With its beautiful Deco-inspired design that meets California luxury, framed by a lovely view of the San Francisco Bay, the setting alone makes an impression. The experience only gets better as the champagne cart rolls up to your table and the amuse bouche lets you know this place isn't just a pretty face. I wish I could remember our server's name. She was an excellent guide through the menu, offering thoughtful suggestions and pacing our four course meal beautifully. She was always attentive but never hovering. As spectacular as the service, ambiance, decor, and location are, the star here is the food. We started with a Caesar salad prepared tableside, then followed by the Miyazaki wagyu, then the main course: a dry-aged New York strip paired with lobster risotto. Every bite was outstanding, each plate showcasing something different yet equally memorable. We ended with the banana split, which, while not quite as memorable as the bananas foster prepared tableside at the Hualalai location, was still delicious and thoughtfully executed. The wine pairings throughout were spot on. We had a 5 pm seating, so the brightness in the room was the only element that wasn't quite perfect. I imagine a later seating, after dark, would lend a more romantic ambiance, but that feels like nitpicking. Our stay at The Four Seasons Hualali included dining multiple times at Miller & Lux, which did not disappoint. I especially liked that they offer a separate vegan menu. The restaurant itself is beautiful and traditional Hawaiian aesthetic, with a very impressive wine fridge. Plenty of staff that worked hard to accommodate our party of six, and keep things rolling. The general manager made sure that all of our needs were met. Highly recommend going here whilst on the Big Island. Another visit to Miller & Lux and another incredible meal! This time we knew better than to over order. We started with the warm, complimentary popovers - not to be missed! He had a mezcal margarita and I enjoyed a refreshing glass of Sancerre. We shared the beautiful Ali'i Mushrooms and the Miller & Lux Caesar. Love the table side preparation! Fresh greens, sharp parmesan, tangy lemon...savory deliciousness! He had the Filet with Bordelaise Sauce, Onion Jam, and Beef Chicharrón and licked his plate clean. I had the starter of Bigeye Tuna Tacos. Light, fresh, and just what I needed. The burger and Dover Sole were tempting but I wanted something lighter. Service was warm and attentive. We got risotto, I asked if we could do a side order. Our server Jason offered half of an order and half of an 8 oz filet. Well, that actually was the perfect suggestion. The filet did have to go back for being under cooked. And our sides did get cold while waiting. But, the food was phenomenal. I could have done without the mac n cheese. It was not great. I thought that was cool. I've never had my Caesar salad made at table side before. I've had other things before. It was different and I liked it. I read up on this restaurant, before I came. There is a Miller & Lux in San Francisco, and it was written up well for their hamburger. I decided to try it and plus I was in the mood for one. It sounded so good. The burger did not disappoint at all. I think it was the best burger I've had. It was prepared neatly and perfectly. It looked and tasted amazing. The French Fries were very good too. Light and crispy, the way I like them. The staff and service were on point. Excellent! Everyone was very friendly. I have no complaints and was very pleased with everything. We dined at Miller & Lux Hualalai at the Four Seasons on April 10th, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The service was truly outstanding. From the initial reservation with the hostess to being warmly greeted by one of the restaurant managers upon arrival, everything felt seamless and intentional. Our server, Ayesha, was exceptional--attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging throughout the evening. The sommelier was fantastic as well. We were also checked in on by Franchesica, another manager, who made the evening feel even more special with her hospitality. The food absolutely delivered. My son ordered the kids' chicken cutlet, which was excellent, and both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our steaks--the filet and the New York were perfectly prepared. Hats off to the chef and the entire kitchen team. Beyond the food and service, the setting is hard to beat. The ocean view, especially at that time of day, combined with the ambiance of the restaurant, made for a memorable evening. Five stars all around. We'll definitely be back. read more

Ambiance: not beachfront but a beautiful setting nonetheless. Tables are relatively quiet if seated on the balcony. Service: started off great but ended up being a let down. Our waitress and the overall service was very nice through the appetizers and main course, but after that things went down hill. It's like our waitress and the rest of the staff completely forgot about us. It took quite a while for our main dishes to be cleared and dessert (just a couple pieces of cake) took over 30 minutes to arrive. After that the dessert dishes weren't cleared for another 20 minutes and bringing the check took another 15. By the time all was said and done we were just ready to get out of there. They also didn't recognize our 1 year wedding anniversary that was mentioned as we were checking in. read more

Came with my boyfriend for a birthday dinner. The restaurant has very classy ambience and is nicely decorated, and the view was gorgeous. We called around 3pm and got reservations the same day at 6:30. I ordered the beet tartare tacos, heirloom green beans, and the Caesar salad (vegan version). They were pretty good but I could tell the place is more geared towards meat eaters (makes sense with it being a steakhouse)! My boyfriend got the M&L burger and the mac & cheese and loved both. I ordered a Ka Pua Poni drink off the "lower ABV" drink menu, but it was super yummy and I thought it was the perfect level. Our server (I think his name was Vance? Or maybe Vince?) was very helpful and attentive. I'm vegan, and we only got one drink total, which played a part in this, but the bill came out to be pretty reasonable. About the same price as eating at Huggo's, even after including a good tip. We will be coming back to dine at the Four Seasons again! read more

The restaurant is located at the Four Seasons. You can valet your car or park in the lot. The valet told us we could park in any spot including the valet spaces. It is only a short walk back to the restaurant. This place is amazing. From the time we walked in it was lovely. The place is setup so nicely. I loved the open air look. The walls of the exterior fold in so it looks out to the tables outside and then to the trees, it really is beautiful. We sat inside however just a few feet from the outside tables. We came just as the place was opening so no one was seated around us. They do have specialty cocktails but I don't do mixed drinks. I asked for my Remy Martin but they didn't carry it. I had an 18 year old Japanese whiskey which hit the spot. Then the Martell Cordon Blue. My wife got the Caesar salad and they made it at the table. So neat. The bread they brought was baked special and it was like croissant crust all over. It was different but I didn't finish it. I got the oysters which were from Hawaii. Kumamoto's. There was a lot of stuff on top. Next was the filet which was cooked to perfection. Yummy. The wife got their famous burger. It was so tall she had to squeeze it tight to try and get it in her mouth. It was amazing. Thus the award for it. Plus it came with truffle fries. We topped our dinner off with the fruit tart. So lovely. This place had such good service and ambiance. It was our perfect ending to our vacation at the Big Island. Chef Tyler Florence is amazing to have a restaurant here on Kona. We will come here again if we make it out here. Chef Tyler Florence's team is overseeing the kitchen operations of Miller & Lux and it shows. The quality of the food and the exceptional service is a huge improvement to what was offered at this location before. Beautiful steaks with a chef that knows how to serve them at the right temperature. I have been able to try most of the menu and have been impressed by everything from the Wagyu Tomahawk to the anything but humble M&L Burger. And if you don't feel like red meat there are some very nice seafood offerings like the dover sole that was so buttery good. The service has always been very good in both the dining room and at the bar. There's one server Tim that stands out because of the wonderful and honest recommendations as well as a vast wine knowledge. If you get the privilege of sitting in his section, you will be well taken care of. If you want a truly exceptional five star experience and yet still getting a relaxed Hawaii vibe, I highly recommend making a reservation at Miller & Lux. read more

Spectacular dinner. The view from our table was the golf course, it was lit beautifully. This was our friends 50th birthday and he's vegan. Usually restaurants barely have a good selection, but when we told our waitress she was animated and said no problem. She took the time to review the menu and assist with selections. Cockroach landed on our table , was crawling toward our food. We got so turned off( family of 6, 2 young kids, 2 elderlies), we couldn't eat the $235 cowboy ribeye that just came to the table , nor all the side dishes we ordered, the second bottle of the wine got wasted! Manager came over and apologized to us, reinsured us that was normal because we are in Hawaii. But he was generous enough to take the water and French fries off our bill. Four Seasons and Tyler Florence have definitely placed their very best in this establishment, which is an impressive improvement to the (thankfully defunct) Hualalai Grill, the previous occupant of this spot. We chose to celebrate my daughter's 10th birthday here and they made her feel so special. She was greeted with lots of excitement about her big day, and our server, Duane, delivered an amazing meal with style. Try the chicken parm, which was perfectly described as "the world's best chicken nugget!" Others at our table ordered the filet and burger, both raving about their awesomeness. For our visit to Miller & Lux it was a special occasion dinner for my husband's birthday last night. It was a very memorable experience that checked all the boxes. There are a variety of special occasion dining experiences to choose from on the island and I'm so happy we chose M & L. We will be back again! We were greeted and chatted up by the maître D who was very friendly and our waiter Will was very attentive, informative and fun. I had let them know in my reservation it was my hubby's bday and everyone took the time to wish him happy bday and make him feel special. The restaurant is as beautiful as one would expect being at the Four Seasons property. The food was delicious and flavorful and the presentation was also wonderful. We did not feel rushed and took about two hours for the whole experience. We did the table side Caesar salad (a must get if your a Caesar fan), filet and new your strip, with shareable sides of the corn and mushrooms. The only thing is I would trade out the corn for another side because the coconut part of the corn made it a bit too coconut tasting for me. (It was still good, but the coconut flavor does come through fairly heavy) I heard people around us raving about the Brussel sprouts so will get them next time. We saved room for the coconut cake for his bday and it was to die for. Special tip: this restaurant is set back on the Four Seasons property, so we booked dinner at 7:30, but arrived at 6:30 to the property (parking so easy too) Get to this gorgeous property early and have a drink and an appetizer down at the bar in the restaurant on the beach and catch their epic sunsets! read more

I must say, this was some exquisite fine dining. My tum tum has reached maximum capacity. My personal favorites were the new york strip, the kale salad, and the truffle fries. The cesar salad, while it was not my favorite, was prepared tableside with fresh lettuce from the root! In addition to the splendid meal, this fine young lad with a spectacular curly mustache served our table in the most gentlemanly manner. He was quite amusing, very attentive and accommodating. We have been here many of times and it has been great! However; tonight was not the same experience. We waited an hour for salads followed by another hour for entrees. I will say the waitress was very kind and did a great job at trying to accommodate while we waited the ridiculous amount of time. The sommelier was flat out rude and was uninterested in filling the wine glasses of our large party after we had asked continuously for more wine. We had a large pour remaining in the bottle and he removed it from the table before we could finish the bottle. We didn't mention that one of our guests at the table was also a certified sommelier and even they knew it was unprofessional. Food was average at best. Definitely not worth the price tag. Tomahawk was sent back and returned just as awful. Wagyu Bavette tasted rancid. $116 Dover Sole was filled with bones. I love the Four Seasons and all the restaurants on this property but I would steer clear of this one until they get it back to the standard that Tyler Florence would approve of. read more

Fancy name but very subpar slow meal. I've eaten here many times and always enjoyed my meal but not this time. Tonight, my party and I waited for over 2 hours for our entrees after ordering them. We ordered our meal before other large parties walked into this restaurant yet they still got their food before us; this experience was embarrassing. In almost 20 years of being members at the Four Seasons Hualalai Resort, we have only waited this long for a meal on Four Seasons property 1 other time. Chef Tyler needs to PLEASE return ASAP to figure out what is going on with his restaurant and kitchen. Whenever we questioned the inappropriate wait time, we were met with, "thank you". We never got an answer as to what happened, what went wrong or even an, "I'm sorry". To top it off, I ordered the Dover Sole and it was filled with many bones. The bavette steak also tasted old and borderline rancid. Also, the baked potatoes were hard and rotten (literally no other word to describe them). At the end of the evening, management was very kind and offered to take many things off of the bill but we would have rather paid full price for everything and received the great meals we are normally accustomed to here.
