We love their 7 cheese pizza. We had it for the first time last year. However, I called yesterday to order carry out and was told they were only doing dine in and delivery since they are busy by a woman who answered the phone. We don't feel safe dining indoors and are staying in Santa Rosa Beach area so delivery is not an option. As soon as I went on the website, I was able to order carry out. Our pizza was ready in the estimated time and great as usual, but it was weird to be lied to by whoever answered their phone. Searching for some local comfort food in the area, we stumble across Merlin's Pizza where there was a line wrapped outside. Hesitant we stopped in considering it must be good pizza if it seems so in demand. The line went quick and the place was packed with patrons enjoying their pizza as they were all seated with their families and friends. Minus the couple of tables that were blocked off because they honor the 6ft rule. Ordered a large supreme to go which took exactly 30 minutes to prepare. We loved the pizza so much. I can really see why this place is a hit. The meat on the pizza was a bit spicy and the vegetables had the right amount of crunch to it. Everything was very fresh. If I'm in the area again I'll definitely stop by if I'm in the mood for pizza. It's a must if you're a pizza lover like myself. Received a coupon in the mail for Merlin's Pizza for $4.00 off ANY Large pizza, so I called them to order an xtra large pizza for takeout. I mentioned I had the coupon. The guy I spoke with said the coupon was only good for large pizzas, not xtra large pizzas, but if I ordered the cheaper large pizza they would honor the coupon for 4 dollars off. Ok?? Cheese bread (ordered based on reviews here) was nothing special. Meatballs were sysco comes off a truck in a bag quality. Ordered via grub hub to go during COVID (when most restaurants were closed). Appreciate these guys being open and they had a big plexiglass window installed to keep people safe - but the employees couldn't hear me because they said it was too noisy in the back. Besides the delicious GF pizza (crust from Venice Bakery), Merlin's Pizza is everything I want a pizza place to be. It's tucked in a non-descript strip center. It's locally owned. It has cozy booths and tables. They play classic rock. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. I had a Caesar salad and a GF pepperoni pizza. The romaine in the Caesar was fresh and crisp. The dressing was Ken's, which is not the best but not bad. As for the pizza - the cheese, sauce, and pepperoni were all good quality and delicious. The crust was terrific. Crisp on the bottom and chewy in the right places. It's served in a tray with a bumpy bottom, which I think helps keep it crisp. I would seriously consider moving to Destin just to eat here. read more
