We tried the Japanese eggplant and pea burrata dish to start followed by the lamb ragu pasta and peri peri chicken. Our favorites were the pasta and the eggplant. The other dishes were good as well, but nothing felt particularly special. The panna cotta was a nice way to finish the meal. Personally, I prefer a simpler panna cotta, and I felt this version had a bit too much going on, which kept the panna cotta itself from really shining. Service is great, from the person who made my reservation over the phone, server, to the person who took our jackets for the coat check! Everyone is welcoming and the vibe is great. We were here for their restaurant week 2026. The beet salad as a starter is amazing, and there are bursts of flavors in this dish. The roasted brussel sprout and turnip was drawning in a creamy sauce and I think if it had less sauce and some honey it would've been better. For main dish I ordered the short rib which had a decent sauce over the polenta. The fried lettuce was too salty. The sole was nice and light but lots of butter. The highlight was the yuzu olive cake which came with strawberries. It was moist, buttery, and so aromatic! I am deducting one star for the saltiness in some of the dishes, otherwise they would be five out of five. read more

We were shown to an oddly placed table in the walking path of the servers, beside the fire exit. As they sat us for our reservation, we were informed that we had an hour and a half to eat and then they needed the table back. I listened as others were sat in the room, and no other diners seemed to receive a time limit on dining. But there were never fewer than four empty tables, including when we left. No one was waiting for our table. The meal felt rushed, and the food itself was hit or miss. I would not have ordered the "bread service," had I known it comprised three Hawaiian rolls. But we hadn't had a chance to read the menu when we were asked if we wanted some bread while we choose our food. We ordered the octopus to start and enjoyed the dish (nice char on the outside, tender inside, and great accompaniments). However, the next course was delivered right as we started eating the octopus, and our tiny table became very crowded. From the Restaurant Week menu, the bowl of vegetables (turnips? brussel sprouts?) was tasty but a little sloppy. Unfortunately, the main, the sole, was far too salty. I did not eat more than a few bites, and the server never questioned why most of the dish, minus the salad, was uneaten. They quickly served the dessert (olive oil cake, which was okay) and the bill. The meal was disappointing overall, and I feel no need to return and try Mercantile outside of Restaurant Week. The rushed service and inconsistent food quality do not justify the prices. read more

We sat outside and had a provisions board which was a charcuterie board to start. Then got burgers and the salmon dish. Food was flavorful and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Service was attentive and quick but was not busy anyways so couldn't speak for when it would be busy. OK - W O W !!! I hopped off the A train at 8PM to find my husband at the bar having a delish drink. We moved the tab to a table and were greeted by a really sweet and extremely knowledgeable server who explained the dining process. We loved hearing that everything is served as shared plates which is our process too. We had some awesome bread while we decided on the rest. We then ordered the octopus, carbonara and asked for some assistance for the veggie. We agreed on the eggplant. Dishes were coursed with perfect timing and all came out almost too beautiful to eat. This place is in Central Park station so it's very easy to get to. Nice ambiance and I it's a Michelin Guide restaurant. The food is pretty good. We got the Co Fromage Cheese Dip which was very tasty. It came with 4 slices of bread and there was still so much cheese left after eating the 4 slices so we asked for more bread. Anyways my friend ordered the mercantile high five cocktail which was good but came in a very small glass. She also ordered the steak which was good but the sauce made it better. Didnt get to sit in the actual restaurant as they were busy this past Friday night and had no openings. But after some walking around Union Station and the surrounding streets, we were able to sit at their bar area and order some drinks. Its a little weird that in their "waiting" area where the bar is they have multiple small tables that are completely unused. Everyone is crammed around their bar area. They could definitely utilize this area to expand their dining room or at least bar area and serve more guests and at the end help their bottom line out. At the bar they had about 2 bartenders working. Which is fine and all but it was a busy Friday night. Probably about 30 ish people around the bar. They were busy to say the least. With people standing their waiting to order and then just walking away because it was taking too long. We were fortunate enough to snag a couple bar chairs and order some drinks. In about 1.5 hours we only had about 1 drinks each. Got the bar food menu but didn't have enough time to order our food before our reservation at Jax. The bartenders were stretched way too thin. Fortunately we had a nice view of the chefs table to help pass the time. The drinks were not that great. I had their banana drink. Which is a whiskey based drink. I was honestly looking forward to the banana flavors. Had zero hints of banana. It had no other flavor besides whiskey. There was no subtle flavors of anything besides whiskey. My wife had the sweetened cranberry drink. She liked hers. And yes hers was made way better. Really tasted the cranberry and subtle hints of sage and fig. My friend had a chai affagato from them. Took so long the espresso was already room temperature. Fortunately they comped it. Granted I didnt have the full experience that the Mercantile had to offer. It was date night and this was the place chosen. We were happy that they had 5:30 reservations available. If you're not familiar with the area, the restaurant can be a little hard to find, thankfully, the valley parking attendant guided us with no issues. We walked in and got greeted by two lovely ladies and got sat in our table. We then got welcomed by our server Nadya (she was fantastic! ). She shared with us the specials of the night, one of them was the drink special, I forgot what it was called, basically it was like an old fashion made with scotch and wooooowy it was delicious. I couldn't tell it was scotch. Nadya explained that the menu is meant to be shared so we ordered 3 vegetarian dishes and one meat (for the meat eater). We went with the bread service (YES!), fried autumn Brussels, charred cabbage, mushroom farroto, and lamb skewers. Everything was delicious and beautiful presentation. My favorite dish of all was the Brussels. We had an excellent time there and loved every bite of food. Thank you Nadya for making our visit pleasant. read more

I visited during lunch time on a weekday to take a customer out to lunch. As it was a business meal I was looking for a place where a conversation is possible, food is good, ambiance is nice, and service leaves nothing to desire. I am glad I landed on Mercantile. First off, the ambiance is perfect for a business meal. It's not too crowded or loud and it's nice and airy. There's also outside and inside seating. Food was great. I liked the 2 course lunch options a lot. I opted for the poke and strawberry salad. They were both very well-prepared and without it being heavy. The salad had just the right amount of dressing and the poke had great proportions. I highly recommend bringing your customer, or whoever, to Mercantile for a nice lunch. Came for a birthday dinner and it was a great experience. The server Alyse was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. She started the meal off right with sparkling wine for the birthday which was a very thoughtful touch. The cocktails were inventive and all of us tried the Sesame, which is Mercantiles take on a whiskey sour. It was well balanced with Woody Creek Rye, sesame (didn't take over flavor of cocktail) along with four other ingredients. It is served with a large cube and I find those to make bourbon drinks the best. We liked everything we ate. The bread service comes with three homemade rolls with soft and pillowy butter. The cabbage had a delicious slightly spicy crunch with mustard seeds and cooked to perfection. I tried beef cheeks which I can't recall that I've eaten before. They were very tender and served with foie gras which is always a delicacy. It also came with truffled polenta and dandelion greens. The dish is rich and filling. The only letdown was the dessert. The tiramisu had a major punch of some alcohol which was overbearing and unneeded in my opinion. The cream they use is divine but 3/4 of the dessert went uneaten. I'd recommend a description if veering away from a traditional take on this normally stellar dessert. If only the food matched the ambiance. The new decor of Mercantile is easy on the eyes, but unfortunately that's where the magic stops. The Gold Rush cocktail was solid, but the Sweet Potatoe was one of the more abrasive drinks I've had. I *love* Mezcal, but this was borderline gasoline. Sadly, the food followed suit. Easy on the eyes, poor on execution. The fry on the Oyster Hushpuppies was far too dark, the Octopus chewy, and the Scallop Ceviche beautifully played, but about one diver scallop (at most) -- for $32. The Bread Service was great, but again -- $8 for bread? Sheesh. Yes it's a great location, but the quality and portioning need some serious improvement for this new Mercantile to thrive. read more

This is easily one of the best restaurants in Denver. Located inside union station, there is both a cafe section as well as a beautiful dining area. The menu is new American with influences from various different cultures and changes seasonally. I tried a bunch of dishes and nothing was short of perfection. The standouts for me were the truffled gnocchi (they nailed the consistency of the gnocchi and use real truffles), the buffalo burrata (creamiest burrata I've ever had imported straight from champagne), the scallop ceviche (scallops are from hokkaido, Japan and their wild Monterey black cod ( the most buttery and flaky fish over a bed of farro) If you are lucky enough to have Andrew as your waiter, you will know every detail about every dish and impeccable service too! Our first meal in Denver soon after arriving in Denver was in Union Station at Mercantile. The manager John and our server Alex were really wonderful. They provided us with multiple hints and suggestions about where to go and how to take care of ourselves at the elevation. Our dinner started with the Strawberry Feta salad. This was such an interesting combination of flavors-the sweet strawberries with the (not too) salty feta and a delicious dressing/ The Morel mushrooms and Fava was also so delicious. The mushrooms are quick sauteed but to me they tasted marinated-there was so much flavor. And the texture was amazing. The Ricotta Anolotti was also excellent. The pasta was cooked al dente with a wonderful filling. The Black Cod was also excellent-very fresh with an excellent flavor and mild complemeting sauce. This is an excellent restaurant located in the Station. The Station is worth a visit just to see how well they've modernized an older building while keeping several features of the past. What a wonderful experience!!! We made a reservation for 7:30 pm on Friday. We got there early so decided to wait at the bar and grab a drink. They have a variety of nice cocktails and even none alcoholic ones. We got to have the octopus appetizer while waiting and it was so amazing, the octopus was grilled to perfection and the things that accompanied it were layered wonderfully, the roasted potatoes, the almond hummus and the basil sauce as well. Great start. Then our table was ready, we took three shareable dishes: the Buratta salad, the fusilli with clams and artichoke and the scallops. Everything was complex and delicious. I loved the play on colors, textures and flavors. There is a reason why this is in the Michelin guide. I would highly recommend this place. I'm so sad to write this because mercantile is my favorite restaurant in Denver but I went to brunch there today and the burger which is usually so good was so weird today: idk what is going on with that meat but me and my husband could not eat it. We "upgraded" to the Brunson burger and it tasted so off. It also felt like a frozen patty. Everything else was amazing as always. Really sad about this experience. read more

A good dining option located inside Union Station! It is located just past a busy corridor with the restrooms inside Union Station and it has a little marketplace area. There were plenty of options within the dining menu however I was not blown away by any of the items we got. It wasn't bad but it wasn't excellent. From the looks of the menu, I expected a bit more "wow". We started off with marinated olives that are seed in. These were tasty enough but we found it a bit odd maneuvering how to spit out the seeds politely. Next up was the asparagus and burrata. I saw this delivered to many tables and it was fine. We also got the ricotta gnocchi and the pork belly. Both dishes were pretty good. Overall, I would say our experience here was ok. The food was fresh but nothing mind blowing. read more

It is okay. The food quality is good, but I think for the price I am paying, I would expect a bit more (in either quality OR quantity). Starting with the bar menu: The cocktails are tasty, but they run on the sweeter side. I ordered the Jasmine-Yuzu Sour, and I think the sweetness complimented the drink well, but I wish that the yuzu flavor shone a bit more. Where I wish there was minimal sweetness was the Mercantile Highball, where I would have expected a more traditional soda water + whiskey. Generally speaking, the ingredients on the drinks are very appealing, but I did not expect this level of sweetness. Everything that my group had ordered was shared family-style as per the restaurant's recommendation. I really enjoyed the grilled octopus, pappardelle, and oysters. The bone marrow toast was a snack I had highly anticipated but was surprised to see that this was more of a bone marrow-infused butter (butter-forward) on toast as opposed to bone marrow alone; this is as written on the menu ("marrow butter"), so perhaps this was my mistake in misunderstanding what the dish was. We also ordered the tuna tartare, maple leaf duck, gnocchi, and icelandic cod which were good, but not incredible. Overall, I love the restaurant's concept. I would return to this restaurant if requested, but I would not be eager to showcase this restaurant to visiting friends. read more

Nice refreshed space on the east end of Union Station. They removed a portion of tables just next to the inside entrance from the central hall of Union Station and replaced the tables with small Cafe style tables and padded seats to orient that section for the Cafe. The primary dining area is farther back. New colors and lights with new sound deafening panels. But I learned that Eric Seidel is no longer involved. He sold the restaurant to Sage Hospitality late in 2024 who operates several other locations incuding Milk Market. Thr drinks menu has quite a few choices, so I asked for a Beet NA beverage made with beet juice, cucumber, mint and aquafaba (a substitute for egg whites) to pair with my first food item. The food menu is large with 4 sections for each food type. I chose a creative presentation of Spiced Carrots from the Earth (vegetables) section. I added bread service which was 3 sweet Fudmill Hawaiian rolls. But the Beet drink showed up while finishing the carrot dish. I then ordered a Rosemary flavored cocktail with Haykin Family Cider, apple brandy, Campari and bitters. This drink was also delayed. My 2nd choice was Carbonara with pork belly on a sauce base of Littleneck clams from the Grains (pasta) section. I added a glass of Nicosia Nerello from Sicily. But the service from the bar interrupted the flow of dinner. My cocktail and the wine both arrived before my pasta dish. The pasta was wonderful (they provided a spoon for the sauce). I skipped the Sea (fish) and Pasture (meat) sections. I commented to the general manager, John Martinez. He said they were still working on the service issue despite being open just over 4 weeks. I waited a bit, then ordered the Lemon & Lavender Panna Cotta. I got my table number and went to the bar to get a neat pour of Rhine Hall Plum Brandy. My dessert was also delayed. The Panna Cotta is a chilled dessert, so little time is needed to prepare it. So the kitchen and bar staff are out of sync. read more

Service was exceptional Food was great ( a tad spendy ....but hey when an old men spends 7 trillion dollars on rubbish....everything goes up right?) I saw this on a list of places to try in Denver and I have to say it did not disappoint. We didn't have a reservation but were able to snag two stools at the bar. The restaurant was bright and airy and I loved that you could watch what was going on in the kitchen from the bar. The burrata and beet salad were both refreshing and unique. The pork belly was crispy but melted in your mouth at the same time. Definitely worth the walk from our hotel to Union Station. read more

I stopped in for some lunch and happy hour food with a friend this week. I'm sorry to say that the food was only okay, not great. My friend had a salad and I had a crab slider and fries. The service was decent, and the ambiance was nice. What really surprised me were the two surcharges on the bill. There was a 3% surcharge labeled USHPF - no idea what that's about, and a 20% (TWENTY PERCENT) surcharge for Operations. Yikes! Seriously? I don't mind a 'back of the house' surcharge, but I think 5% is realistic. I won't be going back - between the prices and the surcharges (see attached picture), I think the place is way overpriced.
