Had our anniversary dinner here and had a blast. Lots of seasonal dishes that were great, but the dates and ham were highlights.

I've had several birthday gatherings here. The patio is a beautiful brick. The inside is unique and lovely. It's an old mansion so the rooms are different sizes and more intimate than a large dining room. Since I had a group of 10 or 15 people I pre-planned my menu and ordered in different rounds to prevent ordering chaos. The waitress was so helpful and everything went smoothly. Firstly, the garden area and banquet halls here are gorgeous and the ambiance is wonderful! Definitely sit outside if you have the option and make a reservation. Even on weekdays it's hopping. Bathrooms were very nice - like they have lotion and mouthwash nice. :) Service was good but could have been faster and more attentive. It was very hot and we ran out of water twice. Some enthusiasm and recommendations right after seating us would have been nice too. The tapas selection was excellent! Everything was well marked for dietary restrictions (vegan, vegetarian, etc). Almost everything on the menu is fantastic especially the chorizo, cheeses, and salmon dishes. The paella and bacon wrapped dates were a little bland which was disappointing. And the patatas fritas could have been cooked better, the potatoes were too big and the centers lacked flavor because of this. Finally, the Sangrias were watered down and pretty flavorless. Overall a good place for a semi-formal dinner with groups. Great atmosphere and menu but overpriced for what you're getting. read more

I always enjoy this place. The surroundings are nice (I like restaurants in old buildings) and the food is good. We come back every few years when we want a nice dinner but don't want to travel to the city to get something really good. What I don't like: the food is always good, but never great, and it's a bit expensive. It always tastes like something that could easily be made at home. Even the sangria is pretty unremarkable - and how hard is it to make great sangria for a Spanish place?? For example: we had stuffed mushrooms, halibut, empanada, and steak. The mushrooms basically tasted like pizza with mushrooms on it (good, but pizza!), the fish tasted like simple preparation (good, unexceptional, fish was fine quality), the empanada was good just by virtue of being what it was (but a dull empanada), and the steak was solid but again, forgettable. You know what would be great at a place like this? A picky, creative chef that cared about flavors. That would make it a real destination. In summary: comfort food on little plates with Spanish names. Or, really well done wedding food. You know what I mean? read more

The only reason I am giving this place five stars is because Yelp won't let me give it six. This place is awesome! I looked at some of the ones star reviews and they all seem to complain about Service. Apparently these people have never been outside of McDonald's and they're not used to slower European style service. The food is awesome and just like Spain. I truly don't understand why so many people rave about this place. I went there for a Christmas party and was completely underwhelmed by the food (it was extremely bland) and the prices were outrageous. For starters, the bread was stale. Then our table ordered the Campesina (Paella) and it was tasteless - we struggled to find any chicken. Next was $12.95 for the bacon dates. They only gave FOUR tiny dates!!! They were good, but not worth almost $3.25 each. The Pollo a Limon is truly a non-shareable dish that was barely a normal serving and was nothing special. The only item the table raved about were the scallops, but even this they messed up. The waitress took the liberty of adding on an extra scallop so there would be one for each person even though I did not want one and we didn't ask for that. This place is just a complete rip off and I cannot say enough bad about it. Save your money and go elsewhere. I ended up going home and had leftovers that blew that meal away. read more

Went here for a holiday family dinner, it was good! This place is fancy, I loved how it was decorated for Christmas. We had made a reservation but the table they set us at didn't allow us enough room to exchange presents, so we requested a different spot and they were really cooperative and patient. Some of us got full meals and some got tapas. I got patatas bravas and the vegetable pasta. This ended up being too much after sharing tapas with my family members! I also got to try the goat cheese with garlic bread and artichoke hearts. I think my favorite thing was the goat cheese. My boyfriend is incredibly picky, but he liked the lemon chicken he got. Neighborhood treasure for sure. While traveling for work, my manager took me to this place for dinner. I knew to trust her recommendation and I'm so glad I did! We ordered our drinks and perused the extensive menu. Hubby got the Ahi Tuna special. He said it was the very best he's ever had, and he orders that every time we are out! What a great concept for a tapas restaurant! A historic mansion + great food = a great girls night out! Please see my pictures for the names of all the different tapas that I tried. I couldn't remember all of the Spanish names so I just captioned them with the ingredients. Mostly everything that we had that night was great. I didn't care for the artichokes, nor the duck confrit. I loved the goat cheese dip, the almond cake dessert, and the SANGRIA! The more people you come with, the better. That way, you can order more items! The venue was beautiful. It really is a mansion comprised of many different rooms on 2 levels. Feels very cozy, like your dining at your rich grandma's house lol. There are mini rooms if you wanted somewhat of a private area, however, others can still see you as thin white curtains separate the semi private rooms. Very cute concept. The service was excellent. We were always attended to and my water glass never was empty. There was always someone around for us to place are orders, as I came with 5 other hungry females! We were very well taken care of. This place had great flavors. Turning in you are in shock with the beauty of the entire estate. We sat and it is a Tapas style restaurant (meaning you get smaller portions to share and pass around). Once seated you will be given Olives in a delicious Olive Oil and some sliced bread. You can pair your meal with a nice wine. They have a detailed selection of different wines (some very expensive). If you have any questions the waiter will help you with your experience by giving their recommendations. My recommendation? Queso de Cabra which is an oven baked goat cheese with tomato basil sauce and garlic bread. It had such rich flavors and helped give us something to fill up on. The pricing is a bit steep for the serving sizes, but as long as you don't mind paying a little more the flavors are out of this world! Enjoy ! read more

We booked a wedding for 10/01/2022 at a price of $7k. We signed a contract and put down a deposit of $750 and were all set. The next day we got a call from the event coordinator saying that the owner had nearly doubled the price to $13k. As a courtesy he would allow us to have the wedding for $10k. We were taken upstairs to this almost empty room to eat while the large majority of customers were seated in grand halls and rooms on the main floor. I do not recommend going with Meson for your wedding or any event. Awful business bait and switch practices. We came in to book a wedding yesterday, signed the contract for a reservation of food and beverage minimum for $7000. The next day the event planner called us and told us the new price is $13,000 minimum AFTER we had signed the contract and the $7000 minimum was the COVID-19 pricing. We were given a written price of $7000 AND the pricing is still on the website. We were told that the person updating the pricing never did it. Owner offered to give us the venue for $10,000, $3000 OVER what we signed in our contract out of "good faith". Seriously? I will NEVER eat here or plan anything here again. WORST. EXPERIENCE. I've eaten here at least half a dozen times since I moved to Naperville, generally for some sort of special occasion (birthdays, even a first date!), and this week-end returned with two friends to have a "girls' night out" and celebrate one friend's new job. Happy to say that Meson Sebika is still consistent and enjoyable! We had a reservation and were seated on the ground floor this time so we didn't feel hidden away (the rooms are named, and we were in the "Pulpo" room, presumably named for the big octopus plate on the wall). Meson Sabika is known for Tapas, so that's what we did (as usual). What did we eat, you ask? Well... - Patatas con Aioli: cold garlicky potato salad. YOU MUST GET THIS if nothing else. So good (and so garlicky, so make sure everyone in the party eats it, haha!) One friend revealed that they actually sell it to go as well! - Crepe Rellena: I have enjoyed this one in the past and did again! A thin, crispy crepe (more like phyllo than an eggier French crepe, really) is wrapped egg-roll-style around apples, goat cheese, pine nuts and spinach and served with a delicious sweet red pepper sauce. A favorite with everyone. - Croquetas de Jamon y Pollo: ham and cheese deep fried into little fingers (that looked like fish sticks). These were tasty, though I could have lived without the tomato sauce. - Empanada de Buey: ground beef and mushrooms wrapped in puff pastry with cheese and tomato sauce. I preferred this to the other beef plate we had which came cold. - Rollito de Buey: The arrangement of this one was slightly strange but the elements were all tasty. A filling of blue cheese, dates and pine nuts were wrapped in thinly sliced beef tenderloin (cooked rare). Served cold, which was a little unexpected, but the tastes were good. - Tortilla Espanola: Spanish omelet with onion and potato. We all agreed this one would have been more appealing if served hot. We went with three desserts that we shared, and this is what pushed my review up to five stars! I literally could not choose a favorite among the Crema de Chocolate (chocolate creme brulee), Tarta de Pacanas (Pecan cheesecake with caramel and dark chocolate sauces) and Cazuelita de Chocolate (molten chocolate cake served with caramel ice cream). In a word, YUM!!! We also enjoyed the non-alcoholic sangria in a pitcher (which looked small but we had many drink refills from it!) Our waitress was on the ball and good about being there for ordering another round, and graciously split our check. The bussers removed the used plates in a timely manner (important when you are eating tapas, as they pile up quickly!) Definitely recommended in Naperville for a fancy night out! read more

In a land of soccer mom's, mansions with porches that stretch the full radius of the house and big dreams most likely full of debt, lies Meson Sabika. This Spanish Tapas restaurant is housed in an old mansion in Naperville, IL and is the destination of choice for dates and groups with friends. If you start with drink, the caipirinha's are a good choice. Buyer beware, it's a bit on the strong side. You can go for something a bit more sweeter, like a passion fruit martini, or a name that's similar (I'm not very good with names). I suggest starting with cold plates first. My absolute favorite is the duck on toasts. It's a smokey duck with capers and it's delish! I loved the gazpacho soup, too. The have some cold plates with tuna (as in tuna salad) and I wonder why the heck that is even on the menu. The hot plates are great, too. Lots to try, the squid, octopus, duck, goat cheese, all very delicious. Their desserts weren't bad, but I've had better. Desserts are a solid meh. The service is great and staff are very helpful. If I could give a zero star I would. Worst ever service ! Wouldn't let me bring in a birthday cake and put our party of 14 right by the front door where anyone would go in and out. Forced us to bring our cake home! They could've informed me when the host called me earlier to confirm my reservation. Asked for a more private table, the person in charge/ manager kept interrupting and cutting me off and the server were rolling her eyes while serving our drinks. We asked for glasses for our Sangria, I don't remember how many we requested and it wasn't enough for our party but she made sure that she corrected us by telling us " you've have asked for 7"The first time in my life I feel discriminated against because we didn't look rich enough for them and the color of our skin was different. I never liked bringing the race card up but this establishment clearly promote racist stereotypes. We ended up leaving and went to another restaurant. For our party we could have easily spent over $2000. I LOVE Meson Sabika. We went for dinner last night - the service is prompt, and the food is spectacular! The menu is really big, I'm amazed how quickly they can get your order to you. And it's absolutely delicious. There's an extensive wine list, too. There are options for every budget and lifestyle - vegetarian, gluten-free, meat-lover. It can be a LOUD place - make sure to make reservations ahead of time, and request one of the quieter areas if you're looking for easy conversation.
