I went to mesquite Mexican Berlin bar today. For lunch, I got it to go actually and my black beans were cold. I don't know why that is, but I had the fajita tacos and they were excellent. The rice is good service is good server was good, and it's a really good place to go and eat here in Jackson on the square. We stopped in for lunch while in town visiting friends for a wedding. This place is really nice inside, lots of bright decor and art. Parking was a breeze and we were seated immediately. The service was good and really fast. I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita and it was pretty much just juice, there was very minimal tequila for the price tag of $17. Honestly, everything was a bit pricey. For food, I ordered the mango salmon and mashed potatoes. It was pretty good until about half way through I noticed a dead fly laying face up on my plate. It was pretty bad and the fly didn't just happen to land there it was in the sauce under the salmon. I let our server know and he let his manager know. Not one person apologized or even seemed to care that I had an entire dead fly in my food. The manager just said they'd send another one and it "may take a while". I ended up telling my server I didn't want it anymore and just don't worry about it. He didn't understand me and they still brought out a new plate. I was with a party of 9 and by the time it came out everyone was done eating. We asked to have it removed from the bill and they did remove it then. But we shouldn't have had to ask. Also, my meal price on the menu was $17 and on the receipt it was $19. So that was odd. Before I noticed the fly, my meal was good. But after that it was downhill. I hope things improve at this spot. First off the food is pretty good. The bartender Elizabeth is great. My warning is don't order to go because you get screwed. Thursday I ordered the carnitas to go, I was expecting chunks of pork, but what I got was little pieces and very little meat. The charro beans was more like soup than substance. The food here is FANTASTIC. I personally ordered the pollo asado and it was a very nice blend with the sautéed vegetables and cheese. We had a huge party of almost 20 people and yet the waiters got everyone's drink out very quickly and the food followed not even ten minutes later. Staff was very friendly. This is my small town favorite. Love the aesthetic love the ambience love it every time I go there the staff is wonderful. Food is cool. They've tried to stick to authentic Mexican food The best they can. (I'm from Cali so I may be a little biased). But the South as a palate for more of a Text Mex flavor and texture. I would not recommend this place took my family there ordered a two-year-old and a four-year-old kids meal, which ended up costing me almost $14 apiece because we put grilled chicken on their taco instead of shredded chicken not knowing there was a five dollar a piece upgrade charge for that and when I brought it to the attention of the manager, that this was not informed to us he said sorry ma'am there is an upgrade charge and you already got the chicken. This will be the second time I have been here and the last time was a couple months ago and the food was really good. They have street parking and in Jackson, it is free for 2 hours and this was Sunday around 5 PM and parking was not a problem. They have a full bar and Draught beer thank goodness and you can get a 32 oz one .. yea!. They have a few domestics and of course Mexican beers. As with every Mexican restaurants, they make great margaritas. The have tables, booths and a bar that seats maybe 8-10 people. The chips they bring out are nice and crisp and light. Much better than many I have had at other places. I ordered a Molcajete, which has chicken, shrimp, grilled pork and steak and lots of other stuff served in a cool Volcano rock bowl. It also includes tortilla shells and a plate of beans and rice. It was huge and quite a bit for 14 dollars ... enough to share. I found it very tasty but some of the meat was grisly and actually had to spit some out into a napkin. I wish I could remember the cheese and meat cheese bowl as an appetizer. IT was awesome .. I added a messy picture of it... sorry... The service was great and the food was very good. I was a little concerned because some of the meat was grissly and took away from the overall experience. Standard Mexican fare with a sports bar kinda feel. The food is moderately priced and the portions are moderate as well. The highlight of the experience was the warm, thin, and deliciously crispy chips. Two kinds of salsa were also brought to the table. Neither were too spicy but both were flavorful. We also ordered a cheese dip, which my son loved! We fed the family of 5 for about $65 (3 of us had water to drink). There are large TVs playing various sports and music going as well. There is also a bar that is in the center of the main dining room, so it's pretty loud and busy. The wait staff was pretty attentive and kept our cups full. We enjoyed it and will be back but probably not for a date when we want to talk. It's a nice place for a fun meal with family and friends. read more

Do not eat here. I have been here many times but will no longer be returning. The past few times there have been roaches crawling on the walls and tables. I was absolutely disgusted. The staff did not do anything about it when notified. I have heard many people comment about their roach problem, yet nothing has been done. My husband and I went for dinner here for the first time tonight. It was around 7 and the place was packed. The set up is not great in my opinion. You have no privacy and it's too loud to even talk. We felt like we were packed in like sardines. It took 10 minutes for anyone to even come to our table and at least 10 more minutes and 3 reminders to get our drinks. My husband ordered a dish that was supposed to come with shrimp and there were no shrimp though the manager did bring some on the side after being notified.
