This was absolutely the worst dining experience my family, collectively, has ever had. We were celebrating our daughter's first birthday and it was supposed to be a special evening to celebrate her first year. It was very obvious it was her birthday as she was wearing a crown and a first birthday dress which stated she was one year old. We also told the manager, who greeted us at arrival, that it was her birthday, as well as our server. Our server, Marita, was rude from the beginning. After we didn't order any alcohol, it was clear that Marita began to lose interest in serving us. We tried to ask her if we were ordering the right. Our kids' dinners and our salads came out in a timely manner, and by the way, the mac n cheese was very obviously Kraft and they were acting like it was a really great Mac n cheese before we ordered it. One hour after we ordered, we were still looking for our entrees and sides while our kids started to really go downhill as it started to get very late. We asked the server where our food was on several occasions and she again seemed irritated. After we saw many other tables who arrived much later than us eating their dinners, we decided to go to the front hostess stand. After waiting for about five minutes, the hostess finally came up and mentioned that she'd find our server, Marita. Upon going back to the table, our server, Marita, told us one of the entrees was not ready yet because we had ordered salads, our entrees were coming late, as if this were somehow our fault for ordering salads. We then asked the server again a few minutes later where the entree was as it was well over an hour since we had ordered. She said we could box our food and take it home, which only made matters worse. We had come out to eat dinner for our daughter's first birthday and not to sit around waiting for more than an hour to take home boxed food. She also blamed the kitchen for being busy, yet somehow all the other tables that sat well after us had their food. We finally spoke with the manager who was not much better. She also offered to box our food once it was ready, and we said again we came here to eat dinner with our daughters and for the birthday. By this point our kids were really exhausted and whining and our poor birthday girl was crying and obviously so tired. Finally the food came after we had to chase down several people to figure out where our food was, and we were so upset that we had waited so long and our daughter's first birthday dinner was going so poorly with such awful service. No one seemed bothered at all about this and excuses kept coming. The manager tried to blame this on saying that the server said we wanted courses and not have everything served at once. This is not true as we always are fine with food coming out all at once, especially with kids. She then tried to say that maybe the server, Marita, spaced things out in a certain way, and that she would see what went wrong, yet was still not looking to make things right. By this point it was clear that this horrible experience and lack of any customer service on top of waiting a ridiculously long time for our food with our kids screaming was not anyone's concern, not to mention that this was completely unacceptable for our daughter's first birthday. The server, Marita, completely disappeared by this point and the manager was trying to offer us a free dessert after all of this. After having to wait so long, having our daughter's first birthday dinner ruined, and complaining to get any help with our service, we were clearly frustrated and so upset and had no appetite. We ended up boxing the food and not eating there as we were upset and it was so late. Of course now the kids were beyond exhausted and my memory of my daughter's first birthday and singing to her will be of this awful, terrible experience, horrible service by Marita, lack of customer service by the manager, the kids screaming. She asked what else they could do, well they can't give us back the only night that our daughter will turn one year old. Marita and the manager soiled this night for us and we will never forget this poor experience on our baby's first birthday. As loyal Bonvoy customers, we will ensure this gets corrected as this dreadful experience is not one we expected of a high end place. But to be honest we could've had better service at McDonald's or another fast food restaurant. Just awful. And I used to work at a restaurant in high school and I can tell you that every restaurant has standards for how long courses need to be spaced apart, how you treat guests, and how you address problems. Clearly Meridian does not follow such standards nor care about their guests and their guests special reasons and life moments for dining there. On top of this, the food was actually very underwhelming and not good. Not sure how they are charging $35+ for a piece of cauliflower and some vegetables. read more
