    Veggie sandwich with bacon
    Anabel U.

I was hopeful for this cafe l, but soon let down upon ordering. I ordered a veggie sandwich and added bacon l, but the portion and flavor for the price weren't worth it. I felt like I was waiting close to 20 minutes for the sandwich and the size was not what I was expecting. They do have a variety of other items on their menu that hopefully can compensate for it. The pastries they had in the front case did look good but I wasn't able to try one. Unfortunately if I'm back in the area I would probably skip out on trying them again.

I'm not sure why this place does not have many reviews nor good reviews, because this place had some of the best dishes I've had in a really long time! I enjoyed the simplicity of the dishes with the perfect seasoning. My boyfriend and I were very hungry in the morning and ended up ordering 4 dishes between the two of us. We ordered the Omlette, beef stew, breakfast bowl, and the avocado toast. Every single dish was amazing. My boyfriend who usually can't finish a dish managed to wipe his plate clean! The omelette is probably the best I've eaten and the grilled veggies were a beautiful accompaniment. The rice bowl has crispy bits of rice mixed with soft bits which made the dish a textural delight. Literally cannot say enough. I would be happy to make the trek out to Albuquerque again to have this meal!

Mercantile Cafe welcomes with beautifully curated ceramics and tableware plus tasty healthful food with kindly and knowledgable staff. :) Special thanks to Connie Carpenter for her generous customer service when we picked out an artisanal bowl to commemorate the day of my mother's memorial. Thank you for making us feel like family on one of our hardest days. Kindness matters. :) Blessings on this business. :)

This was the only place open in sawmill market open for food for breakfast. They have the usual American fare and I tried the veggie quiche. It was served with the salad. The quiche took a while to be prepared and took about 15 minutes. It's served with a small side salad. Overall good breakfast for the limited options at saw mill market early in mornign

They have us ham! After telling them to please be careful and not get any meat in our burrito. Look, we messed up the first order because we didn't see the ham as part of the ingredients. Has happened before, our mistake, so we pay again for a re-do but this time ask to not include any meat. Well to our surprise the first half was the only one without meat, ham in this case. So with our guard down we took a bite into the second half of the burrito...ham!. Sad that this had to be a rand and not a complete review. But you can have good food but when the service is this bad it takes all away. Hopefully you can enjoy this place since the ambiance is good and the place looks nice. The server didn't seem to like that I had to order again even though I never asked for a refund or anything. Paid again since it was my mistake at first.

The saddest avocado toast there ever was $14
    Holly L.

The absolute saddest avocado toast there ever was. $14 is highway robbery for two slices of toast with a tiny bit of avocado that's partially spoiled. Calling this avocado toast is insulting. Lol

I was looking for a small type of dessert while browsing at the sawmill market. I came to mercantile cafe since the staff seemed super friendly and smiling from far away. Customers feel welcome when they are greeted with a smile. The lady at the back of the counter was very polite and helpful. We decided to go with the lemon meringue and the açaí dessert. I would say that my favorite one was the lemon meringue. The açaí dessert was neatly presented in its container but the flavors and taste was off. I do occasionally my own açaí desserts at home and I would say that this açaí dessert was below average. I don't finish the açaí dessert and it's rare when I don't eat my desserts. They seemed to have other menu items and a wide variety of sandwich options. The place was welcoming and felt like a San which deli. I will be returning for the lemon meringue dessert due to its creamy texture and richness in lemon flavor.

    Chia seed pudding

This review is solely based off their chia seed pudding. It was just ok - I'm not sure how well the lemon curd went with the pudding. There also could have been more fresh fruit...there were only 4 blueberries on it!

When I tried checking in, Yelp didn't have this listing, so let's get this biz on the map and start things off with a quick thumbs-up. As I've grown up and grown boring, one of the things I've learned to listen to are the physiological signals my body sends me, particularly when I'm hungry. As I sat in line, today, debating what I wanted as a mid-morning bite to eat, my eyes drifted from the long list of omelets, burritos and baked goods and found themselves fixed on the prepared salads in the bakery case. The bright colors of one in particular, the Asiatic, held my gaze for a good twenty seconds and I thought, Hey, that's probably my body talkin'. And the more I thought about a bright dose of edamame, carrots, cabbage and cashews, doused in a sesame ginger dressing, the more compelled I felt. It was a delicious, enlightened treat, and I'm glad I took that flavor ride.

Avocado Toast - not nearly enough avocado in proportion to the massive amount of bread
    Lindsey Q.

While on a weekend getaway to Albuquerque, we heard about the Sawmill Market and we're excited to try out this new food hall. After making our rounds we decided on Mercantile Cafe (one of the select few markets that were actually open during breakfast hours). After placing our order we sat out in the yard and enjoyed the nice weather. When my boyfriend came with our dishes we could stop laughing at my avocado toast - on the plate was practically a whole loaf of bread! I mean it looked good visually, but trying to eat it was not fun. I ended up scraping all the toppings onto one slice of bread and that was STILL too much bread for the 1/4 avocado on the plate. Quality over quantity. On the other hand his breakfast sandwich was fantastic, so I'd suggest opting for that until they rework that avocado toast recipe.

Rating a low score for customer service. Cashier is not very friendly. No welcome greeting. They were not busy and food sat there a while. The location is super the chicken salad sandwich was decent once I got it. I don't recommend the cupcake. Was stale.

This place definitely falls into the first category. This morning I went with the single origin Guatemala drip, and it was exactly what a solid cup of coffee should be. Smooth, rich, and balanced with a nice chocolate note that hangs around just long enough to make you take another sip. No bitterness. No burnt taste. Just a clean, well-roasted cup that says someone here actually cares about the beans. The shop itself has a personality, which I always appreciate. It's decorated with fishing lures, fish artwork, and sculptures scattered around the place. Naturally this leads to the obvious conclusion: the owner is either an avid fisherman... or coffee roasting is just the side hustle between trout expeditions. Either way, the theme works. The space feels relaxed, creative, and comfortable. The kind of place where you can sit with a cup and not feel rushed out the door. And speaking of doors, while I was there there was a steady flow of customers coming in and out. That's usually the universal coffee signal for yep, this place is doing something right. Bottom line: Great coffee, cool atmosphere, and a shop with enough character to keep things interesting. I'll definitely be back for another cup of that Guatemala.

There is additional outside seating to the side and farther from the road too. I look forward to my next trip.

The food and coffee here aren't excellent. No question. Surprisingly strong spice level for an old town location, good range of New Mexican AND coffee shop menu options for breakfast and lunch. I had the enchiladas and added eggs and bacon, which is essentially Huevos Rancheros the way it is served in bowl form. Potatoes, beans, and chile flavors all complimented each other well, nice garnish and nice presentation. Had house coffee which is SOLID. The service style is counter ordering with a number, which for me is a great system. Negative - the coffee service with food is a bit confusing. Coffee comes in a paper cup for everyone apparently, which feels a bit sloppy. Mugs would be really nice. Also, because coffee is served with meal by table delivery, coffee takes a long time to get to the table. I personally like my coffee immediately and intravenously, so this was frustrating. The patio is lovely - the tables are weird. There are only large group tables, no small tables. BIGGEST Negative - parking. I looked at the social media, menu, website, and the parking problem is not addressed anywhere that I could easily find. The adjacent city lot is priced for tourists - $12 flat rate. Given that the numerous other breakfast options in the area have free and close parking, in our lamentably car-driven culture, Tiny Grocer is at a big disadvantage. I'm sure this is a recurring and difficult problem, and I would suggest blasting a solution on all social media, pinned posts, first line in bio, menu, everywhere. People could park on 18th st, 19th st, next to Tiguex park, and take a short walk to a lovely experience.
