats and tortillas on the flat top griddle. She prepared the tacos and packaged them in white foam boxes in the order in which she wrote them on the ticket. She was working all by herself. My order was ready in about 10 minutes. Normally, chorizo is my favorite taco meat, but here, the asada and lengua were the standouts. They were truly delicious. Both the asada and lengua were tender and flavorful. The chorizo and pastor, on the other hand, weren't as tender and moist as I would've liked. The pastor was the most disappointing to me, but it wasn't bad, just mediocre quality. For the price paid, I can't complain much. The pollo was different than I expected. The small, chopped pieces of chicken had a bit of crispiness to them which was nice and appetizing. All of the tacos were generously portioned and served on dual layer corn tortillas with onion, cilantro, and lime. I particularly asked about limes and she made sure to pack a lot for me. She also packed me plenty of salsa to go. I appreciated it. Like a mom packing food for a son. I took my bag of boxed tacos with ticket and paid at the front counter. It's a small place at the far end of a small dingy market. There's a couple of booths next to to wall and a set of tables butted-up against each other like an Oktober fest setting. The food was difficult to order and it took more than 20 minutes for a soup and 2 tacos. We ordered a taco al pastor, a taco de chorizo, and the soup was menudo. The tortillas used for the tacos were stale and hard to chew, and the pork meat was fatty and tasteless; the chorizo meat was just ok. The staff is not entirely friendly, but quick to point out the tip jar on the counter. I don't recommend this place at all. read more

These tacos are legit! My girlfriend has lived in buckhead for the better part of a year, and Cheshire bridge road is maybe a 5 minute drive away from her place. That it took us almost a year to find a place right under our nose that has tacos this good is ridiculous, but i'm glad we found it! The Mercado Acapulco Y Taqueria meat market and grocery store is a very small shop that serves up tacos in the rear right corner of the shop. There are a few tables here where you can eat, but i'm going to keep emphasizing small here. Walk on back, have a seat and they'll take your orders. It's not exclusively a spanish only environment, but you find more people who speak spanish than English. The menu is in both English and spanish though so if you don't speak a lick of spanish, you'll be good. We ordered the following: Campechano ($2) Barbacoa ($2) Lengua ($2.50) 2 sodas (2 x $2) The tacos here were fresh, all bursting with flavor, and were some of the best tacos i've had in a long time. They bring salsa and hot sauce out to you, both are hot but really do add to the flavor. My favorite was the Campechano, which is a mix of steak and chorizo. The barbacoa is also quite delicious, and even though I don't care for lengua, this one made a strong case to try it again! All of the meats we tried were tender, not tough, and again, flavorful. Can't say more about it! Parking here is limited, in a small parking lot. The exterior doesn't look as inviting as some would like, but I kinda hope that keeps many from finding this gem. This is an active grocery store and meat market, so you can also shop after you eat. Don't allow appearance to deter you. This market may not look the fanciest but there is a tasty meal waiting for you in the back of the store. Everything is authentic here. All of the food is made to order. I ordered 4 tacos and they weren't expensive at all. The nice woman prepared them fairly quickly too. As far as taste goes, I felt that they were delicious. They load up your tacos with tons of onions and cilantro which gives each bite a tasty crunch. I found that the salsa picante was but seemed more hot than flavorful. Next time I'd probably stick with the salsa verde and hope that it adds another element to the tacos. read more

Sure, unless you're a native speaker, you might not enjoy that, but it's a great way to laugh at yourself. I need that. You probably do too. 2. The food is very reasonably priced. Tacos are $1.50 each. Where are you going to find something better for that price? Nowhere. 3. The menu is simple, but incredible. There are only a few options to choose from, but you really can't go wrong. As long as you know a few Spanish phrases you'll land on a pretty solid lunch. Don't forget to get a coke! Authentic tacos mean fresh flavorful meats on top of warm tortilla (usually 2 layers to make it easier to hold the meat and grab) and topped with fresh cilantro, onion, and lime wedges on the side (lots of time with fresh reddish, too). For those who thought their tacos were dry, please go back to Taqueria Del Sol and have their Americanized tacos (which I also like, but let's be real about what they really are... compared to real authentic Mexican street taco). Atlanta has so many great restaurants but I was surprised that it has been hard to find great tacos. There are plenty of good tacos in the area but nothing that blew my socks off. We were told several times that right by our house was Mercado Acapulco. It is first and foremost a mercardo, or market but in the back there is a lady who is there to help you with your orders. She is a one woman show here taking your order and preparing your meal. It helps that you speak Spanish because, well, she speaks Spanish but I guess you could get away with pointing and showing how many fingers of tacos you want. Place your order there and then pay upfront where you pay for your groceries. As you're waiting, you'll probably browse around at the specialty foods available. They have a butcher as well that have some cuts of meat that you can't find elsewhere. They also have a small section of fresh produce and when we went they had a lot of pineapple and plantains. They also had tomatoes, onions and more. Most of the people here preferentially would speak Spanish but if you're just coming in to buy things, you don't need Spanish at all. They take cash or credit cards. Now the tacos here are prepared after you order. At this point you've placed your order and are now waiting for it to get down. Choose between the red sauce or the green (both are spicy in my opinion but my tolerance for spice has really decreased recently). I felt that the chicken taco was a little dry but the beef was awesome. They are smaller tacos so about 4 would have been a perfect amount. Just came by here to pick up some (real) tacos for dinner. It's a smaller carneceria and the taqueria was all the way in the back (you just sit down to get service there is no order window) but the chef was super sweet and helpful. We got carne asada tacos and they were better than other ones I've had in the city. Well seasoned with crispy edges on the meat. The typical accoutrements like onion/cilantro and hot sauce. If you like authentic flavors at amazing prices then get your butt on over here. I got 3 tacos (thinking about getting another as I'm writing this) - pastor, Carne asada, and carnitas. Pastor was my favorite but all were v tasty! A lot of the regulars came in for the lunch platters (stewed meat, rice and beans) and they looked very good and hearty. Abuela running the ship was very sweet and accommodating as well. Given tacos are like $1.50 each I did just order a barbacoa one. Someone recommended I get the Mundet apple soda and it was really light and refreshing, not too sweet. May come again tomorrow for lunch also, red hot sauce is spicier than green. read more

The food is great in the back but just be aware they have raised the prices on some items and it's not reflected on the menu and the cashier will not help you out. I understand restaurants need to make up money from the COVID 19 disaster but they should at least update the menu and not hope you don't guess the price difference. Having moved here from Los Angeles just 9 months ago, I have been on the hunt for legit tacos... along comes Mercado Acapulco, and my favorite type of spot - no significant signage/branding on the front, grocery, butcher, and TACOS! I almost felt like I had just been transported back to Echo Park to the corner spot! I took my tacos to go, and after first bites (one from each taco - carne, pollo, y carnitas) I wanted to drive back and give the woman who made them a hug! Homemade shells and made perfectly simple. Great authentic taqueria located in the rear of an unassuming Mexican grocery store. When I walked in, the woman manning the kitchen pointed to the sign telling the varieties of tacos they offer, and I ordered. The chorizo taco was delicious and definitely one of the best I have tried in the city. The asada, while not amazing, was tender enough and quite flavorful. The carnitas taco was great- a little fatty but almost perfect. I also recommend the homemade green salsa as it serves as a perfect accompaniment to the tacos. Overall, the taco eating experience is among the best I've had in Atlanta, and this easy-to-overlook gem on Cheshire Bridge deserves to be in the conversation for best tacos. read more
