After an exhausting few hours shopping my daughter and I decided we needed a coffee break, but Starbucks was heaving and this place next door was empty and we could get a seat easily, and erm....cupcakes....need I say more? We chose the double chocolate and the campfire s'mores to share along with decaf coffee. We were surprised they had decent decaf ready as most places don't! The cupcakes were delicious. Moist with just enough frosting without it overwhelming the chocolate sponge. The cupcakes are laid out nicely and you can pick which ones you want. The young gal serving us was helpful and happy to pose for a photo and greeted us when we entered and waved goodbye as we left. One of my family members got these as a gift for their birthday, so I got to sneak a bite (or two) of the selections given. The quality of these cupcakes were excellent, and they kept really well despite being in the fridge for a week. The peanut butter and chocolate mousse cupcakes were phenomenal, absolutely decadent and delicious. The strawberry shortcake was subtle, but still lovely. The cinnamon one was the weakest, however. It was a great treat to find Mercy's Cakes in Cups at the Del Amo Mall the other week. The store is spotless, bright and appealing and the display of cupcakes is very neat and attractive. Service was excellent and the lady who assisted us was welcoming and friendly. As for the cupcakes, I'd say are exactly the right size and not in any way sickly with too much frosting - it's just the right amount. There's also a wide variety of flavors. When we went in it was quiet; it probably gets busier at other times, but if you're looking for an alternative to Starbucks and want to have a quick sit down mid shopping, a place to gather your thoughts, I highly recommend popping in to Mercy's for a lovely treat. read more

Absolutely delicious! We tried a variety box and everything was so good! The strawberry shortcake, pumpkin spice, campfire s'mores, and cookies and cream were my kids favorites. Not to forget the brownies and cookies. Every bite was great! Walked into this place on December,31 at 3:15 ish to be exact, we were passing by because from the outside it looks really good, but as we walked in our daughter walked to check out the displays and a lady came out from the doors and literally screamed " DONT TOUCH THAT" LOUD in a very small store. As someone who has plenty of experience in customer service I would of definitely handled the situation differently maybe using another tone in your voice next time. A easy I'm sorry sweetheart can you please not touch the displays, how beautiful did that sound, maybe YOU should use my example next time. Remember that children are always going to be children. Right after we walked out because I couldn't believe that had happened, she gave us the most nasty looks to my daughter's and me, and did some type of hand motion, extremely immature and type of customer service. Maybe they should have a sign not children allowed or don't touch displays. NEVER STEPPING A FOOT into this place, I don't even scream at my own children. read more

After eating a lunch late lunch today, I needed something sweet to complete my meal. We had the privilege of meeting a young lady by the name of Mercy and her 2 beautiful daughters. Mercy is the owner of "Mercy's Cakes in Cups" conveniently located in the Outdoor Village of Del Amo Fashion Center, 3525 W. Carson Street, Torrance, California 90503 between Jamba Juice and Starbucks. They offer cupcakes, cakes, muffins, cookies, brownies and so much more. We ended up getting 5 treats. I ask Mercy how her treats are made and she said from scratch. I asked if she had gluten-free items and she said "No, we use real ingredients and make all of our desserts with love, but if someone needed that special request I can do it." After i ate, I went back to ask more questions but she was not available, so I spoke to her oldest daughter. I asked how long has her mom been baking. She said that she has been creating her special desserts for about three years starting off at the farmers market in Bellflower, California. She has always been the dessert maker for the holidays for her family. With the backing of her love ones, she was able to get her spot at the Del Amo Mall in February, prior to the pandemic. Of course now, there is no indoor dining, so she had to move her display of sweet treats outside to the Courtyard area. While waiting in line, I heard some of the young ladies saying that they follow her on Instagram. They will help you present the perfect dessert for any special occasion.
