5.0 Stars Outstanding experience and great customer service…read more Yelp brought me here. I did a search for the top auto repair shops in my area and Craftsman was well on the list. Reviews were solid. Once I realized how close I was to two of their locations, I made a mental note to check it out. I called, they were welcoming over the phone and not in a spazzy rush like some of the other shops I had been calling around to. They took their time over the phone!!! I made an appointment to get some estimates, showed up, told them my concerns, and they checked out a few things going on with my car. Again, very welcoming in person as well. I came to get an estimate for front and rear brakes replacements, possible oil change, state inspection. As I waited, I skimmed through two books the owner had written! They said I could have a copy, so kept one. The owner has the right idea and it shows. The waiting area was cozy and super chill equipped with coffee and snacks and TV. What took the service over the top was how well the gentleman took to physically show me what was going on with my car. He also took pictures. In the front office we examined the photos and he explained, and educated me about what was going on and what needed attention and why it was relevant. He made additional recommendations based on car mileage and manufacturer recommended maintenance. We discussed pricing and I agreed to get some of the work done. They gave me a Lyft ride home. Called me when it was done a few hours later. Scheduled a Lyft for me to return. Back at the auto shop, I paid and I was on my way. I felt really impressed because they explained things about my car I had never known about in the 5 years of owning it. I felt educated and walked away understanding things better. In all the 20 years I've maintained cars, no shop has ever explained things to me the way they did. I must admit, I felt the labor fees were a bit steep. I felt my wallet go ouch! However, I feel extremely safe in my vehicle because of everything I learned. I will definitely, without a doubt return for future maintenance work and I will knock out some of the other recommended maintenance items in the near future. Highly recommend. Made an appointment to stop by during my lunch hour for an estimate. I arrived early, however, unfortunately I did not have enough time to wait for them to get to my car even though I was next in line. So I had to leave and go back to work. Even though I had to leave, the gentleman was understanding and explained a few of the services with me. I called later to speak with the same gentleman to reschedule and mentioned that another location was close to my home and I could go there on my work from home day. He was super patient with me and understanding of my time constraints. He recommended I call the other location and get a 7am appt to get the estimates so I could get it done before work. Perfect resolution!! I called the other location, got the work done and it was a 5 star experience. Now that I am familiar with both locations, I will use either one of them. Both locations were professional, welcoming over the phone, and just as patient in person and ready to work with me. Highly recommend.

But for the last 5 years or so, they are constantly making mistakes that required repeated visits. The latest was a big error that they installed a wrong size tire out of two I purchased. One was larger. They specialize in tires!! How can they not see the tire size before they put on!? As soon as I drove away w two new tires, TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) light came on. I calibrated on the panel every two miles w no luck. I went back right away. They told me to keep calibrating few times. Next day. I went back and had to drop it off so the most experienced tech can take it apart to see. He aligned again but didn't fix. Problem still exists. I called to talk to Mgr, Socrates AGAIN. He told me that he needed to ask the dealer and call me back. I never heard back. I gave up and waited until the next oil change at the dealer. I didn't find out till a 10 months later til I went to a dealer for oil change and tire rotation. The dealer told me that TPMS light is on bc one tire was larger than the rest of them. Not sure how this is going to affect my car in the long run. One was rotating slower than the other 3. Naturally I went back and made Socrates put the new correct size one on. They definitely lack the quality mechanics there. A bunch of high school auto mx class grads? They used to do just ok job for simple maintenance. But no more. I got in touch with Rosslyn automotive and tyco auto as well. I decided to give just tires a shot after reading reviews. I called and they told me to come in to get the tire inspected. They inspected the tire and noted that there was a leak as I suspected. Neil the sales manager then called BMW to see if they could replace the tire for me but of course they said they were independent and we're going to charge. Then the sales manager called Goodyear and managed to get 50% off the tire. I ended up getting the tire with just tires, got hazard insurance and balance and tax came to 1/3 the cost at BMW. I'm very happy with my experience but not too happy with BMW.

Got safety inspection and they called and stated I had to get the tag light and tire fix today or they were going to reject my inspection and didn't let me know that I had 15 days per Virginia law to get it fix and to get inspected again, the most they could charge me was exactly $1.00 per law.
