Mini Almond Chocolate Croissant ($4.45)
Luke L.

Sweet Wheat is a family-owned French artisan bakery in Redondo Beach and they have a secondary location in Downtown Culver City. [Parking]: The bakery has a small private parking lot and I had no issue finding an available spot on a weekday. [Atmosphere]: The bakery has both indoor and outdoor tables. [Menu]: The #1 baked good to order here is the Almond Croissant, but they ran out of the regular almond croissant at 12:45 PM on Sunday during my first visit. I was pretty determined to get it so I came back the next day at 10 AM and was able to get one. They also offer mini versions of select croissants, quiche, sandwiches, salads, coffee, tea, etc. *** Quiche Lorraine (Madrange Parisian Ham, Emmental Swiss Cheese, Cage Free Organic Eggs Filling, and Chives - $10.95): The employee kindly warmed it up for me and it was the last one on Sunday afternoon. It had an amazing melt-in-your-mouth texture. Mini Almond Chocolate Croissant (Laminated Puff Pastry, French Isigny Butter, Almond Cream, Chocolate & Sliced Almond - $4.45): It was cold so didn't have a soft texture. The chocolate was a bit overpowering. Blueberry Madeleine (French Traditional Flour, French Isigny Butter, Blueberry Jam & Cake Free Organic Eggs - $4.25): A solid pastry. Mini Almond Croissant (Laminated Puff Pastry, French Isigny Butter, Almond Cream & Sliced Almond - $3.95): I liked it better than the almond chocolate croissant because it had molasses instead of chocolate (the molasses tasted less overpowering). *** I highly recommend Quiche Lorraine and Almond Croissant, but I have to admit these baked goods aren't exactly affordable. P.S. - The bakery has a rewards program ($5 off birthday reward).

Love this place! They have fancy desserts that are pretty to look at and are equally delicious. Their sandwiches and iced coffee is pretty good too. I haven't been in a while but now I think I'll definitely revisit soon!

Everything about this place is great . Service - friendly service greeted us and was patient while we decided what yummy treats to buy Sandwiches- we bought the iberrico sandwich and the tuna sandwich both were delicious . Pastries - got the tiramisu , chocolate muse , almond croissant and the raspberry macaron . I have to say each pastries was so fresh and delicious Excellent experience and most definitely worth the drive !

I ordered these the day before and picked them up early in the morning. I wanted to try a lot of their items, so I got: * Croissant (this was the only one I liked) * Pain aux Raisins * Almond Chocolate Croissant * Cannelé * Chocolate French Toast * Apricot Raisin Orange Blossom Cake * Salted Caramel Apple Cake * Flan * Millefeuille Vanille * Chocolate Opéra Cake * Tiramisu * Cranberry & Walnut Sourdough * Vanilla Custard French Donut But honestly, only the croissant was good. Everything else was just okay. A bit disappointing since I was expecting it to taste more like what I had in France.

Very disappointing experience, and unfortunately this has lost my business. I've ordered from Sweet Wheat Bakery multiple times in the past and had always been happy, which makes this even more frustrating. I purchased a $60 fraisier cake for a birthday, and despite living only 5 minutes away and going straight home, the cake did not hold up at all. After being stored overnight in the refrigerator, it had essentially collapsed before we could even cut or serve it. The taste was also far from what I've come to expect. The cake was overwhelmingly jam-heavy with barely any cream, completely lacking the light, balanced flavor a fraisier should have. It was not enjoyable and most of it ended up being thrown away. I reached out directly to the bakery to resolve the issue and gave them the opportunity to make it right, but received no meaningful follow-up. For the price and reputation, this was unacceptable. Really disappointing to see such a drop in quality--especially from a place I used to trust.

Located on the corner of Avenue G and PCH, it is a quite large bakery with its own parking lot and inside seating for 50+ people. There are also many tables outside for those who prefer al fresco. The ordering process was very simple: get in line, point at what you want in its large glass display case, the very attentive staff will retrieve them for you, then you pay for the items at the end of the line. The prices are not inexpensive but the quality of the items will dispel any doubt you have about what you are paying for. They also offer discounts for multiple item purchases There were so many tasty choices, and it was extremely hard to decide what to order. For this visit, we ordered the following items: Ind. Fraisier Cake: the strawberries were fresh, the cake was soft, airy and not too sweet. Raspberry Vanilla Macaron: Both the crust and filling were on the hard side. It was also quite sweet. Morello Cherries Clafoutis: Both the crust and filling were soft. The tanginess of the cherries offset the sweetness of the filling. Quite exquisite. Flan: the crust was slightly on the hard side but still quite buttery and delicate. The custard filling was soft, not too sweet, and very tasty. Walnut and Cranberry Bread: the crust was not too hard, and the crumb was soft and very wholesome. They did not skimp on the walnuts and cranberries for sure. Pistachio Cookies: They were soft, buttery, and not too sweet. The pistachio chunks were fresh and flavorful. We did not try their sandwiches this time since we have already had our lunch, but we will get one of their paninis for sure on our next visit.

If you are looking to meet with your friends or family on the go, this is the place! The have the trios for a reasonable price or you can put a meal together. The food can be warmed or as is. Nice ambiance, nice employees. Oh yeah freshly squeezed orange is a Must!

The beat french pastry in the southbay, it is a bit on the pricier side of pastries but it is well worth it. Even the appearance alone it looks as good as it appears. I love to get any of their tarts. I come to treat myself,I havnt tried their savory goods, although I did get a baguette. Yummy!

A good selections of both sweet and savory pastries with both indoor and outdoor seatings available. You walk up to the queue and order with one of the staffs, and tell them what you want along the way. Staffs are pretty friendly. Around 50 seats available inside, pretty chill but can get a little loud if there's a lot of people. Decent pastries, coffee was alright. Pretty much self served after they hand you the tray. They also have combo choices to make it meal like. Love how that all the prices and allergens are listed so nothing caught you by surprise. Street parking and a small parking lot at the back.

Food - large selection of pastries and desserts. However the desserts weren't any good. The pain au chocolat had a weird cheesy taste that was extremely unappetizing. The pumpkin tartlet tasted extremely artificial. The almond pain au chocolat was overbaked/burnt. On the bright side I had the tuna sandwich and it was quite fresh and good. The baguette part was nice and chewy and the egg is a nice touch/addition to the tuna. Hubby had the chicken pesto and was not satisfied. Chicken pesto wasn't as high of quality, bread unevenly baked (some parts hard to chew), cheese was mediocre and the sandwich overall was nothing to write home about. Service was awful. It definitely could use improvement. It was extremely unorganized and the workers all stayed behind the counter. Zero acknowledgement and tables and floors dirty. Did a pick up order to skip the line, but it was frustrating trying to get any one to help us. Order was also not ready at the time of pickup. They ran out of one of the pastries, but accommodated by allowing us to select another instead, so at least there was that (even though it didn't taste any good) . Parking lot is small and cramped. Probably won't be returning to this particular location.

I was craving for dessert and a friend recommended this place and I am shocked I've never notice this place before as I've passed by it so many times lol. There's ample amount of parking around the building and the place itself is quit spacious. I came here close to closing time around 7:00pm (they close at 8;00pm) and there were plenty of tables available. We ordered the chocolate mousse, raspberry tartlet, crème brûlée tartlet and cappuccino. The crème brûlée tartlet was by far our favorite. It was so good I'm def coming back for more. The raspberry tartlet was good as well. I was a bit disappointed initially that their large coffee size was 12oz until I realized just how strong their coffee was. I can really taste the difference. The only thing we didn't like was the chocolate mousse. Something tasted off and the little chocolate drops on top was hard and did not taste good either. No big D. There were so many other sweets I wanted to try. I'm def coming back again. We devoured the tartlets so quickly that I totally forgot to take a pic so instead I went back to the display and took pics from there ;) Service was on par. The two gents closing were very helpful and informative. I enjoyed their vibe.

I wanted to update my review because my most recent visit completely changed my experience. As always, the food and pastries were amazing, but what truly stood out this time was the service. Anais was incredibly sweet, welcoming, and attentive, and she made us feel genuinely comfortable and appreciated from the moment we walked in. She's so nice and positive energy made such a difference and really elevated the entire experience. This visit reminded me why Sweet Wheat has so much potential not just because of the quality of the food, but because of team members like Anais who truly care about customers. I'm happy to say I'll definitely be coming back. Thank you, Anais, for such a lovely experience!

Outdoor seating area
Lisa N.

I went around 10am with a friend on a week day and it wasn't packed at all. Parking is decent, not plenty but just enough to accommodate. Outdoor seating was nice but facing PCH so, if you don't like the noise of traffic, stay inside. So many variety of pastries and desserts. A little on a pricy side to be honest, but definitely satisfying.

I sat outdoors and listened to the sound of the water wall fountain installation. Large selection of varying French pastries and desserts that look absolutely scrumptious. This includes croissants, cookies, tarts, macaroons, cakes, pate, cheeses, quiches, brioches, etc. There was an open menu/book with pictures of the food on the counter. They offer many options. It was difficult to decide, but I finally decided and ordered an avocado toast and small latte. Because there was only one other person there, the lady behind the counter said she would find me, which she did. She delivered my drink first. Afterwards, she personally delivered my avocado toast with a side salad, served on a wooden chopping block. It all looked good. Well presented. From the first bite of my avocado toast, it was delicious because of the freshly baked bread. A nice, thick dark bread. It was piled on with freshly chopped avocados that kept falling off the bread, topped with pickled radish, tomatoes, and pine nuts. Parking: There's plenty of free, shared lot parking in the back.

The display case alone will get you -- everything looked so good. We ended up getting the red velvet cookie and a peanut butter cookie. The peanut butter cookie was really good -- flavorful but not overpowering, and not overly sweet, which I appreciated. It had that classic soft texture with just enough chew. The red velvet cookie, on the other hand, was a bit too sweet for me personally. If you love super sweet desserts, you'll probably enjoy it, but it was a little much for my taste. Again, there was nothing fancy about the sandwich, but it was just so good ... the crusty, chewy baguette keeps me coming back. Update: As I was sitting outside enjoying my sandwich, I realized that I had previously reviewed the Little French Bakery on the wrong scale. I was comparing it to fine dining restaurants on a single food scale. But I should have been comparing it to other bakeries, cafes, and delis (e.g., Panera or Sweet Wheat). That's why I'm now giving it 5 stars. Bottom Line: Great.

I had more than enough points to redeem a free pastry reward, and since I was just at nearby Del…read moreAmo Fashion Center, I figured why not use one of my free pastry rewards at this Paris Baguette? So first things first, be aware that this Paris Baguette is actually inside Hannam Chain Supermarket at Village Del Amo on the southwest corner of Torrance and Hawthorne. I didn't know it at the time, so I circumnavigated the plaza, looking for Paris Baguette signage like I usually do for the other standalone locations. After stopping my car somewhere in the plaza, I had to double-check the location to be inside the Hannam Chain Supermarket, which I had just literally passed by minutes ago. D'oh! lol I hadn't even heard of Hannam Chain Supermarket, so I took some time to explore the store even though Paris Baguette is literally closest to the entrance. The overall selection of baked goods kind of disappointed me because it felt like there were fewer choices of pastries here compared to the other locations I've been to before. However, oddly enough, they had more selections available! I think it's because they have time stamps listed on each pastry so that the pastries are inside the display case for no more than 4 hours. I thought the pastries would have remained good at least until the end of the day, so to hear of their 4 hour shelf life was a bit surprising to me. For the record, I've been to several other Paris Baguettes before, but this was the first time I noticed these time stamps. Even though the variety of pastries was not as much compared to the other standalone locations, I still had a difficult time deciding which pastry to get! However, I noticed a new flavor of a supreme croissant I hadn't seen before: pink velvet. I've heard of red velvet, but not pink, and presuming that this is a seasonal offering for Valentine's Day, I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to try one before that special day. They had other supreme croissant flavors like chocolate and salted caramel pretzel, but I'm sure those flavors will be offered for much longer than the pink velvet. I do remember trying a strawberry supreme croissant from the Cerritos location, so perhaps after Valentine's Day, that would take the place of the pink velvet. After grabbing one of two Pink Velvet Supreme Croissants left in the display case, I made my way around and to the register. Phone in hand, I had the Paris Baguette app pulled up to redeem my reward. Actually, a good part of me had thought that this location inside Hannam Chain wouldn't honor my reward because for Tous Les Jours, the locations inside Hmart wouldn't be eligible for earning points or redeeming rewards. Luckily, Paris Baguette is not Tous Les Jours, and I was able to redeem my reward with no trouble. The cashier who rang me up was pretty friendly as well. She placed my Pink Velvet Supreme Croissant in a small paper bag and wished me a good day. While there are a handful of tables inside the food hall portion of Hannam Chain, most were occupied by customers of other eateries, so I simply went outside to enjoy my free sweet treat. The pink velvet ruby chocolate that covered the top portion of the round croissant didn't have nearly as much flavor, though the Valentine's sprinkles on top did make for a nice touch at least. Also, the custard cream inside didn't taste like anything at all! It wasn't bad, but it makes me wonder how much more flavorful the salted caramel pretzel would have been. I'll be sure to get that on my next visit to a Paris Baguette! I got the croissant about 2.5 hours after they were prepared, so maybe they would have tasted better had I gone 2 hours earlier? Lastly, I'm kind of shocked that this is pretty much the only Paris Baguette location in the South Bay. With how expansive a city like Torrance is, you would think they'd have at least a second location elsewhere like in Hmart. Otherwise, the next closest location would be in Long Beach, which literally just opened at The Pike Outlets. Overall, it's not a bad Paris Baguette to go to, but if you live in the South Bay, you'd be better off downloading the 85C Bakery app over the Paris Baguette app as there are much more 85C locations in the area. Also, this Paris Baguette may not necessarily carry your favorite pastries here, so heed caution if you plan to go out of your way to visit this patisserie.

The icing of the orange donut thing also got stuck to the box and we had to scrape it off... Out of 4 pastries none of them were really that good, it really made me not want to come back. I also ordered a plain iced coffee and the coffee quality is not good at all. Tastes like it was made from a Mr coffee machine at home. Service was friendly. While I've been here a few times this is my first formal review. I came with my family one Sunday evening on a hot July day, bypassing several chains on the way, including the new(er) Salt and Straw across the street. The inside is packed to the brim with sweets, small toys, and people, much like a candy shop of old. After reaching the front of the winding line our family shared a Banana Split ($13) - three scoops of ice cream, a split banana, hot fudge, a single dry topping (we chose coconut), whipped cream, and a trio of cherries - about as classic as it comes. The ice cream was good but not exceptional. The chocolate and strawberry were fairly generic, but I liked the third scoop of banana foster ice cream which had a nice banana kick. I doubt this ice cream is home made. The complements and construction to the sundae were great, however, and the flavors came together well. As I would hope for a location like this, the staff are local youths who served with patience and passion. In cases throughout the store are several of their other specialties - ice cream cookie sandwiches, dipped frozen bananas, and more - inviting repeat visits. Prices are elevated but not crazy for such a trendy area, although I would say with the middling quality of the ice cream a couple dollars less would be fine. Overall, Manhattan Beach Creamery is a local landmark worth at least a single visit for anyone in the area. If you can get past the generic, if a little boring, ice cream flavor and rampant commodification of the interior, you'll find a classic ice cream parlor with great service and history. Is it worth a repeat visit? I leave that to you. Food: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Value: 4/5

And their scoops aren't tiny -- they are the full, overflowing scoop of ice cream. The staff is helpful and friendly. You can try some flavors before you decide what you want to get. Today, the inside was decorated for the World Cup 2026 fans, and there definitely were some global visitors, judging by the languages I overheard in the line while waiting for my turn.
