I will never refer or do business with this company again they stated they went out of business and someone else bought their contract out. I had paid for a yearly service but now they do not want to honor the service. They had a service man coming out service man today after being six hours late on the time that they gave me. The service advisor told me he was going to his truck to get a hose and drove off. Then the company called back and stated that they were not going honor the contract. I tried to schedule an appointment three Saturdays in a row and three Saturdays in a row. No one showed up. You tried to call anyone and they are all robots. I finally talked to one scheduler named Steve, and I thought that he was able to schedule me for Saturday, June 21st and still no one showed up. Very unprofessional. There's no phone number to call anyone and the number that Steve called me from goes straight to voicemail although I saw him read my text asking about the service and timeframe. Horrible company and a scam. Purchased my AC unit a few years back bundled in my deal was also a contract for lots of additional money to have my AC unit serviced by this company. This company has since gone out of business or changed its names. I'm not sure but I've had different people reaching out to me since then. I have had someone named Alan from high-tech reach out to me. Who said he'd come to my house and service my unit and never showed up. I've had people from diamond air-conditioning. Tell me that they were trying to help these people out but no longer are because it's a mess. At this point I think all three of these business names Merlin's, high-tech, and diamond are a scam because I cannot have anyone honor the contract that was signed with Merlin's and have no information on who took over. Will be looking into finding an attorney to help me with this because they have basically charged for something that they no longer are honoring and didn't pass it along to the next business that took over their company. read more

Do not use Merlin's!! New AC Unit referred me to them. All the promises and trying to up-sale more unnecessary equipment not to mention they did not give me the free thermostat that came with the sale from New AC Unit instead they wanted to install a $650 thermostat that you could buy from Home Depot for $200. They promised they would submit the rebate for APS in which you can't do yourself just the AC contractor. Could not get the form from the office or see what they submitted. I made many calls and sent e-mails to find out the status with no answer or we are working. Then a blank form was sent to me for SRP, but I did not have SRP. The form was someone's camera taking a photo of the rebate form and sending to me. The contractor could obtain the form from APS but they did not. I kept asking the sales guy several times when he came out and he kept telling me yes you receive and each time I talked to him he was trying to sell me more upgrades in which one consisted of cutting holes in my wall above all the doors for more airflow. Last time sales came out and he started to shout at me about the rebate in which he said they did not have the equipment to do all the readings and what a hassle it was to submit. Really you are going to tell a customer that after you made all the promises to submit. Then 30 days after the installation I found out they were no longer an APS approved contractor. I lost $1200 plus $200 for the rebate. They made a mess of my home by doing the air duct cleaning while installing AC which was a separate group. That sucked installation into the ducts that came out through the vents. They sent a cubian guy out to clean ducts again that could not speak English...oh great! He tried to clean but he put ladder on my bed to reach the vent and when I saw that I went crazy on him. Unprofessional! Then after he left I saw 4 rooms had marks on my wall where he put the ladder against the wall in rooms that did not have high ceilings. Black marks on walls that you could tell it was from 2 sides of a ladder he was leaning on while cleaning ducts and then in a bathroom he put ladder against the towel rack and wall. Towel rack had to be replaced out of my pocket. They did come out to fix the walls, towel rack and paint. I had to purchase the paint and towel rack. I will tell you the installer Eric did a good job of the installation but he had no control of the rest of the operation. You could never get a hold of the office manager due to her being out of office or vacation but that might of been their answer to avoid talking to me. Invoices from them were incorrect most of the time and I had to contact them about this. Before the installer Eric left I went down the list on the invoice to see if that was performed and there was at least 2 items that was not performed so I had to get them to remove those from total. I could go on but it was a total mess from start to finish. I purchased a service contact and now they are referring me to HVAC school to come out and do my maintenance. Really! My advice do not use this company at all. I am not sure who they are because they were Merlins then Einstein Home Services. Adding one more thing about threatening of loosing warranty coverage if you don't schedule a tuneup but you can't schedule ahead of time to make sure you get on schedule due to waiting for your 1 year mark therefore with me I am in the dead summer and they are very busy. I have had to contact them last winter and now this summer. Here is their answer they are too buy to help and we will refer you to another contractor that is a HVAC school. read more

I signed a 5-year contract with Merlins 3 years ago. They were to provide bi-annual HVAC/heat system maintenance as well as electrical and plumbing inspections. At the beginning, they would call to schedule the services but eventually that stopped and I had to make the calls to schedule. There was also an issue with them keeping the scheduled appointments. Eventually I spoke to a manager and told him I was going to cancel the remaining contract due to their poor attendance. He promised that this would be resolved and for perhaps one or two calls it was. A month ago I had my annual HVAC maintenance scheduled and the technician was a no call/no show twice. I have been trying ever since to speak to a manager. They sent me a link to "einsteinshomeservices" who I think may be doing their scheduling now. I have tried both email and text requests. No response. Best advice I can offer and stay away from Merlins. read more

Had them come out and do a check to see what needed to be done. Of course, he told me a few things that needed to be replaced. His quote was in the neighborhood of $600. He said the capacitor needed to be replaced along with a could of other items. Should be done so it doesn't ruin your unit. I can do it today or even tomorrow. I have a friend that is a HVAC guy in another state and I ran it by him. He's like the part May run $40 or less. He tried getting me on a maintenance plan which I didn't want. Said if it's not replaced soon you might have to buy a whole new unit which could cost $5,000 or more. I can do it now. I told him I'd think about it. I felt he was trying to make a sale and wasn't very thorough with the inspection. I had another business come out and do the inspection and he told me I needed capacitor and the coils cleaned and a couple of other small parts. He also added Freon which I was low on and Merlin's never mentioned that. My unit is up and running better than ever and it cost me $340 dollars. Beware of a pushy salesman. Before they installed my air conditioner/heater, they forgot to tell me how much dust would be created! That was a big one for me. However their latest marketing emails are threatening people with the loss of their service warranty for not scheduling the service on time, yet they are not even telling them which service they should be scheduling. The 1st email I wrote to them below, I was looking for a call or email saying that they would look at their marketing practice. I was not late on service requirements. Is it legal to harass clients with the potential to loose their $3000 warranty if they are paying on it or have paid it off? No. Did I get a call or email regarding my original email no so I decided it was time to let my neighbors know my experience and allow them to make their decision for themselves. Email to Merlin's Again you send me a threat of loosing my coverage yet you give me no further information on which service tune up is required to be completed at this time, therefore your emails are useless! Not only do you send a threatening email once but twice in 2 days was I out of town, in the hospital, or simply busy. You are so inconsiderate I only wish I had never gone with this company but at this point I feel like Im locked in. That's the only way I feel that you can actually keep business. Had a maintenance plan with Einsteins originally and ever sense company became merlins, Curtis has been taking care of us the whole way through. We also had Austin out. Very knowledgeable and by far answered a lot of questions we had. They fixed our system once last year and again on June 24th ( the system shut down again). Excellent service. I was a Merlins/Einstein's A/C and Repair customer for many years. I had even purchased a 10 year maintenance plan from them because I was impressed with their performance and reliability. However now it's time to look for a new company to service my A/C units. Dealing with them has been a painful experience over the course of the last 2 years. I have experienced countless issues with them, from not having the proper ladders to get on the roof (even after it was documented on the account file to bring a tall ladder), managers not returning calls and compounded by several no call/no shows from the Technicians. The schedulers are very nice, however there appears to be a big communication issue on the repair and service side. Everyone's time is valuable, and it does not appear that Merlin's values their customers' time. Based upon my experiences with them over the last 2 years, I would not recommend them to anyone. There are many good choices for air conditioning service and repair. I would suggest selecting a more reliable company to provide your service. read more

BEWARE!!! I had this company come out to service my AC unit which, although older, WAS WORKING PERFECTLY BEFORE THEY CAME OVER. I just wanted to have it serviced before summer hit. Well, the guy came out and showed me photos of "everything that needed fixing". Then their technicians proceeded to vandalize my AC unit. I called the company, never got a call back, and their employee said the owner, Carl Weaver, E. Thunderbird Rd Suite 731, Phoenix, said they wouldn't fix it unless I paid for the "needed parts" (over $2000). This company baits people through an ad for cheap AC tuning, then they drum up further business for themselves after their technicians purposely break things on the unit. They may end up in court with me. My advice--- get a reputable company. They may charge more for a service call, but they won't vandalize your ac which will end up costing you lots more. I'm having heart problems, and my blood pressure went waaaay up and pulse over 145 because of this company. I'm 68 and sure don't need this nonsense. This company is willing to take advantage of a 68 year old woman because of greed. Two days later.... my home warranty serviceman came out. I happen to have a company which services the homes they insure (I just found out--Broward's). Their technician went up on the roof and took a video (too large to upload), but found out that Merlin's technician CUT THE WIRE TO MY AC MOTOR!!! This is vandalism. I have called the police. I have uploaded my home warranty receipt showing that the wire was cut. In addition, they did something to my contactor. I got a call in December to check all of my plumbing throughout the house and check the water heater. I should have said no since I recently remodeled the bathroom and kitchen. But I wanted to have other people check the work. They agreed the work was done great. Good Job Re-Bath and JMG Contracting. Then the sales pitch came when they checked the water heater and showed me all the sediment at the bottom of it. They "educated" me on how a 50 gallon water tank with 2.5 bathrooms in the house needed to be maintained at least once a year by draining it. They then said I am due for a new water heater by the looks of the color and how much sediment there was. I said ok let's replace it with a tankless water heater. My gut was telling me I shouldn't do business with these guys but I did. The tankless water heater they sold me was a Navien NPE 240A. This tankless water heater is designed for 3-5 bath house and to replace a 75 gallon plus 40 gallon tank heater to replace both tanks. If you remember earlier I have a 2.5 bath house and a 50 gallon water heater. The grand total bill was $7,000. My fault for not being "educated" in this. Not only did they over sell me on the type of tankless water heater I needed. They over charged me by $1700 of fair market value of that particular model. compared to pricing I am seeing today. The water heater that should have been sold to me is a NPE 180A that replaces a 50 Gallon water heater at a price around NO MORE than $5100. Bottom Line up front: They sell you stuff you don't need then over charge you for it besides. Hopefully I learned my lesson. This company will take your money and take advantage of your ignorance. read more

Terrible, terrible! Do not call, or sign up with this company! They were to come bi-annually to inspect the HVAC system and do not. Then, I found that part of the program consists of inspecting plumbing systems but did not inform me. The worst is that if one schedules an HVAC inspection of heating and cooling, they then turn around and don't show up. I've called and found that the appointment was canceled. WOW! Thanks for letting me know after I called. They have done this 5 times already! They are consistent in having the worst customer relations service I've ever encountered. I've told them not to schedule for x date, and what do they do? You guessed it. I had a leaking hose bib and the technician wanted to charge me $500.00. I wound up getting a local plumber to do work for less than $100.00. DId I say that I have a contract with them? What company charges their customers this amount? Ditto for cleaning air ducts. End up getting another HVAC company to clean the dryer and other vents. Please take my advice, not worth it. I'm stuck with them until 2027. read more

I would recommend caution when using Merlin for your AC needs. In fairness, my experience may have been an isolated one, but the technician that came out to service my AC that had gone out on a day that reach 112 degrees, could NOT diagnose the problem. She proceeded to describe how she was certain the fan was burned out, but could not be sure about the compressor, and would only know after she replaced the fan. The "story" I got was that this could be a lengthy trial and error of fixes that could end up needing to replace the entire unit. That is what she recommended and quoted me between 11-14k to replace? (The unit was 8-9 years old and she said that is about all you can expect?) I was uncomfortable and decided to get a second opinion. CW AC in Scottsdale was recommended so I invited them out. Within 15 minutes they diagnoses a bad part in the ac unit itself. The replaced it on the spot and we're out the door for $350. (They also shared my unit appeared to have a good 5-7 years of life left and recommended a service, which I have now scheduled with them) Be cautious with Merlin. I felt they were trying to take advantage of a very bad situation to significantly overcharge and "sell" me something that was absolutely not needed.
