Went there today after almost a year! My wife wanted a a cup of coffee since it helps her migraine. The place is so tastefully done. There was live music at lunch-time. Now they have a menu of sandwiches. The coffee roasting room is worth checking. They have beans from all over the world. Owners are warm & friendly. There's plenty of cookies & cakes. A really great place to unwind. Coffee chain-restaurants cannot even come close to this place's quality & personal attention. read more

This coffee shop is great! I have been coming here since they opened and I wouldn't want to go elsewhere. The staff, service, atmosphere, food and of course coffee are AWESOME! The owner is a local who you can find mingling with the patrons throughout the shop! He is very nice and personable. Being a local myself, It is always nice coming to the shop and see others that have been around this area for generations!! Woohoo! As good as it gets is absolutely right on! Best espresso that I have ever tasted. Fresh roasted coffee in many different varieties! You can smell the beans roasting all the way down 41! It's like when you find your favorite wine only it's coffee! The whole crew is awesome! Wayne, Valerie and Amy are easy to talk to and fun to be around! The atmosphere is inviting featuring great music, free wi-fi, all in a clean and comfortable environment! Easy to get to, just off of HWY 41N and maybe you will be lucky enough to pass over the 41 Bridge and catch a glance at beautiful Charlotte Harbor! Best homemade potato salad and yummy creative sandwiches. A group of us ladies frequently go for lunch after our quilt guild meeting on Fridays. However, they deleted Green Grilled Cheese from the menu and we found out last week they deleted the potato salad, previously a choice for sandwich accompaniment. Now the only choice is potato chips....come on, anyone can do chips. At over $10 with tax, that's a pricey sandwich! I will go somewhere else. read more

Rebecca Higgins Mayhew I moved to Port Charlotte from Naples about seven months ago, and freaked as I am a coffee addict as I could not find any Starbucks except at mall, Target and across town in the the King's Hwy Area. One day while driving, I spotted Mercer's and almost drove over the medium. No way, a coffee shop in Port Charlotte, I later learned it is Charlotte Harbor. I met the owner Wayne, who is one of the nicest men and is a like a trivia expert and ordered my first iced coffee and this was before they got the Big Kahuna roaster into the shop. That was a story itself. But persist he and Val did who is also one of nicest people you feel like you are having coffee in their living room. At my first sip, I found it to be the best and smoothest coffee I have ever drank and I consider myself a coffee connoisseur. With the new roaster, I didn't think it possible but it is even better. I tell all my friends, Mercer's is the best coffee in SW FL and I would venture to say FL. They also have a very knowledgeable and friendly staff, Holly and Amy. I went to the same Starbucks in Naples for three years and they did not know my name or my favorite drink. When I walk into Mercer's I feel like I am walking into Cheers, everyone knows my name and my favorite drink. Wayne is almost a genius when it comes to coffee beans and the flavor they will produce once roasted. They also have an incentive card that if you buy 10 or it may be 12 coffees you get one free - any type and I fill up my card fast. To the woman who complained about the plastic frothing container I am quite sure Wayne had one but some people are just never happy and need something to complain about no matter what - you never mentioned "how was the coffee drink"? I am hoping that one day they will franchise and of course I will be their marketing director. read more

I was staying in the Punta Gorda area for a week and went looking for a place with good coffee and free wifi. Stumbled across Mercer's via Yelp and figured I'd give it a shot. The people working were extremely nice, the Americano I ordered left Me yearning for it for the next three days until I made it back for another one. If you're in the Port Charlotte area, there isn't a better place to get coffee and some good pastries. read more

As the owner so politely told me via Facebook message I don't know my a** from a hole in the ground when it comes to good coffee" I have been here twice, the coffee was terrible and the girl burnt the milk, the coffee was bitter and over extracted. Accept responsibility, offer an apology, try to make it right... That is how you run a business, not finding someone on Facebook and acting like a child because you don't like their review! I would have considered coming back, however after this display of immaturity and terrible customer service I will never come back and will go out of my way to tell people my story! read more

Stopped here as we had a hard time finding good coffee between Gasparilla and Punta Gorda. With our group we had americanos, breve, and a mocha. All incredible. Best breve i have had in a long long time. Silky smooth cream, perfectly balanced espresso. Love it. read more
