Merlins bar and Grill is on the Blackcomb side of Whistler. Because of its location it's not a place we usually eat but since in the shoulder season only Blackcomb is open, we decided to grab lunch here yesterday and it was a pleasant surprise. They were offering 25% off your bill after April 17. The menu wasn't very extensive, I'm not exactly sure if that's because of the shoulder season but both my husband and I opted for burgers. I paid the extra dollar for Yum fries and he got the salad. We found the burger, absolutely delicious, juicy, and both the bun and toppings made everything jive. We really enjoyed the pickled onions that were in the burger as well. My yam fries were piping, hot and covered with a balsamic drizzle and served with an aïoli on the side. My husband solid was packed with vegetables, but generally a pretty generic salad, but nothing bad at all. The environment inside was also pretty cozy. Definitely chalet vibes with the wooden beams but also a party vibe with a moose and bras hanging off of its antlers. In regards to service, you had to go up to order but several wait staff checked in on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed an hour. Food tasted great. Honestly, I really great spot to stop on the Blackcomb. We definitely would return. I bet it would be really fun in the thick of ski season.

Decently priced chalet at the bottom of the black hole mountain to grab lunch! Order at the bar and get a number where they will bring your food to your table. We sat upstairs with a group of seven late in the day on a Friday without much trouble I love the goat, cheese burger, and the yam (sweet potato) fries!

Wednesday 1350 Not busy at this time! Boyfriend and I nabbed a seat inside; several other patrons were sitting outside. TVs were a-playing, country music was a-blasting, and I had fun bobbing my head to the tunes. Our server was friendly and knowledgable and packed our leftovers for us. The food, though, leaves something to be desired. Boyfriend got the steak pie; it was just kind of bland to me. I am a big fan of pureed peas, gravy, and mashed potatoes, together and apart, but it didn't help flavor the steak pie underneath. I got the woodstock and a upgraded poutine fries (extra $3). The woodstock was good, the mushrooms were good, the burger was juicy, the poutine fries were at the right savory and salty level. Overall, Merlin's Bar is nice for a quick lunch, located on the edge of the slopes!

Awesome restaurant in Upper Village right off the gondola. Perfect right after a ski run for food and fun.

I recently visited Merlin's in Whistler for après ski and had a wonderful experience. The slope side beers and onion rings were a delicious treat after a long day of skiing, and the patio provided a great atmosphere to relax and unwind in. Four stars only because I was unable to try the famous nachos as they don't allow for a half order or anything smaller than the large size, which is huge!

Came in for a quick bite and beer after a day on the slopes. My wife and I split the poutine. It had curry and butter chicken and was delicious. The place has a very laid back vibe and while we were there they had live music. If you ski or ride the Blackcomb mountain and want a place to relax at the end of your day, Merlin's is a great spot!

Merlin's is a great place to take a load off when coming off of Blackcomb mountain. My group found it less crowded than other restaurants on the mountain during lunch. The food is pretty decent. The Nacho Daddy nachos and the Vladimir "Poutine" are both big hits here. Then when you're done, it's just a few shorts steps back to the gondola! Can't beat it!

Came here for drinks not food. Awesome vibe and good prices for wine/beer. Lots of screens for watching your fav sport. Wish we'd have found it earlier in our trip.

We are in Whistler for 7 days, with 5 days on the mountain snowboarding. My only complaint is that we didn't know about this place until the 3rd day. The food was amazing! We had yam fries, regular huge steak fries, and the best tacos in town: pork belly tacos. Do yourself a huge favor and have a few of these. You will never look at tacos again -- a whole new standard to judge against. Ridiculously delicious!! The drinks were equally good and the service was top notch. Good eats in the middle of your day on the mountain. Skip the crazy crowded Whistler Village and head here instead. You deserve it.

I love the moose on the wall wearing a ladies bra as eyewear.

I love Merlin's which has great food, drinks, fantastic music and friendly staff. Their outdoor patio is perfect for hanging out apres ski with heated lamps. My favorite is their Okanagan Red Roof Apple Cider beer and Santa Fe Salad. It's is next to Blackcomb Gondola at the base.

We stopped in after our bobsleigh ride at Whistler Sliding Center. There was no wait as we were in-between meal times. We ordered drinks, the Giant Nachos and Poutine. That was enough to feed 5 of us and we were hungry! Fun atmosphere and views of the gondola.

When you walk in you're promptly greeted by the hosts. We came mid week and tried their spring menu which was 4 courses for 33 before tax and tip. The server was prompt and attentive with a sincere, friendly demeanour. They were out of the tomato soup so we got the chowder and some chips and salsa (not pictured). Both were so delicious. The chips were ultra thick and reminded me of eating bugles as a kid, but way higher class. The salmon and chicken were way larger portions than we had expect , and done to perfection. Chicken is a little spicy but this is the type of service and cooking I liiiiive for! If you've ever had any other Earls scratch that out of your mind because when you come here, this is literally the place to be. Sticky toffee pudding also wonderful. It's not like a pudding more like a mini chocolate cake with toffee, vanilla ice cream and this almond florentine style cookie. This place has always felt like one of those "special occasion only" restaurants that are usually out of reach. The special menu was such a steal and so wonderful!!! Araxi did not disappoint, though I'm disappointed in myself for missing their apres deal with a discounted fondue using cave aged gruyere! Definitely reserve ahead of time during peak season. They start you with fresh herbed ciabatta and sourdough with olive oil and butter, and both breads were great but especially so for our hungry kids. They had the most perfectly sharpened quality colored pencils and a coloring/activity sheet for the kids, which was much appreciated! Drinks: - The Cure: talisker 10, pineapple, mezcal float - Fig Jam: fig infused mezcal, apple cider, fig jam, spices - great to start They also had a good wine list, and they even had some local wines by the half bottle, which was a nice option, so we got a local Pinot. Food: - Oysters: island tide and kusshi, served with traditional mignonette and horseradish - Ricotta gnocchi: with wild mushrooms, cheesy lemon fonduta, crispy sage - a smaller portion but good for sharing as an appetizer - Pacific crab and matane shrimp cake: no fillers, perfectly seared, with a great local pear and avocado salsa verde - Seared scallops: perfectly seated, with local sunchokes, crispy prosciutto, grilled bok choy, xharred pepper romesco - Ora king salmon: similar to the kids' one but dressed up, with roasted beats, beet and ginger salsa, goat cheese arancini - House made bucatini: mentaiko style with spicy cod roe, humobldt squid, breadcrumbs. This had a nice kick, and the pasta texture was great - Kids' fish: seared salmon with risotto and bok choy - a generous portion of perfectly seared salmon! Dessert: - Valrhona chocolate fondant: warm gooey chocolate cake with tahitian vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate crisps Service was great and very kid friendly (including copper mule cups for their water!). We ordered a lot of food for 2 adults and 2 young kids, but everything was so great - every item was a hit. There's a reason why we keep coming back to Araxi!

My husband and I were were in Whistler for the weekend to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and decided on going to the Keg to get some good steak. We had an amazing time in all the Kegs we have ever visited. We mentioned it was a special anniversary on the online reservation and requested a special table near a nicer part of the restaurant. When we arrived and until the end of the evening, there was no mention at all of our anniversary and not even a congrats. Worse, we got the worse table in the area right near the bar...ugh! The steak was bland and veggies were undercooked covered in salt. We have been to the Kegs in Vancouver and they are all completely opposite in service and food quality. Every time we do a celebration at the Keg, we are welcomed and made to feel special and the service is outstanding. Nope not in Whistler. Our entire experience was disappointing and we felt like we had wasted our anniversary at this Keg. We normally get a dessert but after finishing our dinner, we were ready to get the heck out of here asap! Seriously this is the worse Keg in the whole of BC....
