Really disappointed with experience 5/22/19 between 6-7 pm. Phoned in an order and was told 15 minutes. I arrived shortly thereafter and was met with utter chaos - long line, and at least one customer with a delayed order. I got to the front and told the guy my order. He didn't really respond- just turned around and started baking several pizzas. After 5 or so minutes with no update i split. This is a disappointment because when I lived in the neighborhood I was a frequent customer with no issues. Stopped by this place after a long day at the San Diego Zoo. We were starving and wanted something to eat before we headed back home to Los Angeles. Looked up this place and saw it had decent reviews so we decided to give it a try. First impressions were decent, the lady that took our order was nice and the price was fair. Waited about 15 minutes for the pizza to be ready. We took it to go and this is where it turned bad. As we smelled the pizza and were eager to dig in, we noticed the pizza looked a little off. We took a bite and the cheese was low quality because it did not melt. It had this rubbery consistency. The pepperoni had no flavor other than this odd pork flavor. It tasted almost like it was past its prime. It's hard to explain but it was not a pleasant flavor. To top it off, the crust had no taste to it other than cardboard. The standard menu being $5 for 1 topping pizza, $8.99 for a 5 topping build your own pizza, $1.99 breadsticks with marinara sauce, you get the idea. No crazy, fancy concoctions unless they're advertising one or you request it. There are coupons for hard to pass up deals. I chose their special of 3/$15 2 topping Large pizzas. The rest I purchased a la carte. Their 2 liter sodas are $2.25 when not a part of a deal. For $40.47, I purchased a total of 5 Large pizzas (3-2 toppings, 1-1 topping, & 1-5 toppings), 2-2 liter sodas, and 2 order of breadsticks with marinara sauce. Definitely a great deal for the amount I purchased. For a budget friendly pizza place, I am impressed not only with the price but with the fast turnaround service and the taste. For the 5 pizzas purchased, I was in and out of there within 20 minutes. The ingredients are fresh, the taste standard of what I expect from any pizza place, and I definitely recommend the 5 topping build your own pizza. I was a little skeptical about trying Mesa pizza because I'm a believer that you get what you pay for. I researched them and found that they have deals that seem too good to be true. This was comical to me because the wait for two large, one topping pizzas (pepperoni and sausage) was 8 minutes, where most pizza places make you wait 15-20 minutes for one pizza. Sure enough, 8 minutes later, my pizzas were ready. Needless to say, I was impressed. The pizza tasted good, not to mention I only paid about $10 total for both pizzas. That's right. Earlier that day, I had searched online for coupons and looked through my Entertainment book that offers buy one get one pizzas at certain restaurants and I still couldn't find deal better than this one. I came across this place coming home from Mesa college and decided to give it a try, it turned out to be a good decision. Fast forward to today and the quality of the pizza has gone down, decent amount of toppings, very little sauce and I asked for extra sauce I was given a pizza that still didn't have much sauce, I tried little caesers the other day and would rather pay the extra 1.50 on a brand that was cheap and you could taste it; now little Caesar pizza had rebranded itself and the sauce is much better and the amount is prefect. I have seen the pizza makers at Mesa pizza skim the sauce instead of pouring the full scoop of the laddle.
