Had a pair of Gucci platform sandals that the strap needed to be tightened, dropped them off, picked them up wore them to a baby shower 2 days later and within 45mins of wearing they came apart. I had to walk around barefoot. Ended up buying shoe glue off Amazon to repair them because they wanted me to pay $25 more to reglue them. disregard all other reviews. this owners craftsmanship is straight trash. i brought a pair of work boots in to get the bottom soles reattached wit cement. First, he gives me a date to pick up and i informed him that i probably won't come that day, i would return next saturday. so i return back and i waited for the place to open up. Never happened. I just complied the $7ea. total $14 & gave me a ticket I went in with the ticket to pick up my shoes and he said it didn't match ticket on my shoes. He didn't know where the shoes were. Then I pointed them out then he said well I'm still not gonna give you the shoes because the ticket didn't match. this is the ticket he gave me I told him which clearly said $14. I had him fix the heel tips.. I lost my ticket, and he was not friendly to me picking them up without the ticket. He called me again- years later to pick up the Salem pair of shoes, this time I sent my boyfriend (brocade he was mean to me). He refused to give him my heela that I paid for years ago. Brocade he didn't have the ticket. I'm a single mom and work long hours. I haven't picked them up because I lost the ticket and the hours of operation. You would think he would at least called me to ask if my boyfriend could take them. Instead he was rude to him and would not let him take my shoes. He says he has rules... and I get that. I called hoping to get a price quote. The man who answered the phone failed to introduce himself. When I asked for his name, he replied "Why?" I told him that I wanted a price quote on shoe repair, and that I would like to know who I am speaking with. He refused to state his name, and told me to never call again. Realizing I was dealing with an unstable individual, I quickly hung up. This guy, and I shit you not, calls me back, and again tells me to never call his store again. You cannot make this shit up. I have been coming here to get my shoes repaired for over 15 years and I live on the Southside, NOT the Penninsula, so that should tell you something already. The owner is an older gentleman that can come across as a grouch to some, however he is just a no nonsense business owner who is direct and courteous. He isn't going to sugar coat ANYTHING, however he IS going to give you an excellent end result, which he has continually done time and time again for my entire family. read more

Owner does an excellent job and I find the prices to be reasonable. However if your looking for customer service and care where your money goes this is not the place. Payment is required up front as it should be and you a provided a ticket to bring back upon your return. If you lose your ticket there isnt a back up as I discovered today. I lost my ticket (totally on me) but the owner gave me the hardest time about retrieving the shoes that I could not only describe what had been fixed but also the shoe in detail prior to pointing them out (which he required) He asked for ID which I had no problem providing to verify my identity. Then got angry when my DL address did not match VA address. Im military and told him so. I even showed him that ID which still wasn't good enough. I then got my registration to show him that I live at the address reflected on my receipt he has. He continued to argue with me that because I didnt live here it would be a problem because someone could come in with the ticket and claim the shoes. Causing issues for him. While I totally understand that, create a work around. Make customers sign something that states if they lose their ticket proof of identity is required at pickup. After that has been done the owner is no longer liable. Its a shame this store didn't work out, i have several leather shoes I wanted to re sole and I wont be returning. read more

This place was recommended by a trusted friend. I brought in 5 pairs of shoes with various heel problems. The gentleman at the front counter was very courteous and friendly. He was very pleasant as he checked each shoe and explained the prices. He gave me the total and my pick up date. I brought my shoes in on a Wednesday and they were ready for pick up on Tuesday. Excellent work, very reasonably priced. Checking my closets for more shoes! Highly recommend! read more

I was a patron years ago and I had no problem recommending this establishment and supporting a small local business. The quality of repair was good. Now it's a far different story. I brought two pairs of men's shoes needing soles and heels in November 2018. The cost for both were over $100. That in and of itself was not the issue. Both were comfortable and classically styled work shoes and after repair I expected to gain perhaps another 2 - 3 years of wear. Now the quality of repair was visually acceptable on one pair and it appears to wear good. On the other hand, visually the other pair was marginal best, but I could live with it. However after only 3 months of wear, I am looking at significant wear through on one of the soles (I can now see the interior shoe lining!) and the heel on the other shoe is actually starting to peel off. Upon closer inspection, I noted a very thin leather sole applied over the exiting sole with small gaps in the stiching between the new sole and old. Finally the rubber heels appear to be just nailed on with a minimum number of nails without prepping or leveling the base it is nailed on. I also noted the stiching holding the upper leather pieces behind the heel is separating. I want to still keep these shoes, but I will not take a chance and hand them back to this place again. read more
