The pizza is good but $6.45 /slice is a bit too much, they told me in advance that it was huge...it's not. Crust was too thin to be folded. I recently visited during a day trip from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara. My boyfriend and I were walking by and a man was standing outside with samples of freshly made pizza. We each tried a slice and we were hooked. We went inside and ordered a 12 inch pepperoni pizza. It was made right in front of us with fresh ingredients and cooked in a wood fired oven. The restaurant appeared to be very clean and had a great casual ambiance. The staff was friendly and professional. They took great care when it came to the presentation of their product. The cashier even opened up our bottles of beer and poured them into a glass before we walked away from the register. The pizza was a classic and delicious thin crust pizza. Of all the pizzerias on State Street, I chose to check out Persona.. I wish I went somewhere else though. My friends were hungry and didn't want to walk too far, oh well. The restaurant is next to Forever 21. There's plenty of street parking around the area, usually for 75 minutes only (parking tickets are serious, I hear). It was not busy even though it was dinner time. The servers seemed like they were standing around, joking with one another, trying to pass the time. There was a lot of room to sit inside and tables were pretty clean. The pizzas at Persona are like the ones at Pieology. You get a thin crust and add your own toppings. However, the difference is Persona charges $1.25 per topping and Pieology charges nothing per topping. Good thing I just wanted the margherita pizza because I wanted fresh mozzarella cheese. If I were hungrier, I'd be paying for a $20 pizza for all the additional toppings.. The pizza was very underwhelming. The mozzarella was just eh, and they could have added more basil or marinara. Maybe I'll have to try their specialty pizzas ($11) that they have designed already. Overall nothing was impressive here. They have flat screen menus above the assembly line of ingredients. The pizzas are oven-fired, which is nice. I'll give them two stars. read more

It is not certified authentic Neapolitan pizza, but in this pizza deprived city, I am not hesitant to say that Persona is the best pizzeria in SB right now. What pushes this place to a 5 star is the gelato, which is sourced from My Vienna in Beverley Hills and better than any other gelato places in town. The fruit flavored ones are technically called sorbetto. They are intensely fruity and so creamy that it is nothing short of amazing for being dairy free. We stopped here on a Sunday evening to try to gluten free pizza. The pizza was great, and the gf crust was tasty; sometimes gluten free pizza can be a bit dry, but the dough was more moist than expected, and the taste was better than 90% of the gf pizzas I've tasted. I had the prosciutto di ensalada, and my son had regular cheese. You can also make a custom pizza, if you want, which is good if you have a sensitive stomach. When was the last time you had fresh pizza? I know that I often end up with slices that have been sitting under a heating lamp or in a Domino's delivery bag, so to have fresh pizza at a sit-down restaurant is a rare treat. Persona certainly does not miss the mark there. Their Axxess deal is a buy one, get one affair, so my significant other and I tried their 12-inch carne pizza and a meatball, pepperoni, and spinach calzone. Due to the ash, there were few people on State St. that day, and virtually no one in the pizzeria. We tacked on a drink to try flavors on their freestyle soda machine for $2.75, bringing our total to $13.68 after the buy one, get one deal. My go-to is vanilla-cherry Coke or a mix of Coke and lemonade, but you can do almost anything with a freestyle soda machine. It stopped dispensing about half the flavors after a while, which disappointed us. Both dishes came out piping hot on silver platters. The carne is, as advertised, chockful of meats and a little bit of garlic, so you can proudly boast you ate some vegetable. The guy who made our pie distributed the pepperonis really evenly. We didn't finish this while at the restaurant so we took it home, and I can happily say that their pizzas reheat very nicely if you give it 10 or so minutes in a 375° F oven. We did, however, polish off the calzone, which was a bit more impressive than the pizza. The crust was crisp, and the overload of cheese was perfect. Ricotta is not usually part of my order, but the textural contrast between that and the brittle crust was nice. It would have been better, my significant other thought, had the marinara on the side been warmed up. It is way cheaper to order off of their preset menu than it is to build your own pie, so if I return in the future, that's probably the way I'm going to go. $12-13 isn't bad for something that will likely last me two meals, anyway. read more

Food took 1 1/2 hrs to arrive and what we got tasted like frozen pizza and frozen cheesy bread. I was in Santa Barbara this past weekend. I ordered a buffalo wings appetizer and they had a fresh taste and were delicious., baked but they had a good crunch and the sauce was very good. They have a bar b q sauce, they gave me a taster of and that was very tasty as well. For the pizza I had a small carne which had sausage, pepperoni and I think a Italian ham. I enjoyed the crust, sauce and cheese. The ranch dipping sauce for the crust was a nice touch. I couldn't quite finish and I ended up fishing the next night at 3 am. The table next to me was eating the baked pasta and I think Ill try that next time. I had a draft beer that was excellent. You can taste that the ingredients are very fresh. We were walking down State Street looking for a quick dinner before a show and the smell coming out of the building caught our attention. At $11.99 for a 12 inch pizza, it seemed like a good deal. The first person you talk to will ask you what size pizza you want since there's also a large one that is 16 inches. The next one confirms which kind since you choose a pre-made selection or build your own. We went ahead with the Chipotle Chicken, their signature pizza. Compared to places like Blaze, we found this one to be of higher quality for a minimal price increase, and it was worth it. It does come with a lot of sauce between lots of chipotle and crema sauces. So ask for less if that's a concern for you. Crispy slightly burnt crust was perfect. Side salad for $5.99 was an okay deal. It was just lettuce, tomatoes and onions but at least the onions were pickled which I love. You also get your choice of dressing. After you pay, you can sit and wait. Listen for your number though or they'll just leave it sitting at the counter. Overall we were very satisfied here, great food and good prices. read more

I have heard such great things about this place and am hoping my visit was not the norm. I came in December but just noticed my review didn't post then. Nothing is worst than Burnt pizza! Shame on us for not sending it back but my husband believes you shouldn't do that, plus after we got our pizzas there was a very long line. They also forgot to cut one of the pizzas so I had to go back and they ended up cutting it in all different uneven sizes. I threw my pizza away after the first slice since I could not get past the burnt taste. The restroom was completely disgusting. The men's was out of order so there was only one restroom.
