    3 choice taco and bowl
    Evonne C.

Was at the first thursday of the month market and stopped by the food truck! It was popular amongst the other trucks and I got their 3 choice tacos! They were a bit pricey ($15 for 3 tacos) but they tasted pretty great! I got the pollo asado, cochinita pibil, and carne asada all super delicious. My favorite was the carne asada as the grilled beef was super flavorful! Their burrito and bowls also look super good and will definitely try next time!

Solid food truck in the city if you are looking for something quick to eat! They have some interesting items, including the salbutes which I never heard of but are basically corn tortilla tacos with melted cheese. I got the cauliflower tacos as a vegetarian, and they were nice. Cauliflower was cooked and spiced nicely, but nothing too amazing. The corn tortilla and the melted cheese however were really good. The salsas they gave on the side were also spicy. They are a bit pricey however for two okay sized tacos, so if you are just getting an order of salbutes make sure you aren't that hungry or have some snacks to complement. Good concept of a Mexican street food truck otherwise!

Long lines where they were a little slow to take orders, but fast to make your food once you did order. High quality and tasty for sure. Though I spent over $15 for 3 tacos that weren't very filling, so I was hungry like an hour later. Pollo Asado Taco: Surpassingly tasty for grilled chicken. Really enjoyed whatever sauce they used. And the big piece of avocado and tomato were nice too, almost like have a club sandwich in taco form. Cochinita Pibil Taco: The most unique and flavorful of the tacos. The pork was so tender and the spices were great. Dressed only with pickled onions and cilantro, this meat really didn't need much more since it was delicious in its own right. Carne Asada Taco: I'm a fan of carne asada, but so many places make it too thick and/or soggy. They made it just right here with thin cuts charred nicely and cut into large squares. I think if I was going to try a burrito or quesadilla, this would be my meat choice. Chipotle could really learn something from them.

Mestizo was parked outside Salesforce today and decided to grab a bite. Prices are tad bit on the high end for a food truck. I mean $15 for two tacos is a little steep, don't you think? I ordered some chicken Salbutes which I thought was pretty tasty but a little on the greasy side. It had pickled onions, avocado and tomatoes with a tangy sauce. The fried handmade taco shells would have been delicious if it was not soaked up in grease. Overall, I would have liked the food better if it was a tad bit cheaper and not so greasy.

Mestizo is a new food truck in the town that you must try, delicious food and they serve authentic Mexican food, the staff is super friendly and helpful, highly recommend it!!.

    Pollo asado bowl

I grabbed lunch from the Mestizo truck at the Winter Walk in downtown SF. My pollo asado bowl was prettily composed and delicious. They were very generous with the avocado and with the juicy chicken.

Wow. In a food truck park of mostly good options, after you eat here there will be no other options except Mestizo. I had panuchos with carne aside (+lime juice and hot sauce). They basically were the equivalent of a mic drop. Props to these people. They're going places in life. I will be back.

    Platanos and veggie tacos
    Christina M.

Tried this truck for the first time on Saturday at Spark Social and glad I did! I got the veggie tacos and platanos. The platanos were perfectly cooked and came with a delicious crema/sour cream sauce. The tacos were so so good, the tortillas were fried and filled with beans, then the toppings were flavorful veggies. Will certainly be back again for more!

Open air, a mix of food trucks, people hanging out, dogs everywhere, and that easy San Francisco energy where you can show up however you are and it fits. It never feels like a production, just a good place to land. We have eaten our way through a decent chunk of the trucks at this point, and that is half the fun. One day it is something messy and indulgent, the next it is lighter, but it always hits. Grabbing a drink, finding a spot at the picnic tables, and slowly settling in as the place fills up is kind of the rhythm. It is social without being overwhelming, lively without being chaotic. What keeps us coming back is how consistent it feels in the best way. It is easy, flexible, and always a good time whether you stay for an hour or lose an entire afternoon there. It is the kind of spot that turns into a routine before you even realize it, and honestly, we are not mad about it.

Beyond that, the food and drinks are all food truck based. They are all quite good, and there's a wide variety of items. This also means a good variety for folks with different dietary needs, because they are mostly picking their own food. I have always enjoyed my time here, whether it's on company dime or if I'm just hanging out with friends. I do wish that there are more heaters around for the colder days but that's just life in the bay! It can be kind of cold and foggy all seasons here, so if you have a solid group of folks I'd recommend reserving a spot with a fire pit. One more note: parking can be tough. You either have to circle around for street parking, or rideshare here.

I was getting hungrier watching them make each sandwich. Luckily once I ordered and paid, they immediately hand you one that's already made so you don't have to wait. I normally don't buy lunch when I'm in the office. I usually do meal preps, but now, I check their calendar to see if they're going to be at the Ferry Building so I can pick up a sandwich for lunch. That's how much I like them. And even pitching the idea of getting catering from them for our next work gathering. Expect to wait in line for chicken and the porchetta sandwich during lunch hours. WHOLE ROLIROTI GOURMET ROTISSERIE CHICKEN ~ dark meat was good while the white meat was dry. They need some kind of dipping sauce or something for it. Seasoning was not evenly spread out so some parts were saltier on the skin. Lots of herbs like thyme and rosemary. Just too bad the meat didn't stay juicy. 3.5/5 ROTISSERIE PORCHETTA SANDWICH ~ skin was crispy and burnt, so it was bitter yet crunchy. Pork was tender, but I didn't taste much of the jam. I did not like the bitter burnt skin. I personally thought it threw the flavor off. If it wasn't bitter, it would have scored higher. I always enjoy bread toasted when having a sandwich. Sadly, they don't toast it. My friend loves this sandwich and told me the skin wasn't supposed to be crunchy and burnt! So I'm assuming this wasn't typical. 3/5 The 4 of us shared the whole chicken and split the porchetta sandwich. But hearing that the sandwich wasn't made correctly this time around, I'm compelled to give it another try in the future.

There were plenty of craft vendors and food vendors, organized space-wise by category: craft vendors were closer to the entrance, food vendors were farther in. My favorites from the craft side were the amount of curated clothes sellers!! Soooo many cute jackets, dresses, tops, skirts, shoes, and bags. There were also a couple music stages playing music -- I liked that they had enough space between them so the sound didn't overlap when you were trying to listen to the artist(s) at either stage. The stage in the back was more of a DJ set, playing house music, and the stage in front had live music -- they had a full band and even a group playing an Irish jig earlier in the day, which was very fun. There were plenty of alcohol stations all around -- in the back, in the front, lining the whole perimeter of the event. There was also a good variety of crafts and a solid selection of food vendors. My only wish is that there had been more sweet options because there were tons of savory options. But overall, everything was very diverse, looked great, and was interesting and unique -- you had Nepali food, Indonesian food, Indian food, Mexican food, etc. -- very ethnically diverse. Overall, I think this is a great event and opportunity to spend time with loved ones (fun for adults and families alike!), grab a bite, and support local businesses! The friend I came with said the market has grown so much since before the pandemic, so it's lovely to see the community show up and show out for this. I hope OTG and WCC continue to host this market! Capelo's Barbecue: My friend and I ordered from Capelo's Barbecue's food truck. We got the 3-meat plate with beef brisket, pork ribs, and BBQ smoked chicken. First -- that line was hella long. We waited about 30 minutes (not including the wait after for the food), but it was fun since I had my friend to talk to. The layout of the menu and pricing were quite clear, so it was easy to decide what we wanted while we waited in line. Also, no dedicated seating area for the truck (night market!). The meats: beef brisket and pork ribs were an extra $2 each on the meat plate. The beef brisket was my favorite -- super smoky and so tender, almost melt-in-your-mouth, but not mushy. Just the perfect texture. Honestly, I wish it had a little more salt to add another layer of flavor besides just meat and smoke, but I still enjoyed the heck out of that brisket. The pork ribs were solid -- not the most amazing ribs I've ever had, but good flavor and texture. They weren't fall-off-the-bone tender, but they had a satisfying chew. I had to put some effort into tearin' the flesh from the bone with my teeth (as you do with ribs), and I liked that. The BBQ smoked chicken? Honestly, nothing special. It was a good, neutral option compared to the brisket and ribs, but the main flavor I picked up was black pepper. Solid chicken breast, but nothing memorable. Even the skin was meh. For the sides, we chose the baked beans and mac and cheese. The baked beans were wonderfully sweet and savory -- they paired perfectly with the BBQ. The mac and cheese was good and worked well with everything, but it wasn't particularly special on its own. Altogether, I think we paid around $32 for the plate. If I hadn't been splitting it with another person, honestly, I don't know if it would've been worth it -- but it was good in the moment. Quite tasty overall.

TWICE AT GOLDEN GATE PARK…read more In the past 11 months I've been to two exhibitions at De Young Museum. After the exhibitions instead of eating at the cafe in the museum I would look at food trucks at Golden Gate Park. After those two exhibitions I've ordered food from this food truck. The first time I came to Cochinita was in September after the exhibition featuring photos taken by Paul McCartney during the rise of The Beatles. The item that stood out from the truck was the elote tots. They were Mexican-style corn kernels top over tater tots. I am a sucker for tater tots. With sour cream and sauce I was worried if the tater tots would be soggy. The tater tots were still crispy. The complimenting textures of corn and tater tots made this a satisfying dish. The second time I came to the food truck at Golden Gate Park was the last day of exhibition "Monet and Venice." I was hoping to see if the elote tater tots were available; they weren't. I scanned up and down the items available listed on the food truck. One item that intrigued me was the tradicional - a plate with two types of fried tortilla. The panucho is regular fried while the salbut is fried with a puffy appearance. I love fried food, but these two tortillas weren't oily. These two kinds of tortilla fried dishes provided different textures to the toppings. I never ate Yucatan food before ordering food at Cochinita. If you are tasting a new cuisine you never had before ordering from a restaurant versus a food truck is different. Whereas in a restaurant while sitting you ask for recommendation whereas at a food truck while you're standing you go with your gut feeling. From my two experiences at the Cochinita food truck I ordered items I never had before and I enjoyed both of them. If I go to the Chochinita food truck at Golden Gate Park again and see elote tots, panucho, and salbut what will I order next time? I'm going to order an item I never had before.

After asking the barista, we learned that the botanical + herbal drinks don't come with coffee or espresso at all. That wasn't clearly indicated, and the word "latte" definitely led us to assume otherwise. To their credit, the barista was kind and offered to add an espresso shot to my drink once I mentioned the confusion. After the addition, it tasted significantly better and finally had some body.
