I have used Merle Norman for years but we moved out of the area of my previous store. I went in to La Verne store to replenish my make up supply and the minute I walked in the store clerk was on me like in a very un way. Did not let me browse or look kept asking are you ready to purchase granted I came in with no make up, wearing my comfy couch clothes, lol! But geez, give a girl some space! Maybe I wanted to buy other stuff besides makeup. It got so uncomfortable, so I left with no purchase. I eventually ordered and had it shipped from my previous store. Lesson learned here, folks! The salon is pretty intimate and beautiful. The make up counters were clean, people can get personalized consultation. After many years of searching for the right powder, I decided to go back to what worked for me back in the day...Merle Norman sheer loose powder. As soon as I walked in the store, Sandy was super friendly and helpful. She helped me find my trusty old powder and was super helpful when I asked if she could help me find a foundation. I have a difficult skin color/tone to match and Sandy was really great at helping me get the perfect shade. Overall, a really great experience and I am so glad I stopped by. I will definitely be back for more makeup. I'd also like to try their salon. And they have a really great boutique that is love to explore when I have a little more time. read more

Went into Merle Norman today the store in Laverne. Walked in the person behind the counter not wearing a mask. "I said you don't have to wear masks here?" She said "do what ever makes you feel comfortable ", I said ,"well I'm it comfortable". I start to leave going and she said "I'll put one on".So she put a very flimsy loose fitting scarf around her face which feel down at one point. I was surprised. After wearing MN makeup, I have received numerous compliments about my skin and have seen improvement in the texture, oiliness, and color evenness. I was referred to this salon by my cousin and I am VERY pleased with my experience. I booked an appointment with Melissa for a facial. I have very sensitive skin so I was a little nervous. Melissa was AWESOME!! She really listened to me and demonstrated how attentive she was giving me my facial. My skin really looks and feels great! i searched high and low for a decent place to get my daughter's ears pierced. read too many horror stories about the mall places like claire's and piercing pagodas. seriously started to consider taking her to a tattoo/piercing parlor but hubby said i was crazy. thank god for merle norman!! i called ahead, they had 2 ladies help us pierce both ears at the same time and i didn't have to drive to the mall, just down the street! thank you thank you thank you!! read more

After 10+ years of being unsatisfied with the highlights I was getting at other salons, I decided to make an appt with Deanna after a friends recommendation. She is amazing...so amazing, in fact, that I drive from west LA to see her! She does great highlights and cuts and what I love is that she doesn't coerce me into doing the same thing every time like other stylists have done. I have had a bad experience with this Merle Norman store. I purchased a small tube of a new cosmetic to try it out at the recommendation of the consultant. I paid $9 for the 0.2 fl oz tube. When I got home I read on the tube "Not for individual sale". I returned to the store to return the unopened item and to complain about being charged for item with the "Not for individual sale" label on them. I was told all sales are final and have received no further explanation. I am pleased to use Merle Norman for all my cosmetic needs but I will not return to this store. Fortunately there are others at a reasonable distance where I anticipate better service. read more

I don't think a lot of people know about this place, so maybe I shouldn't be telling everyone how awesome it is but I'm not going to be selfish like that. Gina is a fricken miracle worker! I've gone to several salons all around Claremont/LaVerne/San Dimas area and not one of them is as good at hair as Gina. I've never been super loyal to a particular hairdresser but I think this is it for me. I'm going to stop playing the field and keep going back to where I know I have it good. She's good, she's quick, and she's fairly priced. I've paid double at other salons for a less than stellar result. She does everything; color, cuts, formal updos, you name it. Every time I've given her even a vague idea on what I want, she gets it, does her thing, and I leave happy. The only thing you'll regret is not having made an appointment sooner because she does get busy which is part of the reason I've gone to other places. I just need to be better organized and make my appointments ahead of time! read more
