I just came here for my first time and I had a wonderful experience! So I called for a pick up order and the guy who answered was incredibly kind- I'm not kidding this customer Service was genuinely so sweet. He took my order was very polite and apologetic that the pizza would take 30 minutes which I thought was an impressive short time! I later found out this was the owners son who was taking the calls. He's awesome! 10/10 customer service and efficiency. We did a large pepperoni and sausage pizza and it was delicious! This is a local Santa Barbara family owned restaurant ! Please come here for local delicious pizza instead of going to big chain pizza places- and try to do pick up! Delivery food apps unfortunately take a large profit from them. I like the food at Mesa Pizza a lot. The white chicken pizza is quite good, with a nice garlicky sauce that isn't too heavy or greasy, and the chicken is white meat. They make their ranch dressing homemade and it is so good! I am picky about ranch and the one at Mesa is one of the best in town. Very creamy and properly (not overpoweringly) seasoned. Get some breadsticks to dip in the ranch dressing. The only thing I don't like is that they are fairly expensive ($38 for medium pizza, garlic bread, and ranch) and they aren't on DoorDash, so we had to pick it up. I tried this place after reading the reviews one night. I'm always on the hunt for a good pizza place in Santa Barbara since I lived and breathed east coast pizza for 4 years and this is probably the best pizza I've had in SB since moving here about a year ago. I ordered a large Mesa Special and the total was ~$20. Pizza could've been hotter but was delicious nonetheless. It's hard to mess up pizza! I do think they could've added a lot more pizza sauce and cooked our pizza just a minute or two less (bottom was a bit dark) but I do appreciate how they loaded the pizza with tons of toppings. Mesa pizza is unique and great. I do think it matters what you order and what size for that matter. I have had a soggy pizza by ordering a large with too many toppings. But my go-to with my daughter is to call in ahead, eat there and get a small pepperoni and pineapple with their homemade ranch. I have observed that the thickness of the dough, the crispness of the bottom, and overall experience is by far the best with the small pizza. I just find myself craving it at least every couple weeks. The homemade ranch is unique, and the pizza texture and flavor is on point for this order. We were trying to order 3 large family size pizzas and they would not take our order over the phone. Being a huge pizza lover, I decided to try Mesa Pizza. The interior of the restaurant looked a little outdated but regardless I was excited to have some dinner. We ordered a small Hawaiian pizza, ravioli and drinks. I ordered a glass of moscato which tasted very sweet, crisp and refreshing! The ravioli was warm, tender and super creamy! I would definitely get the ravioli again. However, I was a bit disappointed with the pizza. For some reason, I got a cardboard/rubbery taste to the first slices of pizza. The overall taste was pretty good but I wish I hadn't gotten that taste in the first place. The pizza was super cheesy which compensated for it. The pizza was ok, but definitely nothing out of this world. I'm definitely willing to give this place another try though and hopefully I enjoy the pizza a bit more! read more

This is a great local pizza spot on the Mesa. One of my favorite choices for pizza and they're relatively fast serving. They make excellent pizza for a reasonable price. One thing that makes them stand out is the abundance of toppings that are given, which I love. I recommend the Garden Pesto Pizza. I also really like their crust in terms of thickness and the countering of soft and crunchy. Next visit, I may take the calzone for a spin. This place and Paxtis are my favorite pizza places in Santa Barbara. Although I would only get Paxti for their Chicago style. Mesa pizza gives generous amount of topping and their crust is nice and crispy. Their pizza doesn't taste like cheap frozen pizza like a lot of other pizza around Santa Barbara. Not sure how well it would do for delivery, but for the next day left overs, I baked it in the oven and it was good Their chicken wings had a nice seasoning to it - dry rub style, and had option to dip it in their ranch sauce. Gluten free pizza was fine, but not what I was expecting based on other reviews. Pros: good amount of toppings on the pizza, toppings were fresh, and pizza was ready on time, pesto was really good Cons: way too much red sauce on pizza and not enough cheese (which surprised me given the pictures I've seen on Yelp), a side of ranch is $1.00 Overall I will probably try this place again, but I won't be craving it by any means. Gluten free crust was fine, and the pesto pizza was better tasting than the one with red sauce. The red sauce was really overpowering and there was just too much of it (I scooped it off in globs to get rid of some of it.). Next time I'll ask for light sauce. read more

I am beating myself up for not trying Mesa Pizza earlier. This is my first time here, even though I live within walking distance. It's hard to find a pizza place that isn't overly salty or greasy. Mesa Pizza understands the local values of freshness and creativity; essentially, they've created a unique California pizza joint that's relatively healthy (relative because it is still pizza!) They work within nearly impossible standards! But Mesa Pizza seems to create the right balance. The gentleman who works there seems to have been there for decades; he treats his customers with care and respect. The toppings on the pizzas are loaded: no stinginess, and for a moment, I forgot we were in the middle of a shrinkflation economy. Not here! They were generous with their fresh toppings and the size of the pizza. I finished my tasty pizza without feeling miserable afterwards. This is easily the best pizza in SB. I have NO idea what the 1 star reviewers are talking about when they say you can't order by phone. I'm literally eating a pizza that I called in 30 mins before they closed AND IT IS DELICIOUS. I suppose the only drawback (if we're splitting hairs) would be for folks who are averse to garlic, because their pizza is quite garlicky, but I find that to be an asset. Also, at most pizza places if you want a wheat or gluten-free crust, you're stuck with whatever thickness they want to give you. I picked up a white chicken/BBQ chicken pizza from Mesa last night. Ordering was easy and pleasant and my order was ready at the time they said it would be. Fast forward... this pizza was absolutely delicious. The herbs they used were so fresh and bold. The basil and garlic was amazing. The cheese was sharp, sauce perfect, chicken had a smoky grilled thing going on. The crust had a nice crisp on the edges. Everything I wanted from a pizza. Mesa does pizza well! Let me tell you, the good review starts all the way at the phone call for pick up. The man I spoke to was friendly and offered his recommendations which we happily took. I tried their white chicken pizza a couple nights ago and absolutely loved it. I'm a garlic lover so their white garlic sauce hit the spot for me. I nearly made the mistake of doing the Santa Barbara delight pizza with the red sauce instead of the recommended white. Luckily, Vir convinced me that the recommended flavor combinations are there for a reason and I was not disappointed. Creamy, great garlic, delicious. Decided to try a new pizza place and this place was okay. I made by own pizza and got chicken and mushrooms with garlic and vegan cheese. The cheese compared to other places I've been to was good as it melted really good. Another thing I really liked was the crust of the pizza that was soft yet crunchy. The one thing that did bother me was that they were trying to give me small for one of my orders when it was a medium while charging me the same price which was disappointing but they did remake my pizza to the correct size. They are HUGE. Got a medium pizza 12" and it can easily feed two people They are very dense and very filling, not at all what I expected. They are obscenely layered in toppings the meat lovers was over the top.Every pizza is their own take on. It, sadly the margarita pizza is covered in tomato's and I'm not just meaning sauce.
